  1. The spot on the Upper Receiver can be dressed up with stones or fine file , it appears to be from the machining process . There are no Mil Spec standards for the 308 AR Builders world , as you know , Tolerance Stacking is a real possibility when using a mixture of components from various manufacturers . The Hammer is more then likely forcing the Receivers apart when Disassembly pin is out . May just mean the two different BCG Manufacturers use different dimensions for their Carriers or it could mean a issue with the Hammer's Travel ark & its hitting the top of the Disconnector in the Trigger assembly & that may only be an issue with the one BCG , be it binding or Hammer interference .
  2. I can tell you the Brand or manufacturer of the Gages make a difference , we have seen it here where some have tried not only two sets of the same manufacturers HS Gages & another brand then what Faxon uses & had the same results you are getting , but the HS passed with the PT&G . If you have a hybrid Chamber , good luck on any std HS Gage set working the way you want or expect . Doesn't mean they are unserviceable , just the Barrel manufacturer has custom HS Gages they use . In most cases Hs is done with out the Ejector ( because it installs false pressure on the Bolt for testing ) & Extractor ( because it can inferrer with the test also , by putting sideward pressure on the Gage , even if there is cut out on the gage for it ) Not all 308 Extractors are made with the same dimensional characteristics " Tolerance Stacking " something you see a lot in the non Mil Spec 308 AR's , but not in Factory Rifles or Mil Spec Rifles . Its just the way it is & I don't see any of the different manufacturers getting together to make all the components ," Mil Spec " or even some kind of factory spec . I test mine with the Bolt & Extension Dry ( oiled but wiped off ), no Ejector or Extractor & I test ,both before the Barrel is installed & after the Barrel is installed on the Receiver .
  3. Seems like reasonable & logical thinking
  4. I had a Dealer sample M14 when I was an FFL , it was nice , but full auto dumps were kinda all over the place , even for the most experienced ( select fire )shooters. My FN HB was a dream in full auto dumps compared to the M14 , because of its weight , most could keep them all in the general area . I had two M1A's in my day & I love the rifle in semi auto only, this Socom is very quick to swing up to sighting , the std M1A was much slower , it seemed the Socom was a natural to me , so its why I picked it over the other M1A . I also like the wood better then the Plastic , but the Socom looks great & I can live with the Black stock . And to think , I almost walked out with a Gen. 5 Glock , till I looked at the other wall in Top Gun & the M1A's have been out of stock for a while , they just got those two in the other day , I know because I stop by there when in the area & I was just there last week before Christmas . I would have walked out with it , but because of Hurricane Irma , I have to replace my roof & my deductible is $ 5698.00 + another almost 1K for the upgrades , total roof cost $ 14,727.00, so needless to say I have to wait a little to play with my new Socom . They put the material up yesterday & were to start today , but we have a rain delay till tomorrow I want a US MBR set , I have a 1903A3 , M1 Garand , the Socom will stand in for a std M1A(M14 ) & I'm building a AR 15 A2 with a Tactical Machining Second Amendment Lower Receiver & I have two complete A2 Uppers & I will use one for the A2 . Then I have to look for a M1 Carbine .
  5. Cool , get out there & see how the 98 special Lube works .
  6. Me too!
  7. Testing in-between those stages would also be a good idea .
  8. I just put $$ down on one of these today , this one has a Tritium front sight . It does look fatter then the STD .
  9. Out of caution , drill in stages , if you get to that point ,where you have to drill the Port out . I would think the 7mm'08 would be close to 308 Port sizes . Run the Action wet , don't be shy on the Lubricant.
  10. I see the 308 version is no longer on sale now or even showing up , but the 223 is still showing on sale & in stock .
  11. Here's some info on Gas Port sizing . https://forum.308ar.com/topic/15037-barrel-gas-port-size308338260243-etc/
  12. Blue tip up , my red tip was up
  13. The AR 15 Shift Pins caught my eye , but thinking about it , I don't remove my Pins . https://www.strikeindustries.com/shop/ar-15shift-pins.html
  14. I too need a mount or Rings , all my Rings are "Med or High , I need Xtra High in what ever I decide . I may give Mr. Larue some business , I also like the Warne one piece mounts ,I will have to look at the Scope height(s) I just ordered another Scanner for the SRS & ABS codes , it also does the Engine codes , not to mention , live data , looks pretty cool .
  15. Commiefornia gun ?
  16. I have settled on 155gr.,308 Bullets , I will probably never shoot 800 yards ( but would love to ) & if I need Heavies , I have them tested & loaded already . The 155's work very well in both my 308AR's , sub MOA & in CQB , less recoil for better follow up shots . Not a thing wrong with the 308/7.62x51, its a great cartridge for Combat , and proven ! The Arthur can dislike the 308 all he wants , its his right to do so .
  17. I have had several M1 Carbines , even one that was Chromed for Parade use , I think it was a Winchester , not sure , but have no use for the Cartridge at all . Good collectors rifle , but to me they were kinda boring to shoot . I'll take my M1 Garand , may be heavy & only eight rounds , but the power the 30'06 has is legendary . The .30 cal Carbine , not so much .
  18. I have one of those & it shoots pretty good , its on my Piston Rifle . Nitrated & was easy to clean tonight. Much easier then the Wilson Combat Match Stainless I cleaned earlier . Not sure the round count on the Rifles & which had the higher count , if at all .
  19. I had to buy a Clock Spring for the Steering Wheel on my Truck , it was $ 134 , so there went buying another scope this month Damn !
  20. I can see that because of the scope of this investigation that it will take some time , but this is ridiculous ! http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/12/22/las-vegas-shooting-fbi-official-says-info-on-motive-may-take-until-next-october-to-release.html Now if his Gambling debts were part of or the issue , we going to ban Gambling ?
  21. Both scopes are on sale for the same price , I decided on the 223 version , because its going on one . I still may order the 308 version for future use .
  22. Was my thoughts also , unless brass was all of a sudden hard to come by for some reason or another .
  23. Just blink & it will change up there this time of year .
  24. I get a audience when I take my M1 & 1903A3 to the range .
  25. 98, I was going to post that , you beat me too it , I think Robo just read the Thread title & didn't look at the Photo's . Good example of where a Box Mag would be of real use .
