A friend bought a DPMS LR308 and now wants to add the shell deflector. He bought the deflector from DPMS but we can't seem to figure out how it attaches to the upper. From what I'm reading, the deflector has to bought with a gun that has that option on it from the factory. His has the 24" stainless bull barrel on it and I believe its an A2 upper?

Thanks,

This is it and yes it's a slickside upper. He's not so worried about the deflection, he's more concerned about the brass hitting the side of the upper and leaving marks on it! his dad was a gunsmith and he's pretty picky about his guns but instead of watching his dad when we were kids, well you know we were into other things.

That is meant for an A2 (carry handle) upper in 5.56. Not sure if it will work with a detachable carry handle bolted to an A3 (flat top) which i'm guessing you have. The brass will leave marks on the upper, but its not bad or deep. Get a piece of tape or something like that if it bothers you.

I think you can get ones that mount on the flattop rail. I didn't think anyone bought handled 308-AR uppers these days... except the old school AR-10 purists....
