I had 62 gr. Bul;let loads with me that break the 3100fps speed from a 24" 1-10 Barrel , didn't try them , just wanted to test to see if the Exhausted Gas Piston system would reduce Bullet speed in any significant way , which in any case is not much , so to me its insignificant which gas system you are running , as far as Bullet speed differences . The TAC Powder loads were a test batch of lower powered loads , working up , I had 24.0 gr. , 24.5 gr. & I think 25 gr. Loaded with me , not to mention some other Loads with different Powder & loadings . I will Chrono them at another time , I think it will interesting to see if the FPS span changes with higher velocities , but I doubt it will change much . Sure there is , all I have to do is swap out Gas Systems & Bolt Carriers & Upper receivers , the Piston system has a Bushing in the Gas Tube Hole on the Upper Receiver . I see no reason to even do that , there is not much difference in FPS spread to even do any further testing IMO . Even a Adj.Gas Block would not make much of a difference ,IMO also , well maybe if you closed all gas to the Gas system , but that would be another story . I was just curious , because it has been discussed before or brought up .

I agree with Sisco , I sighted the Scope in @ 100 yards & put out some very good groups with the ACT Trigger group in the Rifle , but I too didn't buy it for long range precision work ( Wife's Carbine ) . I do like it & wish I would have purchased another when Brownells had them for $79 , now they are gone & it reads obsolete .

Check these fellows out with their new Pistola's .

Dumped 300 rounds through the P320C today , 147 gr. , 124 gr. & 115 gr. , not one hiccup , ran great , spit out everything . A Fine Pistol , going to clean her & start to carry her , I did have one issue , mostly because I forgot a Belt , twice I had to grab the IWB Holster to keep from pulling the Holster & Pistol both out of my pants . Still drew & fired , just had to grab the Holster before I got my support hand up to the Pistol , went smooth after the first time & didn't do it every time . Its a brand new Leather Holster , so its expected. -
Even if didn't or couldn't use it at work , it would be a good practice Rifle for both of you . I'm with Edge , go 16" , light , but not too light of contour , I have a 16" Kreiger/Criterion HB & its pretty heavy , these Rifles are heavy enough with out over doing it with the Barrel .

It was an interesting day at the range , I actually thought this one test would have come out different , it just opened new questions , in a way. Look at the Chrono. results between two 16" Mid Gas systems rifles , one is a Superlative Piston set up the other is a DI gas system .Two different twist rate Barrels , a 1-8 & a 1-7 , two different manufacturers & barrel Contours , one an Match SS Light weight Barrel , the other a Gov. weight , Nitrated Barrel . Both have Free Float Hand guards. Rifle # 1 - POF Billet Receivers , Wilson Combat , SS match 1-8 Barrel , Mid Gas , DI , 16" BBL ( $ 235 )., Bushnell 1x4 AR Optics Rifle Scope w BDC reticle . ACT Trigger Rifle # 2 - Tactical Machining Receivers , Mil Spec., Brownells Gov/ weight , Nitrated , 16" Mid Gas . 1-7 twist rate Barrel ( $ 89. ) ./w Superlative Mid Gas Piston assembly , Burris 2x7x35 Fullfield E1 Reticle , Rough Justice Trigger . Ammo - Hand loads , 62 gr. FMJHP w/Cannelure , 23.5 gr. TAC Powder, CCI Primer , .223 brass . I have hotter loads , but didn't shoot them this time . Rifle # 1 (10 shot ) Avg . Velocity ES SD 2661 fps 136 fps 44 Rifle # 2 ( 10 shot ) 2636 fps 56 fps 19 So , the match Barrel looks like it doesn't like this Loading , but both shot very well . I don't get the Chrono results & the Target results , but maybe it doesn't matter, Any thoughts on this ? Twist rate , Piston system ? Good question here or should I say preliminary results , is the DI Rifle only has about on avg. 25 fps over the Exhausted Gas Superlative Piston system . More testing is needed with other loadings I have , on another date , but 25fps is not much , so evidently , this piston system where excess gas is exhausted out or Bled out instead of just valved off to only let enough into the Gas Tube to cycle the Action sufficiently . Both Barrels are relatively new , very low round counts .I'm pleasantly surprised how well they both shot , the Piston rifle with the Rough Justice Trigger had the edge with a better Scope & Trigger & it does show in the group size , but as I got used to the ACT Trigger , the rifle shoot well @ 100yds. I shot the # 1 Rifle first & sighted the Scope in , let it cool while I tested the # 2 Rifle .

