  1. I got it figured out , Berry did the swap on purpose , Karzai has been ignoring the stupid _ _ _ _ _ _ _, so he pulled some old Chicago politics on his a$$ ,to show him who's King . Put the people back there that made that place a mess after the Commie's left, that will show him ,not to kiss the Kings a$$ . <laughs> Might not be far from the truth .
  2. More test loads with the 175's , trying to get something that will group better . I shot @ 100 range today because I needed load data from the Chrono . I at least got some decent groups , although I know the 20" can cut its groups in half with 168 gr. bullets , but some promising groups for a change out of both Barrels . Condition - no wind , about 80 deg. @ 0830 , 84 % humidity & no bugs , which was pleasant I did forget to dial down my scopes from 200 yard settings the first shot & the first two shots out of the 20" bbl. , you would think i would have learned from adj. the 16" . I also did something different & that was to shoot all test loads from each rifle in the same sitting . I was changing rifles out with each test load . All primers used were 20+ year old CCI 's ( Unless noted ) ( I'm almost out of all my older primers , its what you get when you buy them in 10K lots ) I have newer ones to play with also . I also got my Pact scale back so all were weighed with it . All brass was LC , unless noted . Targets attached 16" BBL. 175 gr. Nosler Match bullets. COL 2.796 " # 1 - 39.5 gr. IMR 4895 ( on Noslers load data , the most accurate ) ( Annealed FC brass & crimped with Lee Factory crimp die ) Avg. Vel.- 2269 fps ES- 22fps SD- 8 fps # 2- 38.5 WC 846 Avg. Vel.- 2214 fps ES- 53 fps SD - 19 fps # 3- 42 gr. IMR 4064 ( newer CCI primers ) Avg. Vel.- 2466 fps ES - 26 fps SD - 11 fps # 4 - 40 gr. WC 846 Avg. Vel. - 2327 fps ES - 32 fps SD - 12 fps 20 " BBL. 175 gr. Nosler Match bullets , COL 2.796 " # 1- 39.5 gr. IMR 4895 ( again this loading in the Nosler data was there most accurate )( Annealed FC case , Lee Factory crimp die ) ( only four shots in group, all I had left to use ) Avg. Vel. -2392 fps. ES - 69 fps SD - 28 fps # 2 - 40 gr. WC 846 ( there are five shots in that group ) Avg. Vel. - 2446 fps ES - 43 fps SD - 16 fps # 3 - 42 gr. IMR 4064 ( newer CCI Primers ) Avg. Vel. - 2573 fps ES - 17 fps SD - 7 fps # 4 - 40 gr. IMR 4895 ( WW brass , annealed & crimped with a Lee factory crimp die ) Avg. Vel. - 2353 fps ES - 44 fps SD - 15 fps.
  3. Just to clarify , if the bolt came with your JP barrel , more than likely it was head spaced by JP. The Shadow Ops bolt needs to be checked for head space in the JP barrel or any other barrel.
  4. You can check the head space with the other bolt & keep it as a spare , but run the one that came with the barrel , as said above .
  5. You must be lifting the 10# weight , like practicing carrying your new 308AR . <thumbsup> They sure make a nice BCG , don't they ?
  6. I want to think that O'Buttheads crew screwed up & didn't know this individuals history & was just grabbing something for the head lines to divert attention from the VA mess , but I'm not sure if they are totally that stupid & had all this was going to there plan , because this story is on the fore front of the news . That dumb be-ouch ho, from the State Dept. , saying no on knows the facts yet, just cracks me up , how blatantly they can twist & spin the truth , these people are truly professional liars . It is also amazing how they never run out of them .
  7. 270 will work nicely !
