washguy
Guys Char has vacation time coming up,and wanted to get out of town for a few days maybe down to the Texas hill country she sez. So,I start looking for hog hunting places down there, but I know her and a hunters type camp wont work for her, cause she's a girly girl when it comes to place to stay...the drill is nice showers, resturants, electrical for hair curlers <laughs> So i find the YO ranch Resort in Kerrville and a place to hunt 30 mins away and guided hunts ! email her the resort info, and by the time she got home its game on....no selling the hunts to her...she's all in  now she's asking me if her camo pants with the rhinestone studs are okay...why sure...and what grain bullets do we need for the 6.8 honey?...and can she carry her 9 on her hip or should I strap on the 357 she asks? WOOT WOOT one of my 308's is gonna get bloody  Geez what a Gal....keeper for sure! Wash

texas30cal
No boar for me!! We eat the sows and very small boars, those large boars smell like a burning tire when you cook them, we just leave them lay now the buzzards got to eat too. Have fun on the hunt she sounds like a keeper! Edited May 16, 2014 by texas30cal

NTX damn you are reading my mind.....the place has exotics......whats best for eating? or what can we afford? :) Wash Please pardon the ignorance of this Iowa farm boy, but what "exotics" are running around on what the Texans boastfully declare to be actual dirt? Iowa is tops in the nation for hog production, come on. Are we talking about "exotic Texas hogs" running around in the mesquite? Do they have psychedelic fur? That would be California hogs. texas30cal
Exotic deer, axis, fallow, black buck, not a big deer hunter but those are the three I hear about. That's where the "what can we afford" comes in, when you shoot one they are EXPENSIVE. Edited May 17, 2014 by texas30cal
NTXshooter
They can get expensive if your shooting for horns. Does for meat are usually pretty reasonable.. Wash, they all eat good. Sika, Axis, Fallow, Black Buck, they are all really great tasting game. I would take any of them over white tail any day of the week. The great thing about exotics is there are no rules. They are not native species so there are no regulations on hunting them.

NTXshooter
Safari style hunting is hunting from the back of a truck. Really nice, comfortable chair, ice chest full of your favorite beverage, drive around and when you see what you want BAM. Lots of fun. washguy
Guys got back last nite.....it was fun,but hard huntin.....geez those hogs run 30mph....so you got to be ready and really stealthy..... shot a big Fallow doe the first day on the morniing hunt.....crap brought the wrong setups for hogs....you need open sights....on the evening hunt Char was the one who spotted the boar in a cedar thicket with just the nose pointed at us at bout 75 yards but I got wise and switched over to the 6.8 with the red dot after the morning hunt on day one....dotted his eye,and he folded in his tracks Char's new name is "tracker" <lmao> our guide John knew his stuff though Char took 4 shots at hogs but missed....but she loved hunting...her first time ! pics coming got to give kudos to the Doc that replaced my knees....we stalked over very nastty rocks and stuff the new knees worked awesome.... all in all it was fun fun fun :) Wash
