Are the Bolts NIB coated ? They can be tight . I do all head spacing testing with dry Bolts & Barrel Extensions I could see one being the wrong marked caliber , but two different barrels from different manufacturers ?

I will probably load the Amax's a little shorter COL , they bare real close to touching & may be rubbing the inside of the Pmag. The next test loads will be with just TAC & 50/50 Amax & Match Bullets only , from the 16" & the 20" Nice & shady to shoot from .

The only thing I can think of is , the warmth of the Barrel <dontknow> , there were five rounds in the middle of the target , just to see where the 155's would impact , barrel had a dry patch ran down it after each test group & I had no loads of TAC higher then 43.0 gr. ,so you guess is as good as mine . ES & SD are also strange .I do not let the Barrel have a cool down period , swab it & then the next test . I at least know after looking at the brass , that I can go with more of a charge wt. ,even though I was using my 16", my target fps with the 20" Barrel was 2750 fps ( more or less ) & will get close to that when I load some more refined loadings & put them through both Barrels . Below are the Targets , don't mind the flyer's , I was getting used to a single stage MechArmor FCG , sucker would go off before I was ready , still thinking I had the Geissele in there . I will keep the MechArmor in for the next testing which will be on Monday . On Target test # 1 ,I had two rounds of Fed. mil Spec that had been damaged from my exploits with the CMMG Lower & Pmags , that had a nice dent in them from failing to feed & I pulled the Bullets ,dumped the powder & resized & loaded 43 gr. Tac , seated the MiSpc 149 FMJ into & shot them next to the 155AMax . I had to shoot them to get the dent out for reloading .

Just look how many people are wrecking all these hot rod factory cars on the first day of ownership & I can understand a engine with only six miles on it blowing . First hole shot was probably 12,000 rpms . ( or as close as he could get to it till it blew ) <lmao>

Are the manufacturers of the Barrel the same ? Are the BCG's/Bolt made by the Same Manufacturer ? Check the Function of the Ejector , which depending on what HS gages you are using , should be removed for testing , the extractor can stay on most, if not all HS gages. What kind of Dummy round , hand load or a factory made one ?

Used the sights today on the Wife's Carbine & @ 25 yards . she shot about three inches low , went to 100 yards & I was shooting dead on but left . I did notice that I had my prescription Ray bans on & I'm not sure where the transition is for the bi-focals , but I couldn't use them to shoot with Iron sights , the top of the front sight blade was like it had double vision . two tops of the pin , one high & one lower . I changed to my normal clear glasses & had no problem .Had nothing to do with the sights , its all about me & my Glasses . I want to get a day I can just shoot the Irons & nothing else . I like them , good sight picture , its easy to use the HK type Ears on the from sight . it can be adj. using the A2 sight adj. tool .I also have some photo's I have to down load .

Went to the range with the 16" 308 AR today with some 155 gr. test loads . After adding some extra sun shades on the Chrono , it worked ok . I was talked into swapping out my Geissele G2S out & install the MechArmor Modular FCG & it took a little to get used to it , but started to get better with it , in this rifle , as the testing progressed . I was very reluctant to replace the Geissele & the two stage will go back in once I test the pull weight on the MechArmor FCG while its in this rifle , out of curiosity . Temp . 88 degrees , little to no wind & I had a bench in the shade . All COL were 2.797" or close to it . All brass was Annealed & sized in a Redding FL Bushing die . I had three other test loads ,one with the WW primers, but knocked the holder over & mixed some of them up , so no idea what was in what , so didn't even shoot them .

I have photo's of them in a thread in Optics section . No elevation on the rear sight , front post operates just like the A2 front . The A2 sight adj. tool will work with it .

If your going to get a set of HS gages , get the complete set , its a good idea if you are planing to do a your own work on your rifles . Its like any other tool that is needed to build a rifle or maintain it . I check all the barrels I install by hand , with the Bolt I plan on using , before I install them in AR's . I have read & heard of people using the buffer spring close the Bolt on a HS gage , a sure way to potentially damage the Gage .

The best way to see if a caliber is using the same Bolt face is to look at what shell holder they use for reloading . Both of these take an RCBS # 3 shell holder , so yes a 308 bolt will work , also they are both necked down 308 cases , so that is another way to tell . 7.62x51R Europe's 30-30 designation , if i'm reading right , I had to look it up <dontknow>

Is the Chamber a 7.62 x 51 , a hybrid or .308 , it may make a difference with different manufacturers gages . It doesn't take much to make a HS gage useless , we have had at least one here that had a damaged gage set , that gave bad readings .

Clymer , Forster , there are others , but not as well known . 308 gages will work , if that's what you are really asking . I haven't had one that didn't Head Space correctly , but with some of the coated Bolts , they may be a little tight , until they have a break in round count .

I haven't used a Torque wrench to tighten a Barrel nut for a very long time , but if you feel the need to use one , that's fine too <thumbsup> .

Looking at the photo of the new Camo , there is something in there that looks black & gloves are made of different material & may show up differently . Any way , spending Bazillions for the elimination of a color that is natural in nature ? Maybe not in a Desert environment , but just about any where else . <dontknow>
