If you were going to piss your wife off by buying a new 1911, which would you buy?

Turns out that since I owe the IRS so much, I have to cash in a 401k to pay it. I figure I may as well cash the whole thing in, pay off some other debts and get myself a 1911 (and a reloading setup, but I asked about that separately). I do have a sort of small hand, the Ruger P series was fine for me though in 9mm. So far I was considering going low end on the base, and getting a rock island arms and then customizing, but I've always had a fond spot for Springfield too.

Springfield is putting out some really nice 1911s. My LGS told me kimber is almost a year out now. The Ruger 1911 I have a buddy with one and he really likes it. I really like my old ladies sig 1911 very nice

Screw just pissing her off, go for the divorce and buy a Nighthawk Custom.

OK, in reality, I own a couple RIA 1911s and like them both.

nah, this is her 401k we're cashing in :) besides, we're at hmm I dunno I think 18 years this august.

The sigs are pretty interesting as they are available in the 2 tone dark earth/sand which is sharp.

LMAO! I just did this exact thing (well,th pissing the wife off part) and got a Colt Railgun in stainless... love the beadblasting 2tone of it. Plus it shoots like a beast! WAY more accurate than I am...

My choice was also Nighthawk Custom!  Do something that keeps on giving to the cost...get a 10mm longslide.  Then dies.  And brass. Bullet moulds.  Casting equipment.

Another choice is the STI Perfect 10, a polymer 10mm 1911 pistol.

Staying with a "true" 1911, or anything semiauto in ,45ACP?  If you're after the .45, I'd say FNP/FNX 45, man.

I saw that, and it is pretty sharp, but it seems everyone is asking rape grade prices for it in FDE. I am a little indecisive as to whether it really being a 1911 matters, or just a 45 (maybe 10mm).

happened that in the local gun trader, I found someone today who had one of these they were willing to trade for my s&w era walther ppk/s, so I went for it

I'm lucky!   I don't EVER have to worry about buying a tgun!!!!  My wife buys more than me.LOL!!!

The "true" 1911 is over a hundred years old.   And look who is copying it!!!! EVERYBODY!!!!!!!  If I were buying anything but a genuine Colt, or Kimber, I think I'd get the Sig.

I guess you either like the 40 or don't.   Wife and I tried both, and didn't care for it in any of the 4 guns we tried.  Give me the good old .45acp any day!!!

My heart says a Springfield or a Sig 1911.... My nut sack says FNX 45!!! Man up and go big, or go home!!!

I just saw the magazine floor plate mod for +3 rounds on the FNX... 18+1 in .45!!! Holy sheep shit Chang!

And if you can't get a suppressor, they make some pretty slick comps and flash hiders for the .45's. The USP/Mk23 an G21 crowd made sure to popularize the parts. Check EFK and LWD for parts.

You definately came out ahead on that one!

Now...what options are you getting on that Nighthawk?

Jon

wish it was a nighthawk but I'll be adding a compensator, trijicon or fiber optic sights and maybe cerakote in fde