Sounds like its working fine , the Port cover opens before the case is completely out of the Chamber . Most Hunting rifles of all type , have no cover on the Ejection Port . It is possible that the Port Cover is interfering with BCG travel & slowing it down enough to cause a Ejection issue , if its too tight & too hard to open . I'm not sure if one of the Strike Industries Port Covers would work on your LAR 8 , but there's have an adj. for the Ball Detent that holds the Cover in place when covering the Port . https://www.strikeindustries.com/shop/products/rifle-accessories/ultimate-dust-cover-for-308.html

I used to put a Mummy type inside a STD sleeping bag with pad underneath & sometimes used two of them older type mil. surplus sleeping thermal pads under me to keep warm in northern PA hunting from a tent .
-
With an unloaded rifle ,When you manually charge the action with the Ejection Port cover closed , does it pop right open when retracting the BCG ? The BCG opens that Port Cover , so unless its sticking closed some how when the BCG is retracting , it should not be hindering your Ejection. And you really don't need the Ejection Port Cover , it can be removed if its causing an issue , which is odd .

Did you think of rotating the Bags zipper to the front of you while in a Hammock .

Here is a good article on the 1911 program . http://taskandpurpose.com/army-m1911-pistols-sale-price-date/ -
Also , There is a Firing Pin in the BCG , Wonder if the Firing Pin ,Retainer , secured the Firing Pin correctly. Watching your Video again , I see you forced the Buffer back into the Receiver Extension to close the Receivers , I don't think the BCG is all the way locked up , I believe the BCG should move that Buffer out of the way when closing with out having to push it out of the way . Tolerance Stacking can cause all kinds of strange issues. First time the Mortaring procedure didn't work that I have seen or heard , but that could mean something is out of wack , spec wise or something moved where it shouldn't of . I think we had a member here that assembled his BCG with out the Firing Pin to test chambering a loaded round , because he had no Dummy round to use . He got lucky & he was able to work it till the Cam Pin aligned right & the Bolt unlocked .

I had a WWII Remington Rand for a while , I would buy another for a respectable price . When I first got it ( $ 125 , 1978 ) there was no front sight , I replaced it by straking another on & it blew off after the first shot , so I fitted a new Barrel & Bushing ( both surplus parts ) & it was a great shooter after that . And I still have the Barrel . But not the Pistol . -
I see in your Video that you have the Upper shot gunned apart so you will need to remove the Barrel , hard to visualize what is locking the BCG up . Did you assemble the Barrel on the Upper Receiver & the Hand Guard ?
-
Pulling the Barrel off would be a last resort . I haven't seen a stuck Bolt yet that the Mortaring procedure wouldn't free it up .
-
AS was said early in this Thread , Make sure your stock is collapsed fully ( if it has a Carbine stock set up) & use the Mortar procedure to free the BCG up . Once its free , remove the Ejector for Head Spacing , some even remove the Extractor & that will relieve some pressure on the Bolt fit into the Locking Lugs of the Receiver Extension . I always check Head Space with dry components , wipe the Chamber , Bolt & Barrel Extension Locking Lugs with dry patches to make sure its not loaded up with oil or Grease . If it was oiled up , it will still be in the pores of the Metal , which you want for a HS check , you cant get it all off with out a solvent any way . Also as said , some of these Parts Rifles using components that were never tested together as a Factory rifle components are with R&D , so they can be assembled by factory line type of assemblers , they sometimes tend to need a round count to seat the Friction components . Caution Do so at your own risk if not Head Spaced before shooting . I check HS before I assemble the Barrel on the Upper Receiver & after . I still get calls of your same issue on new Factory Rifles , which you shouldn't need to check HS , but there are some tight ones out there . Try to chamber a Dummy round & see how it functions .

Collectors will want to eat all of these Pistols up . They have a History & are worth more . I will try for one , as long as the price is respectable . -
Springs http://www.sprinco.com/tactical.html http://www.davidtubb.com/tubb-springs Nothing wrong with your STD DPMS Carbine Buffer , there are tens of thousands of them working just fine out there .

This . ^^^^^^ & as has been said, try a different Mag , even a different brand of Mag.
-
Like a AR 10 or close to it , POF can run a lot of proprietary components , but if it was a whole kit , it should work . The Anti Tilt Receiver Extension will not stop the BCG from hitting, if it was going back far enough to hit the Lower Receiver .
-
Now if they only let the M1's in from South Korea . http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2017/11/24/trump-permit-citizens-buy-military-surplus-1911-pistols/

Makes sense & is why I asked for a photo of what is being hit , also if it had makes from the 18" Upper , how would you know the 16" wasn't hitting . . 0.781" Port in the Barrel , doesn't seem too large for a Mid Length Gas system , not sure , I only run Rifle length gas systems on 308AR's . How did you tell that the BCG is no longer hitting the Lower Receiver ? Color the marks ? The Ejected Brass issue could be several things , tight or rough Chamber , over/under gassed , improper Head Space , improper Chamber dimensions , issues with Bolt components (Extractor , Ejector systems ). I just had an old AR 15 Build that started barely Ejecting fired brass & it was a weak Buffer Spring , changed it & it went back to Ejecting properly , just goes to show you all the components in the Rifles Action contribute to its working . I believe there is more to this then just the Buffer System .
