Germany's G 36 rifle problems
survivalshop replied to survivalshop's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
No need for carrie handle with the Beast , it needs a fork lift to get it on the range table. <laughs> -
Looks fun , also looks like you have the right tool for the job . I would try the 175's in those wind conditions & distance , but looks like 168's will work. I wish I could play in the Desert sometimes . The HP BT's are said to be more stable at long distances , the turbulence the HP creates helps stabilize them .

Lawsuit against a FFL
survivalshop replied to survivalshop's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
I think it goes to show you , there are some really stupid people out there . I can see someone check it by accident , but what criminal idiot checks it on purpose ! Then , if true , the idiot dealer or hired help , tried to talk him into changing it , knowing he was a straw buyer ! I think someone is BS'ing someone , the Perp's are trying to get something out of this or , there are people behind the scenes trying to put the hurt on a honest FFL . Hard to tell . -
Magnifying components for inspection
survivalshop replied to survivalshop's topic in General Discussion
I think this type is for smart phones , not sure where yours fall in with them . This is like the one I have.Except mine is an 4S phone. http://www.amazon.com/AGPtek%C2%AE-Portable-Microscope-Bright-lights/dp/B00HFOY5E6/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1429654023&sr=8-4&keywords=cell+phone+microscope -
I'll bet , no one covers it on any of the main news networks . http://www.businessinsider.com/uber-driver-with-concealed-handgun-prevents-mass-shooting-in-chicago-2015-4

My .308 learned a new trick... Bolt catch not catching properly.
survivalshop replied to AdamO's topic in Building a .308AR
The reason for it holding the BCG back with a Mag in is, the mags follower is keeping steady pressure on the Bolt face( of course you knew that ) once the pressure to hold it in position is taken away , some Bolt catches seem not to hold as well . If your Catch is in the same position as the one in my photo, it should hold it, but it has to go far enough up on the Bolt Face to do so , not just barely . Must catch on two of the Lugs on the Bolt face . Check to see how much play is in the catch in the Lower Receiver , if it has a chance to cock side ways too much , the Bolt face can slip off of the Catch . You can increase travel of the Catch to have it be forced up or higher in the Receiver. Make sure its a 308AR Catch & not a AR15 as in one of the upper photo's , you didn't say if it was or not . -
Great you found the problem with the Ejector . They do have a lot to do with feeding , we have seen it before , but usually the problem shows up on feeding by hand also. Shows you never stop learning something here , at least for me . I alway disassemble BCG components & inspect , before putting into service . You think you caused it by testing Head Space ? I always remove the Ejector to check Head Space with my gages , some of the new HS gages , this step is not needed because of a cut out in the base of the HS gage . I think 98 has one of the new type or a photo. Blending the Feed ramps will help when using HP loads , they just love to catch on anything in their path . <thumbsup>

Starting some R&D on what I want and what I need...
survivalshop replied to Screwjack's topic in Building a .308AR
But why is it a " Stupid LR " ? Or is that one of those self correct mistakes ? Just curious . -
Just match the feed ramps & polish ( use a " Machinist in a can" , " a Dremel Tool " ), if your in to that or take the upper to a Gunsmith & they should have no problem matching & polishing the feed ramps . No real need to open them up any more than is needed to match the feed ramps of the Upper Receiver & Barrel Extension . I use a fine cone shaped stone & then polishing compound , after I recut or grind the feed ramps to match . Doesn't take long , the polishing can take a bit , depends if you want them to have a mirror finish or not . Its also a timing thing with the Cartridge feeding , mess up that timing & with all the force of a 308AR Buffer spring & mass of the BCG , its bend city if the cartridge is not in position at the key time . Like if it hangs up on a feed ramp . Like Wash said , the lancer with a higher feed angle , will probably work fine , but I would match the feed ramps , for all mags to have a chance to work . As far as the question of the Extractor working right , it can also be too stiff or hang up & it won't let the Cartridge Base enter the Bolt face . Just one more thing to inspect .

I had a friend turn me on to this little gadget that has a cover & magnifier for my IPhone & have been playing with it for a year or so . When I want to look at something very closely , like for cracks in a component I take a photo of it with this magnifier & can view it on my Mac Book Pro & inspect it even closer . If I want to keep it , I crop it for what I want to see , & save it . Here are some examples. Thought some of you might find this interesting . This is a locking lug on my DPMS 308 bolt , it has a notch worn in to it , all of the Lugs have this issue & Bolt will not be used again , unless its an emergency , of course. Same Bolt , Firing pin hole in Bolt face . You can feel the roughness with your finger nail , but to me , it doesn't look all that bad for a high round count .

Some 110 V-Max test loads for the 300BLK . I like the 110 gr. Bullet, but I have liked all the loads I have made up for the 300BLK .

Check you Extractor to see if works correctly . How do the feed ramps on the Barrel Extension fit with the Upper Receiver ,Photo maybe ? That does look like a Mag. problem .

Stupid LR ? -
Isn't that kinda short for a DPMS 308 Carbine Buffer , 2.24" ? Mine are all around 2.5" . Unless thats the measurement to the Buffer spring seat to the bottom of the Buffer .You may have some tolerance Stacking issues , If you found something that works , go with it .

One night I had a little too much Vodka at the Marina where I docked my Boat & I sorta fell asleep in my cabin ( well mostly ) with my feet hanging out , so a couple of the ladies in the get together , thought they needed sprucing up & painted them Red . I woke up the next morning early & took the boat out to the swimming area & anchored it & went for a swim . There was another boat there with a guy & his wife , it was only wast deep water so I walked over to chat , well I jumped up & sat on their swim platform & that when the guys wife asked if I always paint my toe nails & I took a look & said , them MF & LOL . She had those removal pads on the boat & even took the crap off for me , what a woman . So , no , its coming off . <laughs>

Or they are tired of it & let it happen , Capital Police to Secret Service agent " Did you hear that ? ", "Naw " ," Must have been a truck back firing ."

Paid $ 58.80 with tax from DSW ( Designer Shoes Warehouse ) My other Converse are Black Hight Tops . My size must be popular , because no one , but this place had anything in my size , I liked . Nothing is cheap any more , especially if its in demand , Bastiges ! One of my questions to Converse was ," is it a designer statement " ? I did think it was the way they are now a days , but the High Tops had full Laces .

My new sneakers , I have a problem with the laces being too short , but I contacted Converse & they are going to fix me up . Made in Indonesia , to those who want to know .

Believe what you'all want , I have satisfied my curiosity with proof . As said , don't confuse charging the rifle with firing it . <dontknow> Perhaps ,someone can explain Bolt Bounce to me , causes & effects ?

This is something you better think about if having to deal with any type of Terrorist attack .Its not only picking up a Terrorist type weapon , but just engaging or even having your firearm in your hand . LE with all the chaos could mistake you for on of " Them " . My first instinct is to evade & escape with my family , sounds selfish , but its my first concern , then with contact with LE , join the fight . You have to remember , unless you have a shitload of ammo with you , your carrie load is not going to be enough to sustain any kind of assault , even with LE . I think you can train & it most definitely helps , but when the SHTF , chaos will determine what you can & can't do . I said when the Sheet heads attacked in France , that if someone filming those Terrorists from the roof , if they only had a firearm & knew how to use it , it may have stopped the attack or changed or altered the outcome . Every situation is going to be different & as was said in the article , if all you have is the gun range to practice at , you ability to practice properly may be limited .
