  1. First for me , I some how missed them being for sale . I thought it was a prop for the Lowers . <dontknow> Thanks
  2. You probably should read up on Head Spacing , the way you described your procedure , I would not be surprised if your gage is compromised . The ejector should be removed for proper head spacing & some gages need the Extractor removed also , you only use light finger pressure to see if gage & bolt seat , not the buffer spring pressure or letting the BCG drop on the gage , it can make the precision gage useless . Aslo wipe bolt & Barrel extension locking lugs of excess lubricants . The Ejector puts pressure on the gage & can cause it to give false readings. If there is a grove at the back of the gage for the Extractor , it can be left in the Bolt .
  3. I would look for a new Gunsmith !
  4. This will be interesting watching these mod's. progress .
  5. This is an old thread & I read my posts , a lot has changed since then with my opinion on using Stainless steel tumbling media , I still tumble with std walnut media , before I size it , but the final cleaning is done with the wet mixture & S/S media now , before loading & I will not use any thing else.
  6. Looks like some kind of pin on the Key , at the back part of it , is why I asked . Nice looking rifle .
  7. The " Umbrella Corporation " on the pistol grip is a nice touch. Can I get that on mine ? I smell a group buy . >:D
  8. Is the Bolt Carrier , Key , part of the Bolt Carrier or attached in some way ? Is it screws or pins or rivets , holding that steel feed ramp on ?
  9. Nice , now go shoot & tell us what you think of the rifle .
  10. They be , out of stock , at this time . You guy's must have bought them all up , I still like making my own .
  11. A good Magnet , invert the lower so the pin can drop out to the magnet( might take some finagling ) Unless the separate catch pin is jammed into the far end of the hole . Sounds like theres some thing not right with the Bolt catch spring . The spring & detent hold the catch in a rest position ( out of the way of the cycling BCG ) until the magazine follower push's it up on last round to hold the BCG locked back . Photo's would be nice .
  12. I run STD DPMS buffers & springs in my 308AR's . I do have a Superior Springs (Tubb's ) flate wire spring in my 16" , but was experimenting with different thing to fix a feeding problem that had nothing to do with the rifle , it was the PMag's , that will not work in this CMMG lower /w SI Defense upper , I know I keep bringing this up , but it goes to show you , a problem may have nothing to do with the build . I kept the Tubb's spring in because I like it , has reduced recoil & the brass just drops in the same place & easy pick up .
  13. I kinda wonder how the Polymer rail would hold up with a bipod on it . That rail will take a lot of stress . I only use steel( @ a min. , Aluminum ) rails for bipod use , if I have to add one, on a round thread on hand guard. Most other FF hand guards have provisions to add rails .
  14. Was wondering why my toe's hurt <laughs> I thought it was just my Gout . If the poster is reading this , what are the spec's of your rifle ? What do you want to use it for ( hunting , long range or just normal combat ranges )?
  15. If you have needed a COL gage for one of your 45ACP or other pistol barrels that you can remove, just pull the barrel off the pistol & use it as a COL gage . This is from my reloading for 45 ACP , I use an old 1911 barrel I replaced on an old Remington Rand 1911 . Barrel is still a shooter bbl. , even though its an old one . The COL in a 1911 type barrel should be flush with the shroud of the barrel or very close to it as seen in the photo's . One photo shows to long of a COL & the other is usually where I seat them to . You can use pretty much any pistol barrel that you can remove , just use a factory round to see where it seats to (or a known proper COL cartridge )& seat your reloads to it . All bullets are not made to the same specs even though they are the same cal. & gr. weight, so seeing how they seat in a barrel is a good gage . I use a lot of manufacturers bullets that you don't see in the reloading manuals , so you really don't know there COL. The photo's don't show how big a difference there really is . Hard to get a good angle , but you should get the idea.
  16. Photo's ?
  17. Amazing how they multiply , with out sex !
  18. Just something about forming your own brass & loading it , that makes it a whole lot more fun to shoot .
  19. I couldn't see his finger moving !
  20. Separate pin & set screw leaves out the turning down of a long set screw to make it a pin & DPMS pins are known to break . I know, I had one break , went to an SI Defense, S/S pin & have no problem since & I think its just a turned down set screw also , but stronger . I think TM's idea is a good one .
  21. What's took you guy's so long ? <munch> I also fought with myself about adding another caliber to reload for , but it was worth it , its a fun & deadly caliber. The first time you shoot one , you know its not a 5.56.
