  1. Nothing wrong with a Milspec Forged , but I too believe the Billet Receivers are stronger & more precise , because material can be left on the Receiver where it would benefit the strength of that area . You have to realize that the Milspec dimensions have not changed , where Billet can & is made to machine material & strengthen area's in todays AR uses . If you need or want them . I have two AR 15's with Billet Receiver sets , a POF set & a Black Rain Ordnance set , both fit perfectly together . Not sure Billet Upper Receiver will look as ascetically appealing with a Forged Lower Receiver or Vice versa , but they should work .
  2. Some Weaver Rings/Mounts are made to work with Weaver type mounts & Picatinny Rails , they are different mounting systems & may not be as accurate as just if they are made for Picatinny Rails . I don't remove my scopes once set & sighted in , so I dont worry about them re-zeroing , even though I have a bunch of Warne QD Ring sets .
  3. I want to try one of those & have been looking , just not sure it will bring the scope high enough for my Cheek weld . Its measurement is 1.4" center of Scope from Rail , I use extra high rings on all my AR's , which works out to 1.5" & don't want to put $$ into a mount that won't work for me . It sounds like that 1/10" is not much of a deal , but spending time looking for a sight picture , is not to my liking .
  4. Have you ever seen so much stalling in an investigation before & I'm not just asking you JT , anyone ? This is probably the first investigation that I know of, that they say it will be done in a year ! Thats bizarre ! Look at any other shooting & it doesn't have to be a Mass shooting , info is out in just a couple of hours , this one stinks more then any in history & has nothing to do with it being the worst in our history !
  5. Not really , unless they can put her in that room & helped him load them there . My wife helps me load mags sometimes , so her finger prints are on mags & ammo right now , doesn't mean she helped me shoot them at the range . I think she isn't telling the truth though , I think she knows more then we will ever find out .
  6. Is that the one where the kids are marooned on an island ?
  7. Hard Armor's better then no Armor I have Ceramic & it is Heavy with the side Panels . ( even with out them , what am I saying )
  8. I dont worry too much about Ejection patterns ether . I would not think twice about putting an adj. Gas Block on a 16" Carbine Gas system in 308 . Thats about the most over gassed configuration you can get in 308 . The SA Piston system Carbine I have is the only Rifle I have with an AGB , I don't use them & have no issues , Tune the system & except for that one 16"Barrel/Carbine Gas system combo , there is no real need for them unless your running suppressed . Yes , I agree , if its not broke , don't fix it . Also , you would think , as was said , that any Gas Block should work .?.
  9. You did real good , gotta love the Lancers . I'm in St Augustine , you are in the same town the Tactical Machining is in . I go there a couple times a year to pick up Receivers , they no longer make small parts, just Receivers & such . Thats what I was told last year when they were moving to a larger building , right down the street . I have not been to the new building yet , but sure it only a matter of time . Not sure what you mean by that statement , but he did say he used to own one I like the GII , I thought about buying one , but fell for the Socom M1A .
  10. I believe it was , jtallen83 , who tried on his Suppressed 308 AR . I don't remember where that Thread or post was , But the other AGB's you mentioned should work . I have a SA Piston system in one of my AR15 Carbines & it works great , but thats not a 308 .
  11. Here is Hornady's offering .
  12. See if this video loads
  13. If you have ever looked a a pulled Bullet that has been Taper Crimped or even more so , from the Lee Factory Crimp Die , you will see they make their own Depression , like a Cannelure . This photo below is a Hand loaded Match Round that because of a Tolerance stacking between two different manufacturers Receivers , would not function with a certain brand of Magazine . The round was shoved into the Barrels Extension , leaving Bolt Locking Lug marks on it . Thats a lot of force pushing that Taper Crimped Bullet against the wrong place ( top ) of the Barrels Extension , the Bullet didn't move .
