    ohio hunt

Dismal year , weather was mostly real cold. I got a Deer with my crossbow & slug gun ,but Pickens were scarce . I did miss a nice buck with my cross bow early in the last week of Archery , before gun week, but that was the best of the two week hunt. County kill was 38% low this year , I hear. What I think is really cool is, I mounted my Contour HD video camera to my cross bow & shotgun & have video of the buck miss & a Doe shot at 80 + yards. Just have to figure how to put them here,if I can.
  3. FDE is where's its at !
  4. There might be a few if I remember correctly.
  5. MY ejection pattern changed on my 16 " 308 with the flat wire & the rifle seems to shoot smoother , but the last part is not a scientific fact , just my observation
  6. Why not have a dedicated 300blk upper ? That way you can have a 20" 5.56/223 & a 300blk with one lower , like having two rifles .
  7. The 110's spit out there pretty good . I have not gone the max yet or close to it , but they shoot very well from my 16" 1-8 , Wilson Combat barrel . Barne's is coming out with a 115 gr. pill or may be out already.
  8. Nice .
  9. If you don't notice that when seating , which you should , final inspection should have discovered it , for sure.
  10. Well I do need one for my Black Rain Ordinance receiver set . Does it never end ! :'( Gotta wait till I come back from Hunt Camp .
  11. That sucks ! Any idea why it came apart ? Just weakened from age & use ? Never mind , I see you posted it .
  12. Now that's envy !
  13. Well, he's welcome to spend some time here if he wants. it may benefit his business . I can believe , time, would be a problem for him. Most of us here are used to fitting grips & such . As long as its not too much. The 30'06 is some thing I would also be interested in building, so I will be following how it goes. I would also like to here about your range time with this lower. Looks like a solid platform.
  14. One of us , no way ! ::)
  15. Clean the threads of oil/grease & use a little blue loc tite on them to keep hand guard torqued . You will still be able to remove it, if need be . There are a lot of good triggers out there . If you want to keep it with a std. type trigger , Spikes Tactical has a enhanced trigger set , that are NIB coated & mine settled it at about 5 1/2 # & is nice & smooth . ALG Defense also has some nice smooth triggers in stock configuration , the one I have has settled out at about 5 1/4 # & is also coated . Both triggers are in the $ 60 range, The ALG has two types to choose from . And of course , there's always the higher dollar ones , which are much better. Most don't have the problems , you are experiencing with your DPMS . I think they have the largest production numbers of all that pattern of 308AR's & with a lot of them being produced , you get a few that are sub par . Sending it back many times is not a good reference to there customer service, that's for sure .
  16. You say it has a roll pin for the bolt stop , if need be how would you remove it ? I see no way to get a pin punch to the opposite side to remove it . DPMS & others use a screw pin for the ability to remove the bolt stop . In my opinion , this prototype has a kinda crude look , nice solid looking lower though. What is the protrusion on the front of the mag well ? Or is that for multi mag type configurations ? The BAR 30'06 is interesting , but we have already discussed what would be needed to make a complete rifle happen (98 brought much of that up )
  17. If head space was good , I find it odd that there would be something wrong with the chamber , but as said , a chamber casting would be the true gage of what its spec's are . Throat could be wrong or not enough . The barrel bore may even be wrong . Hard to say The fact that different bullet configurations are producing the same results is troubling.
  18. Check the primer pocket for build up , which may be keeping it from going all the way in or a primer crimp may also cause this problem & or your primer seating may need adj. , if that machine has that ability . My guess is primer crimp . If so , you can get a tool made by various manufacturers to remove it or lightly de-burr it with a case neck de-burring tool.
  19. I'm in on one , but even $ 350 is too much for just a trigger system to me & as said , even though they say BATFE approved , it will not take long before BATFE says some thing to the contrary , me thinks.
  20. Should be OK , now using a scope cover may be problematic . You can always use higher rings or mount , if you want to go that route.
  21. I have used the RCBS lube & pad for 20 + years or more & am using the Dillon spray lube now & its been working great . The cases have to be lubed ether individually or sprayed, to resize . Clean the inside of the die often to keep build up low & if your die has a vent port , make sure it stays clear. RCBS & others sell a brush to lube the inside of the case for sizing .I tumble my brass with Walnut or corn cob media before I start & then size , de-prime , then they go into the Tumbler with hot water , some dish soap , Lemishine & SS tumbling media & it looks better than new , when done . The mixture removes every thing but brand new looking brass.
  22. "One shot with each trigger pull" Seems to me your only pulling it once ,but with multiple shots, mechanically or not . I don't see it hold up with in the existing law.( but would still like to have one ) I have owned both a FNHB & M 14 , in select fire & they eat ammo ,just like any other full auto , but the 308 in full auto is a blast . I'm working on some VHS tapes & turning them into DVD's , its going to take me a while to get the process down , so I can share them. (hunting season )
  23. Good luck finding the powder you want . Kinda hit & miss with just about all types . Primers are starting to get , well I wouldn't say plentiful , but there are more out there. Be careful & read up & practice , have fun . I weigh my brass & put them in weight categories , even the same head stamp.
  24. The Dillon RL 550B is convertible & has conversions for just about any caliber you want & is quit easy to change them . Dillon does have machines that are caliber specific , but just in pistol calibers , if memory serves me . The Square deal "B" is pistol caliber specific , had to look it up .