  8. Upon looking at this mount & I have not had one in my hand , so I have to go by what I see . My concern is all the fasteners on the mount , I have learned from working on many scope mounts , that the less nuts, bolts ,rivets or what ever attaches something to something the better it will withstand repeated recoil impulses or abuse. I see the QR mount is attached with two bolts to the scope base ( probably for assembly of the QR feature ). The rings are attached with two each , not sure if rivets or some kind of bolts , to the scope base. To me , thats far too many attachment points that can move or loosen . If you look at some other mount/base/ring , scope mounts , they are truly , one piece mount , machined as one piece , with nothing bolted ,screwed on or riveted, only the top scope ring caps . That is a nifty way of locking the QR featured mounting system. Just my opinion by looking at the photo's .
  9. I want the spoon , I eat cereal & I think I would feel safe using it while eating . Would it be called a "Spife ". <laughs>
  10. He's been out of touch with normal operations for five years , I don't think he can give them anything much , anymore , if he was cooperating with them . I now believe he was , IMO . They probably have no use for him any more & are tired of feeding & taking care of him , so why not get there big leaders back in trade . Its win win for them .
  11. Looks like a long action , 30'06 ?
  12. I was presently surprised to see Gander had 338 Federal in stock today , I just had to look .One thing that is always on my mind is , ammo availability.
  13. I put a lot of pressure on my sling & there was a little flex in the thin strip of plastic separating the webbing , but very little & I put some good pressure on it to make it flex just a little. Not something thats going cause concern to me , but I wouldn't toe a car with it . I also looked at two of my other slings , one a Magpul & I forget the name of the single point , but they also have plastic strap buckles , but they are different & probably much stronger . The magpul has there HK type attaching clip & the only thing metal on it is the actual hook . These too are of a different configuration & stronger construction. -Top is a Specops single point - middle is a Magpul -bottom is Beachin Comparing the thickness of Magpul's & Beachin's The thin divider is what I witnessed flexing a bit , but it did take a good pull to do it . I also looked at BlackHawk slings in Gander Mountain today & they were also plastic & made similar to Magpul's . I have field tested these other two slings mentioned , last year & I will field test this one & make a comparison . I can see it being a little too short as StainTrain mentioned though, especially with body armor & other accessories being worn . I wouldn't give up on plastic ones , maybe a stronger type , like those above .
  14. Another thing this swap has done is , " Wag the Dog " to get the news media to cover it & not the VA murders . Not that its not news ,but anything they can do to get" Bagram Berry "to look good . Its a political stunt to make him look good , like he cares , we all know he doesn't care one bit about us , its all about him , him , him ,him ! It would be nice if they were tagged for extinction , but underestimating the Taliban would be a mistake . It would not be a problem for them to X-ray those released to see if there is something in them .
  15. Does look like some kind of chem/or something, over spray, what can he get into contact with around the house ? Was he some where off your property recently ? Man , I treat mine like children , hope he gets better .
  16. Its not unusual for a long term captive to coheres with there captives , even joining there cause. Now having said that , if some of this new info is true , well that makes the whole trade for his release , suspicious .
  17. That's an interesting option to think about . I am leaning toward a 20" barrel , but an 18" would probably work as well , so the JP barrel & bolt combo , is looking better all the time .Plus its in stock , but I'm not in a hurry I need a new Bolt for the BC I have any way. The one with the BC I have is a little worn from another barrel .
  18. So are you saying it should have metal components ? I didn't notice any flexing with it on my 308AR , but I didn't put it through the ropes at the range yet .
  19. He wants to shoot while he makes up his mind ( see his post # 13 ), its why BUIS was even mentioned. Good idea to get used to the rifle with Irons until he picks the right scope, good practice . Iron sights or BUIS/MBUS are always good to keep practiced at , as you know , of course. <thumbsup>
  20. Those older DW revolvers , the barrel screwed into the frame , then with a feeler gage ( 0.002" ) you gaped the barrel to cylinder & replaced the shroud & tightened the outer nut onto the barrel to tighten down the shroud , so the barrel & shroud were anchored at both ends , not exactly free floating. I'm still trying to get my .44 Mag DW back , has both an 8" ( ported )& 6" heavy shrouded barrels .
  21. Do check the first post . <dontknow>
