  1. Ya , I don't believe any of them came with Carrie handles . The AR 15/M16 Carrie handle should work , with a railed gas block & BUIS . Thats some strange rules , probably just to keep Iron sight matches . The swivel ? Most use Slings , so I guess you need a Sling Swivel <dontknow> Looks like they made the rules as close to the M16 rules as they could . Surprised the left the FF Hand Guard in there ! <laughs>
  2. Fed 168 gr. GM & the bolt locks back every time ? Your hand loads might need some inspecting , I would not think 41 gr.'s of 4064 is a weak charge with 175 gr. bullets , maybe something with sizing or COL , just two things to look at . Have you tried M80 milSpec ball ammo ?
  3. Interesting , so do you have one already or is it on the way ? <lmao>
  4. You know , just when you think you have a handle on the various forms of the 308AR , another twist comes up from another manufacturer . Why ? A mistake from the Barrel maker ? I know some have had to alter more than just the heat shields to make the Magpuls work on 308AR's , 0.30 " is not all that much to compensate for , or is it ? Nothing a free float hand guard & low pro gas block won't fix <dontknow>
  5. They are talking about rifle length gas systems in that thread . My question now is , if the wood hand guard that is on the Windham barrel fits , then it had to be made for a longer gas system , be it Armilite or what ever . I thought the Magpul mid length MOE hand guards were made to fit AR 15 Mid length gas system , so he is saying the Magpul will not fit the Mcgowen Mid length system , will it fit the Windham Barrels system ?. I guess I'm a little confused with what is the real problem , the gas system is different on which barrel ? Is the gas system short on the McGowen BBL. for the Magpul hand guard ? I'm missing something here .
  6. Famous last words <laughs>
  7. Whoops , misplaced a "0" there . Ya, 3/10" is much bigger. So the Mid length Armilite is that much different then a std Mid length gas system, by 3/10 of an inch ?
  8. Look at post # 35 , this is one way , some drill& tap for a set screw . Check out the rest of this thread.
  9. I think the front hand guard cap is 0.030" thick .
  10. Wonder if that part was made with the Metal powder forming process ? What ever you call it .
  11. Not to mention having to alter or modify a std 308 Bolt stop to work . Sounds like the pins ,pivot hole is set too high in the Lower Receiver . How hard would it be ( if as a manufacturer ,you knew ?) to thread that hole for the detent spring, for a threaded plug/ set screw ?
  12. That can depend on many factors with almost any Powder in an AR type rifle . Barrel length , gas system , weight of the projectile's being used & even the primer used for the loading . Round count one way or the other can also have a impact . I have been using WC 846 Powder for many years & its a pretty dirty burning powder , but when used in some loadings , is not so dirty. I would imagine the new Powders , like CFC , that have a supposedly anti fouling formula , would be clean with any loading combo . Since most of the popular Powders have been unavailable for a very long time , we have had to use not so popular Powders , even though they work great , not the first choice to use with our caliber or loadings for them . The AR ,DI gas system, is a dirty system & its just the way it is . Be it scraping the tail of the Bolt or the Piston of a piston system , burnt Powder residue is going to collect some where & will need cleaning .
  13. I have shot Turkey's as close as 10' from me & as far as 45 yards , it may not look like the rest , but could work just as good . <dontknow>
  14. Some dirty loads , Just wipe it off , re-lubricate & go for another 1K ! <thumbsup> <laughs>
  15. That looks mostly like soot . What ammo or Powder are you using & what lubricant are you using ?
  16. Nice , now you have a Barrel that can shoot around corners & if you bought that from someone on the CMP Forum , I would let him know or the whole Forum !
  17. <munch>
  18. Nice walleye , I miss fishing for them in the Great lakes . I still have all my trolling rigs & lures , they haven't been used in over ten years .
  19. Try this guys BCG's ,http://www.dwilsonmfg.com/store/p18/AR10_Bolt_carrier_Group.html
  20. I'll stick with Forged or Billet , myself . I like the Bolts & Nyloc nuts holding the upper & lower together .
  21. I think they screwed some of them up & its their explanation to cover their A$$'s . Ya , we did that on purpose , ya , right !
  22. They said the employee that did the numbering was on vacation <laughs> How did the Fed's know he had all those un-documented Lowers ? An inspection ? I used to buy Select fire Lowers for & 165.00 back in the early 80's . <thumbsup>
  23. Do you have weights & contours of the new line of Barrels ?
  24. Nice & your Barrels also . <thumbsup>
