It is the breakdown of the family, and all that crap coming out of Hollywood that glorifies this gangsta mentality.

I have two 19 year old sons who I could not be more proud of.  It took a lot of work and time to raise them. Twelve years going through the Boy Scout program with them as a leader, dragging them to church on Sundays, showing them how to treat their mom and all women with respect.

That is how most dads used to do it, but it seems to be a dying art.

I had girls but it is the same, you have to be willing to spend the time and teach them what the real world is about...... it pays off in the end , no unexpected children both went to college oldest graduated suma comlaude (SP) and is a teacher now in college the other is a psych major and works with kids and i am very proud of them both.....

The girls need to learn the respect also!

Hold the door open for your elders (or to be polite), say "Excuse me," instead of barging through, speak loud enough to be heard, etc.

Well Kiltedcowboy, I gotta tell you, I raised 4 boys in just the manner you described. I have 3 I'm proud as hell of and one in the state prison! Why? His mother and I have never figured it out.

Sad state of affairs when punkass kids don't have the respect for a veteran that they should.  Little fcukers don't understand that they might not even be on this planet in the first place if it wasn't for his actions.  Or, they might have been speaking Japanese, German, etc.

The Battle of Okinawa was heinous.  Lots of 7th Infantry Division history with that one.
