  1. I would not make the spring hole any larger , the drill bit is just to take measurement & make sure the hole is clear of anything from machining marks or burr's . I'll measure mine 98. 1.130" on my BRO lower, I used a straw from a spray lubricant , to take & measure . If you need the spring length , let me know ,I buy them by the ten's ,because so many lose them & its detent. Can you see the spring in the oiling hole , for that spring , if it has it , some lowers don't , my CMMG doesn't .
  2. You can use a dill bit that's close to the spring hole dia. & just using your fingers , spin it in the hole & see if its got a burr or the depth of the spring hole is wrong or too shallow . You can always cut the spring down if the hole is not deep enough. 98 I can beat you , I have a lower unassembled in the safe, but I know how much you want to disassemble that pivot pin, so I won't measure it .
  3. And the price went up since I last looked . that didn't take long .
  4. Man , one would think the smaller the round count , the price would drop accordingly . I guess $ 1 .00 is a lot of difference. <dontknow> I think I just paid 17.00 each , for the new gen. LR Pmag
  5. I think Natchez still has 8 # kegs of 4064 still.
  6. Well , the problem is , some jerk ran into my wife's new Mustang & all I got are my Harley's to run any where & have no place to load the hardware for the range . Its about dark thirty when she gets home & i'm lucky to see the truck on weekends , wait, I did redo the rear brakes & rotor's this past weekend , so I guess I did see the truck . I should have my truck back tomorrow , with luck & get range time Saturday. I have made up some different loadings for some 168 gr. SMK's & IMR 4064. I can't wait to put this in at the range.
  7. Ya know, if this thing he capped, is real or some what real & its go human DNA , as one said in the comments, he could be charged with Murder .
  8. <thumbsup>
  9. I had to edit the rifle length ,because I & others have 16" barrels with rifle length gas systems , I missed that change.
  10. See post # 20 by me <laughs> I also see Lancer is coming out with , five ,ten & twenty rd. mags for the DPMS 308 type rifles . I have an email to them to find out when they plan on selling them.
  11. Hollyworld , would change the color of the SUN to make a movie that some may watch. Right now , its all about Warrior hero's , to get people to invest in there trade. It may have been about a true story , but Hollyworld will twist it around to make it "there" reality , that's for sure . I don't invest in there world any more , no matter what its about .
  12. Its not metal , I would screw it up for sure . <laughs> What the hell would you use to finnish it off ? I'll let the young un's figure it out, this old dog doesn't need any new tricks .
  13. Would also depend on , if your hunting with a 308 . I might be more inclined to use a 150"s gr. class of bullet. Long range hunting may even go heavier than 168 gr., hard to say with out testing with the rifle. That's what makes reloading such fun , all the variables & choices you have to set a caliber up to work in your firearm.
  14. Some times its a challenge to get what you want for a 308AR build , just makes it more memorable at the end . <thumbsup>
  15. I emailed them on the launch date.
  16. No real need for the SB sizing die , unless you load your ammo for different 308 rifles , as I do & I use SB for both 308 & 223. I have had some ammo loaded for my 5.56 with FL die that showed some better grouping , but I only have the SB sizing die for the 308 , so I can't compare the 308's , yet. I'm looking at die sets now , looking into a match set. Sorry to say it , but you will have to shoot your choice of bullets to see which your barrel will like . I like the 168 any thing for both of my AR's but they shoot the Mil spec Ball fodder pretty good also, but no where near what the 168 SMK"s to Hornady Match will do.
  17. Carbine receiver extension requires a 308 carbine spring & buffer , be it AR 10 or DPMS/SR25 type .
  18. SYSTEM Barrel length Port distance PISTOL > 10" 4 " Carbine 10 - 18 " 7 " MID > - 20 " 9" Rifle 16 > 12 " I would think the measurements would be from the chamber , but could be wrong & not all barrel & rifle manufacturers go by this , but most do. Your 13 " hand guard should cover the low profile gas block . I personally like them exposed for several reasons , one being able to service or replace the gas block, with out removing the hand guard.
  19. Them a$$holes ( politicians )will just pass some thing, to make it to difficult to sell or buy , to get around it ,like they've been doing all along .
  20. Cut a block of wood or poly board ,(like a cutting board) too fit in between the spring & make it fit any rd. count you want . I have done it with FN 20 rd. mags. for hunting before . You will have to experiment with the length & shape , but it works & its legal , because the mag. will only except what its blocked for. When they check shotguns , they unload the shotgun & reload it to see if it will take more than two in the mag tube . Same with a detachable mag. . Use a 10 or 20 rd. mag. & that will also take care of having something to grasp, to remove it .
  21. Trimming 300 BLK brass.
  22. ASC/L very nice & light.
  23. I had to use the ,Pivot & disassembly pins ,that came with my 308 TM. upper, for them to fit. The ones that were in my complete DPMS lower would only go in about a 1/4 " in the TM. upper. <dontknow>
  24. The flash from my 16" was impressive & very loud . I put a VLtor flash/muzzle brake on it & the shooters next to me quit asking what kind of cannon I was shooting. I have a rifle length gas system & I think that may make a difference. As far as how short for an SBR , well thats up to you & your barrel maker. I know some have 14" on ,but not sure how they shoot or perform , you have to remember there are trade offs for having a short barrel .
