  3. Bubba You can use flitz polish on a shotgun bore mop ....thats the least invasive thing to do....ive done it just for shitz and giggles...you might try that....oh yep it worked ! Wash
  4. So after this 1000 yd rifle is assembled ....there's one piece of the puzzle yet to be mentioned...and that be the optics...."if ya cant see it...ya cant kill it" so I think we should keep Ryan's budget under two thousand for the scope and mount....what do yall think? Wash

" The Aluminum that they are using looks awfully soft to flex like that , but the 308 does have some power & it showed it on the Gas Block" Survival...but of course it looks cheesy/soft...its Chinese aluminum....no insult to anyone but most of our stuff comes from there....I used to deal with a Chinese dist. that had gas blocks that looked just like this one... its most always the Chinese threads and screws that suk....... its sad but true Wash I did some snooping around...Bravo Co gas blocks are made in the USA (steel) ...and a few others all machined in steel I like this place BTE made in USA http://www.bte-usa.com/#!gas-blocks/c1wvt

JR Good for you on doing it yourself ! If I can I like to do my own work so that's why I am not shipping it back. Do you know if there is a specified torque on the 8-32 screws? I think its like 90 inch pounds? 90 inch pounds sounds bout right....Oh...you will prolly need to take off the muzzle device if there is one...take note of its position....the builder prolly used locktite on the handguard threads...ask them....heatgun needed if they did Wash

Jross Welcome to the forum ! im sure if its a standup company they will take care of it. I was just reading a couple of days ago about why a poster didnt like aluminum gas blocks...because the gas port erodes fairly fast... yours just wasnt installed properly.. ...ive always used steel gas blocks ....from what I can see in the pic you will need a belt strap wrench to unscrew the handguard...and you will need a 308 dpms claw to hold the upper in a vise....you should ask the install co if they used locktite on the handguard threads? Your gastube could be bent too ...why dont you just ship it back ? Wash
  10. Good for you ! take your time...and we need some pics Wash

  15. Nice work Tooln ! If you lived here in Big D...we would both be in trouble all the time lol Wash
  16. Hey Mineral Mega's are sweet ! Yep the upper and lowers are really well machined and do fit great ! Ive read where folks literally dunk the bcg in oil then sling it off.....me personally...I just give a new rifle a healthy dose of mobil one or Mpro 7 in/on the bcg....you dont wanna bake in oil or grease in the chamber, but I put just a tad of grease on the new bolt lugs and work the action a bit without ammo. Be sure and clean your barrel before break in.... I think the important thing is to lube up nice and good the proper ar lube points as described in an ar manual.... everyone has their " special " way of break in lubing...Yes ill run mine wet on the first out of the box break in,but oil running down my arm from the rifle...Nah ...dont forget to lube up the buffer spring ...I think that relubing your bcg is key after shooting a new rifle a while...like some folks say "If ya aint got oil spray on your shootin glasses then you aint wet enough" Wash
  17. Bu everything is fine....the the spent cases that are hitting the ejection port is fine...its what happens.. the anodizing on my rifles gets bruised too at the port lol Wash

    First build

Shepp....if I remember correctly ive got a hardened firing pin thats made for 762x39s because of the hard primers in the mil surp ammo...ill look it up for you heres' one of many http://www.blackriflearms.com/AR-762x39-Enhanced-Firing-Pin_p_9.html http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-ar47-762x39-firing-pin.html Wash
  20. Like Matt said...it wont work....so Ive been looking around to see how all the switchbacks fit....pretty much like yours...some a lil tighter...but the way it fits with that gap I was thinking its a cheapo handguard..But its not ! sheesh... theres no reason to start off on a new build with a gap like that....and to top it off they aint exactly giving them away....any chance of sending it back and get something that fits nice? Wash
  21. scroll down the page for some decent ideas http://www.jsesurplus.com/ar308.aspx http://www.apexhandguard.com/308-handguards/ these are first class Wash
  22. Oh okay...miss read thought you both had the same sharp ramp issue...so since they are two different barrels and two different uppers....then the fitment issue of the gap must be the fortis handguard........ and now after looking at the video and see how the rail attaches im thinkin they are trying to reinvent the wheel....who or why would need to quickchange the handguard with a clamping lever ? Wash
  23. Frank and Halo you both have the same problemo I see....if it were me I would return those handguards and or barrels...both of those barrels look like they missed a machining step...those ramps are pitiful....ive never seen ramps that look like that. You all could have a mismachined barrel that could cause that gap or the handguard could be the problem....in any case I wouldnt have a rifle that looked like that...the uppers are different so I guess you could rule out the upper... im not dissing your builds but you should have a nice piece and not settle for that gap and then theres the barrel...yikes! Wash
