I recently bought a Remington r25 in .308. I'm wanting to build it into a long range shooter(1000 yds. +). I'm new to the ar game so if anybody has any suggestions on barrels, optics, stocks, compensators, or any other accessories for this gun any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've always been a fan of the R25. You shouldn't have to do much. I'll bet it'll hit 1k yards as is.

1. A new match trigger would benefit you greatly.

2. Don't buy a new barrel. Just get your current barrel threaded, and add a decent brake.

3. Load her up and fling some lead.

Best way to reduce recoil is a good muzzle brake. Since you want a suppressor in the future, look at AAC or Surefire brakes.

A heavy buffer, from heavybuffers.com, coupled with an AR-10 spring, will soften the recoil some.

If you have a PRS stock installed, you are using the only buffer tube you need. There's really no way to reinforce it as it is.

Also, to reduce recoil should I reinforce buffer and buffer tube? And if so will mil-spec fit?

Quite worrying about what to do to it, and take it out and shoot it.

Run it as-is at 1k yards, if that's your goal.  See how it does.  Come back with results from the 1k yard shooting festiities, and let us know how it - and you - did.

Recommendations will come after that.

Don't mod it until you know what IT can do.  If you outshoot it, out of the box, make the mods that you need to get it up to YOUR shooting level.

He's got a point. I assumed you had already shot long distance and we're looking to hone your rough edges... get out there a brake her in. You might be surprised what she can do "as is".
