I am currently looking to install an A2 front sight base .750" for my maten build. http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/AR15-Front-Sight-F-Marked-p/front%20sight%20base%20-%20f%20750.htm Bear with me because I have a two part question. I know the item I have linked needs to be reamed and pinned, "permanent". First off I have a 18" select barrel from Rainiers w' .750" at the gasblock, I have a jp 15.5" forearm forearm mounted covering the gas block. I am going for the dissapator look w/ my rifle and I know I am going to use irons mostly. Question is will there be a problem mounting the sight base forward on the barrel were the diameter is .730"(confirmed by caliper)? Part two, is most bases I have researched are 1.870" long, I measured available space left on the barrel and found that 1.870" is a hair near the crush washer for the flash hider. Any ideas? My other option would be jp's a2 style sight base, but is expensive and not permanent. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/413559/jp-enterprises-gas-block-with-adjustable-a2-front-sight-ar-15-lr-308-standard-barrel-750-inside-diameter-stainless-steel-matte Caliper set at 1.870" more pics. Ultimately this is what I am looking for with my rifle. This is not my rifle, found in search on BrianEnosforum.com. better pic in link. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=141084

Newer model LR308 - The .308 RECON

I would like to see the dpms detachable rear(kinda looks like LMT's) and front front fixed sights on this setup. The magpul plastic sights don't do it for me, tough rifle needs solid sights. rear http://www.midwayusa.com/product/873271/dpms-detachable-rear-sight-ar-15-flattop-matte?cm_vc=sugv1_536347 front http://www.midwayusa.com/product/536347/dpms-detachable-front-sight-gas-block-height-ar-15-lr-308-steel-matte?cm_vc=sugv1873271 -
I am up for that, HSC's 200 meter range is open on the third saturday of each month. I usually try to get a group of friends to go shoot on these weekends. There are steel targets hung at various distances, and depending on the RO they have ok'ed tannerite. <thumbsup> 9/22/2012 http://hernandosportsmansclub.com/sept12.htm

WTF? :bat: That is a serious f**k up.

I assembled my maten with one of these in it. I like it a lot, I used Jp's enhanced reliability spring kit with it. It feels great, I might swap it out with the original springs for comparison.

Total noob...I'm about to dive in to my first build
george_995 replied to tcoche's topic in Building a .308AR
Listen to Wash, I ended up purchasing the 18" barrel from rainiers. After rattling his brain with various questions. <laughs> 16" barrel http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=2688 This is a very good company to deal with, I had a problem with some C-product magazines (sr-25 patterned) and they refunded everything including shipping. -
http://www.hsgi.us/proddetail.php?prod=HSG-SGPB&cat=18 this company has well made products at good pricing. Made in the USA <thumbsup>

was the tri fuel conversion in the link? Did not see.

I have been thinking about purchasing a generator also (live in florida), I think I am gonna go for a diesel one. This is not only for Hurricanes but for the summer storms too. We have regularly lost power from lightning storms this summer.

This is interesting. I have seen polymer training rounds before(.308), the range was for 200- yards I believe. IIRC dillon precision used to sell the practice ammo through the Blue Press. I look forward to see what the final price on the PCP .308 168gr. German Blue Plastic training ammo 7.62x51 http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=512145 Looked up the contact info, they are about an hour and twenty minutes away from me. Yeah DOG!!!

Doug Henry(#19) is my all time favorite mx racer. <thumbsup> I got to meet John Dowd here in Florida, back in 2005 at a private track. It was awesome seeing him ripp at light speed even in the sugar sand.

I didn't think about tango or troy. Still think a 20rd or 25rd ;D smoke magazine w/ the ergonomics of an armalite mag would look badass sticking out the bottom an ar10/variant. I am actually fixing to email them about this, possibly will spark a fire under them <dontknow>. Maybe a petition of interest could be formed/created to let the company know that there is a consumer interest.

I wish Lancer systems would develop magazines for the 308 platforms. I love the translucent smoke 30rd mags for the ar15. I think they could bring a strong alternative to the table for a reliable polymer 20rd mag. Nothing against magpul, I use their products, it would be great to have different option for the polymer mag.

DPMs bolt carrier problem
george_995 replied to george_995's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I agree. I made a mistake by not fully investigating the products. I originally had doubts, should have listened to my gut. ;D All is well, I ended up mounting the a5 system(uses ar15 rifle spring <thumbsup> verified w/ vltor) to my ar15 in which had the a2 setup. I have the armalite ar10 spring, now just waiting on the armalite ar10 rifle buffer from rainiers. -
Is it the weekend yet?! (LR308 DONE!)

DPMs bolt carrier problem
george_995 replied to george_995's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
Looks like I jumped to conclusions on the bolt carrier situation. I have ordered the wrong buffer, went with a a5 h3 buffer instead of a regular h3 buffer. I did more reading in the maten thread on ar15.com. Since I have the majority of the parts I am going to use a A2 stock system with the armalite ar10 spring(have already) and going to buy the ar10 buffer http://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop/detail&product_id=1911 Don't really want to ditch the collapsible stock setup, just seems like to much tinkering :o. Thanks again for the help.
