  1. Welcome from Florida .
  2. I'm watching it now . At home .
  3. Interesting testing https://www.theboxotruth.com/the-box-o-truth-39-oil-vs-primers/
  4. I did that before I retired & gave them up when I did .
  5. Why not ? You just have beat through the pain More Lube !
  6. I too noticed the 25-45 Sharps is light on recoil , I thought on mine ,it was the Geissele Super 42 Buffer system .
  7. It could be , I'm searching for an answer , the Burn rate of the two powders sounded good , with the Powder peaking at a certain point in the barrel made sense , till I thought about it , but now I'm not too sure . What I have to do is run the Ramshot Tac up to the same velocity as the Xterminator & see how that comes out . I have different loading already made up for testing & should have no problem reaching it . The Load for that first comparison was the lowest loading I started out testing . I really like that Xterminator load . Xterminator is a faster burning rate the Tac , but very close to each other , from what I see on the burn rate charts .That may be why the 16" , Mid length gas systems like it , but will not know that till I reach the same velocity to match the Xteminator .
  8. Mid or Rifle on a 308AR if Quality Barrels & THE PROPER BUFFER SYSTEM used , should work with out any fancy mod's , the Mid will have a slight increase in felt recoil , but nothing to speak of . I just believe the Rifle Length Gas system is a smoother running Action .
  9. Man, that looks like a Jammed rifle ( or what ever ) waiting to happen ! What a cluster fuk of parts .
  10. Thanks , I was just looking & found , He has a web sight http://zediker.com has his books & Mr. Tubb's , also other Articles & a lot of books on the AR 15.
  11. I need to find this guys Book .
  12. I think the answer is Powder Burn Rate & it was explained in the Thread I posted here in the reloading section for the M14 .
  13. I started aThread in the Service Rifle section , but it has a wealth of info in it for the Reloader . http://www.zediker.com/downloads/14_loading.pdf
  14. I will also put this in the reloading section , because it has a wealth of info about tools & understanding measurements , Powders, Primers & bullets . Its a long read , but worth it . If I can get it to work . OK this link works . http://www.zediker.com/downloads/14_loading.pdf
  15. I dont know if this was posted before , but Manufacturers & Companies are leaving a sinking ship . https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/wyoming/articles/2018-01-23/california-firearms-manufacturer-moving-to-wyoming
  16. The logistics of changing ammunitions in the military would be astronomical , not to mention the weapon platforms to accommodate it. I don't see it happening in my life time . As was said , if your pipsqueak .22 can reach out & touch the enemy , use other calibers in the inventory , in greater numbers .
  17. Everything being the same with the load , weighed charges , same bullets , same COL , Same Primers , same Brass ( LC ), two twist rates , side by side comparison . Why would a a 1-8 be faster then a 1-7 at one velocity , but slower at a higher velocity , they were different Powders used , but why would that have anything to do with it . The side by side comparison in the first test with TAC Powder the 1-8 avg. was 25 fps faster then the 1-7 twist , then with a different Powder ( Xterminator ) with a larger Powder charge , do a 180 & switch the 1-7 having an avg. velocity of 43 fps faster then the 1-8 twist . Is it the Piston system with the atmospheric discharge using less gas to operate the Action properly or efficiently ( because its adj. ) meaning more gas is actually staying in the Bore , behind the Bullet , then the DI system that is fixed orifice & the wasted or excessive gas is going into the Upper Receiver ? Both Barrels are 16" , Mid Gas systems , the 1-7 is Nitrated & the 1-8 is Stainless steal , both about the same round count . ( low ) 1-7 a Piston system. 1-8 a DI system . Thoughts ?
  18. Ya , he was taking them to the limit to qualify them for Major caliber class in three gun matches . He didn't care if he could reuse his brass .
  19. We both know the BATF can change a ruling in a Heart beat .
  20. I grease everyone of mine , might depend on the grease & outside temps with some grease .I also put grease on the bottom & sides of the Carrier , where the Hammer will ride & the rails of the Carrier , I use Red & Tacky Synthetic Grease , has never had an issue . On new Builds I put a very small dab on the back Of the Bolt Lugs at first testing .
  21. My TrueBall worked just fine in my smooth bore 12 Ga.. These things look nasty , 8 water jugs , isn't that a little over penetration for Deer ? I have also stoned Big Ohio deer with a Sabot at 158 yards , measured with a Rangefinder , so don't see these imported all that much better then what is out there for Deer sized game , maybe barrier penetration .
  22. Do you think you will need to tune a Rifle length Gas system ?
  23. The guy promoting this is full of it ! A rifle is not defined by Rifling in the Barrel ( this one has Lands & Groves ), Its how it is configured , length of Barrel . No stock or the so called Pistol Brace on an AR , makes it a Pistol , doesn't matter whats in the Barrel . That thing is set up as an SBR , period . That company making it , is in for a big surprise . I have a Rifled Barrel on my 12 ga. Slug gun & its still designated as a Shotgun & it shoots shot gun ammo , sabot 'ed projectile , but still shotgun .
  24. I built a XM-177 copy ,select fire M16 , 10.5" BBL. with an original XM -177 Flash hider , the full auto mag dump was something to behold , it looked like a blow torch on night firing , probably 8-10 feet out . Wasn't much of a flash hider , but according to the BATF , it dropped the decibel sound signature 2 decibels & they considered it a Sound Suppressor & it could only be on a copy or an actual XM-177 M16..Not sure of they classify it the same way anymore . Looked just like this & no thats not me !
