  1. At least Dylan had a good time at my dad's. He was pretty bored while we got the truck unstuck. He did have his own issues today though. First round he fired didn't sound right. Quite a different pop and lots of smoke from the action. "Ow, that hurt my ear". Even with plugs in, it hurt. "Something hit me in the face". He points to a couple spots. Looked like a little oil blew back. Not normal from a bolt gun. I popped it open and the whole bottom of the shell had blown off. I took it over, one round through it...no problem. Another round through it, POP! Damn, that hurt my ear too. This one blew a section around the base out. We've run a box of this ammo before and it seemed like fun stuff. I only had two boxes from a day when that's all the local shop had in stock. He was nervous and didn't want to get back on the gun, but I ran about 10 rounds of CCI through it and showed him it's just that ammo. Might be a bad batch. He got back on and ran 50 through it. Then it was our turn to play. Still a good day with 3 generations together, but a day full of adventures.
  2. That's right, a 2fer. 2 issues in one topic. Went up to shoot with my dad and my son today. We were headed up to our usual spot on a buddies ranch. Got almost all the way up to the meadow we like to shoot in and the road got a little too muddy. Found a good spot, so we thought, to turn around and wound up stuck. Took a little digging and a good tug from a Polaris ranger blocked of to a tree and we made it out of there...didn't get to shoot. Took too much time unscrewing my situation. We got back to my dads and set up on the 25yard range he has at his house. Pushed back to 50 while trying to sight in his new aimpoint and his irons. Ran into a couple issues that made that a mess too. First up, anyone have issues having to run the windage adjustment completely to one side to get it aligned? Magpul Pro on an upper straight from BCM. Whole upper came assembled by them, 14.5" mid length, pencil with pinned BCM comp and standard FSB. See photos. Issue 2 : the QD on the aimpoint kept loosening. We'd shoot a few, make some adjustments, shoot a few more. Then all of the sudden we'd be all over the page again. Check the aimpoint, sure as poop...loose. We have the adjustment cranked down almost all the way. It's hard to work the cam lever almost. Don't know what brand the QD is. He bought the whole setup from CMC and I've suggested he give them a call tomorrow to ask. Take a look at the photos. I've never had a QD before, so I can say what's normal, but does this look right? See how tight the gap is at the tightening screw. Being that hat we have two issues involving the rail on the BCM upper, could that be a source of our issues? I've always thought they make a pretty decent product, but every so often anyone can make a dud. Could it be operator error, I will admit neither myself nor my dad are all that experienced with either of these items.
  3. That's a bummer man....sorry to hear about the LA part. We'll keep you in our prayers. I guess there are worse places here in CA to reside in, but not by much. You know it's bad when even the Raiders wouldn't stick around. welcome from San Diego, though you already spotted that one.
  4. No thanks-enjoy them. They couldn't fill the stadium we have, cried like babies for years for us to build them a newer and nicer stadium. I hope we build one now and bring a winning team here down the road.
  5. so its a pistola, a damn fine rifle, and a two night stay in a cabin with a view apparently. Put my name in the hat.
  6. You had me at free shipping....I gotta go sell a kidney real quick. I'll let the boys draw straws to see which one of them gets to donate to the cause.
  7. I'm pretty sure those are already illegal here.
  8. Build details? Upper, lower, what do you got?
  9. If she don't kill you, stay there the rest of your life. She might just be the perfect level of crazy for you.
  10. I read the comments. I have so little hope for the people of this country. Call me what you will, but this place is in extreme need of a 28 day colon cleanse.
  11. Amazon has the UTG cases of you're looking for them Mike

Well, we can't keep raising the water rates with all this water here. "Let's go fornicate up a dam so we can let all the water out and ensure we stay in drought conditions a little longer".
  13. Haven't used it, but I've been looking at cases lately and this one caught my eye. Pockets look like they **might work Link to case
  14. Matt, what if Tom throws in a shiny new Nickel Boron BCG???? it felt a little like the the Jameson was flowing. That's a bummer. As long as she don't kill ya, you're right where you need to be. The good days are a lot of fun and the bad days make great stories. Win win.
  15. Mine was pretty small up front, but she had a big ol rear end.
  16. I think there's plenty of those floating around already man...I think Mike broke the Internet.
  17. I know, right? Hell...born and raised in San Diego an I've OWNED and Allis Chalmers. We've had a couple Kubotas. Driven all kinds. Worst I think was an early 50's D2 pulling a gang of discs, a harrow and then a seed drill. Coolest one was picking up hay in a Harobed (I hear Google firing up already). It was fun farming with old timers on dirt poor equipment. We had a flatbed truck with an escalator that would mount to the side and bring the bales up to you. It was always a good time stacking hay on the back of a moving truck while an 85 year old man drove you around an unlevel field.
  18. Why would anyone build an office in a trailer park? Glad you missed the tornado. Everything hold up ok?
  19. It'll be here. You always have good stuff to trade...we'll work it out when you need it. And because this is a pic thread: I put in a favorite from the pile I think I got it here, so it's probably a repost
  20. Speaking of PRI rails....I still have this one sitting here looking for a home. Wish we knew someone who liked these things.
  21. I heard they were teaming up with CMMG to cut cost. There was a link to Midwest that Shepp posted at the top of this page. Noveske has a nice one on sale right now for $168, but then you have to pay $100 for a barrel nut and probably have to buy a wrench too.
  22. There's the true test. Matt has a friction problem. Let him test it out and if the Mrs. winds up having to shave...you know that stuff works.
  23. Gas up the truck buddy...you're gonna have to leave soon if you want to get here by March!
  24. Yep. I said AR10 and cheap in the same sentence.