  14. One also has to remember that what you see & hear on these Forums is when shooters have issues with a Firearm & not too much on all the ones that work . That being said , the fact that any Manufacturer that offers a Firearm for 1/3 of what any other factory Firearms are selling for , to me, is cutting corners somewhere & that in itself turns me off . Not that I don't like inexpensive Firearms or that they are not up to par with the others , but it should make a buyer pause & think about it . Feel free to flame me , all you PSA 308AR owners
  15. I would not really care what the seller says ! Only twenty rounds ? Then it went in the safe , I find that strange . I have seen that on some of these builds that when they warm up , after a mag or two ,the failures start to happen . If possible , I would meet the seller at a known safe gun range to check it out & bring a box or two of ammo .Thats just me , its a big investment & spending $ 20-30 , might save you a bunch of grief later . Now if it was a Factory Rifle , thats different , most have warranties . Have you looked at Factory 308AR's & pricing or are you getting this Rifle at such a good price that its too hard to pass up ( another red flag to me ) This all may not be what you want to hear , but its a big investment , these big bores are not cheap . ( well, unless its a PSA Rifle ) I couldn't resist , because they do sell them at a very low price . I know nothing about the State you live in & its laws on these type Rifles , Edgecrusher can be much more help , if you haven't PM'ed him already , you should .
  16. With proper Neck Tension & a Taper Crimp or Lee's Factory Crimp Die , the Bullets without a Cannelure don't move . I & others load & shoot a lot of Match Bullets with out a Cannelure & have no issues .
  17. As far as Remington 700's , I have shot & been around at least a hundred 700's & I have never heard or seen an issue with them , only read about it . As far as the Savage , as we have already hit on , it may be a combo of things , the Components used , weak Barrels for some reason or another or User's error . This is the first I heard of an issue with them & am not familiar with the model . I remember Deer Hunting in Ohio on a cold morning & set up on a reclaimed Strip Mine , a Coyote came running across the Knee high grass in front of me , I took a running shot at it & when I touched off the Cap/ Black Powder charge , all that smoke , just sat there in front of me , no wind or breeze to move it , I have no idea if I even came close to the Yote . it made for a good laugh to my hunting buddy that was on the other side of the field . He heard me shoot & knew where I was ,but couldn't see me , the smoke cloud just sat there .
  18. What did Kirt Russel say in Tombstone ," I'll make your head into a Canoe "
  19. It looks like I used a Dremel to cut the staking off the inside of the Stem , above the Wheel to remove it for a bolt & Nut .
  20. Criterion
  21. You have come a long way Grass hopper
  22. Sometimes different manufacturers Receivers don't play well together & have tolerance stacking issues . Have you test fired this Rifle ? Only way to know , if it has feeding or Extraction issues or it won't hold back the BCG on last round , walk away . Also see if you can have the Receivers Shotgunned open to inspect the threaded end or the Lower Receiver to see if the BCG is hitting it & see if the Bolt Catch will hold the Bolt back with an empty mag inserted .
  23. The Magazines follower would need to be altered for the Case difference in the 22-250 , but such a pronounced angle should not be needed if the Cartridge is aligned to feed straight in , as with Lancer 7 Mags . With such a pronounced feed angle , you could also have the round tip up & jam, of course that mag was made for a specific ( read proprietary ) Receiver set up & the way it is made may be needed .
  24. That brass with the Cratered Primers looks like it was used in a DPMS GII 308AR, seems they have on early versions of that Model an issue with the Firing Pin hole in the Bolt Face was too large or Firing Pin too small in diameter . Primers are not the only way to diagnose High Pressure loads , the fired case can tell more , with the Case separation being the extreme . Those in the photo above do not show flattened Primers or a hole in them . If they had a hole in the Primer , you may not have seen a flattened primer , because the hole in the Primer would be a pressure relief port . Head space issues can be very dangerous , of course I don't have to tell you that .
  25. Its a Chair replacement roller ( I think it had a stem & I got rid of it to put a Bolt through ) , with an "L" Bracket & a bolt . I have a spare , because they came in a two pack from Home Depot or Ace Hardware . Works real good .
