  1. Welcome SML! What's the story on your cougar? Jon
  2. Went into Murphy's Guns today, to see what they had. Surprisingly they had several AR-style .22 rifles. They had a Daniel Defense AR in .300 Blackout for $1600+change. They also had one of the H&K wooden-stocked semi-auto hunting rifles (tempting!), couldn't read the caliber from my position. Plenty of higher-capacity 9mm and other caliber pistols. No shortage of revolvers (Smith 325 Night Guard for $725-ish). They also had the Mossberg like Tom just bought, for under $600, with a 30-round mag stuffed in it. ALMOST bought the Kahr CW45, used, for $299! Jon
  3. Yup. After the Tucson shooting libs were given free license by the media to say anything vile and slanderous. I went as far as to call local radio and state "Prior to this I made an effort to listen to anyone's point of view, if it was done respectfully. Now I can see they are totally full of crap and disrespect, vile and hateful. They will never have my ear again." Jon
  4. Yes. I have both metric and inch, steel and polymer. Jon
  5. I had to shut it off. The tone from libs seems to be towards a gun ban. When the police chief of Baltimore Co., Maryland said "The features aren't cosmetic, they enhance the performance of the weapons...electronic optics allow you to shoot more accurately, from the shoulder, from the hip, it does make it more deadly," I had heard enough. Jon
  6. Just because robot cops get to sleep in doesn't mean the rest of us <COFF> can. Jon

    Sweet!

Leaf! http://truththeory.com/2013/01/29/farmers-begin-planting-hemp-under-new-colorado-hemp-legalization/ Seriously though, the resistance to hemp production (a product that helped found our nation!) is from a few special interests. It is a low-water/arid environment plant. Pests are minimal and pesticides use is low to zero. Farmers can do multiple plantings a year with this hearty plant, versus cotton (1 annual planting) or rapid growth genetically altered trees (years to harvest). The fiber outlasts cotton about 5:1 (you'll hear "hemp wears in, cotton wears out"). Paper yield for an acre of hemp is about 4:1 compared to lumber. Additionally the bask/hull of hemp is water-soluble for paper-making, bypassing the posionous sulphuric acid needed to break down wood pulp (anyone ever smell Berlin, NH when the papermills were going?). The "climate change pushers", i.e. Gore et al, prove themselves to be full of crap when hemp is mentioned. Hemp is God's atmospheric scrubber...it can pull more CO2 (and other greenhouse gases) out of the air we breath, than any "cap and trade" tax politicians come up with (where are all the tree-planting campaigns?). I have a sample of fiberboard made from hemp...the poop is STRONG! Did you know that the word denim is originally from reference to the hemp canvas from de Nimes, France? That is where Levi Strauss got the canvas for tents he was selling to the '49ers, when he realized they needed durable clothes. Research hempseed and hempoil. Fantastic stuff! Diesel originally designed his engine to operate on bio-oils, like hempoil. You can find Chinese diesel engines that will do the same. The ones we use tuned for fuel-oil have some issues with veggie fuels. Sorry...can you tell I'm a hemp proponent? Jon
  8. ^^^^^ <lmao> Jon
  9. Don't! Unless the statute of limitations is up. <laughs> Yup...any aerosol next to a tea-light candle is fun. A .22-250 gets you a fireball. A .22LR gets you a whole 'nother party! Jon
  10. http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/2000-05-16-School-Shootings-Psychotropic-Drugs.htm http://www.ssristories.com/index.php?p=school No shortage of information on links between these drugs and violent encounters. Big Pharma and AMA are going to say "The person was disturbed in the first place, which is why they were on the meds." People who were mildly depressed say otherwise. WARNING- tough poop to watch and listen to: Jon
  11. There's going to be a point when she's a teenager, where a decade of boxing just kicks in with an adrenaline rush. And some poor dude is going to have to leave school for getting his ass kicked by a GIRL!! <thumbsup> Jon
  12. A stock and a grip! Jon
  13. Don't matter JG! Enjoy it! Jon

  16. I've been trying to get participants out to MSC for 2nd Sundays, so we can work on skills. Anyone in AZ, come on out! Jon
  17. I'm going to experiment a bit before I do their rifle. I have some old stuff to play around with and don't care if it is purple or pink. Jon
  18. <thumbsup> Jon
  19. Radios are still a good option, CBs, as many people nowadays aren't even aware of their existence. Certain times, turn them on, get the message out, shut them off. Shortwave is even better. Hundreds or thousands of people can have receiver-only units. Lights/LASERS and Morse code. Don't forget signal mirrors. Semaphore is good too. A message can be left in a certain place in plain sight. The older Boy Scout Handbooks have smoke signals also. Jon
  20. I don't think most gun owners are going to sleep through while teams go door-to-door confiscating guns. The big thing we are lacking now is organizational meetings. When The Shot Heard 'Round The World was fired (Tom has better details), the militia vacated town and watched while the British went around setting the town buildings on fire. One person finally got the militia riled up enough to go down and fight. They are only going to get a few raids in before word starts spreading like wildfire! At that point they may as well hang targets on their heads. And that is without any current organization. Jon
  21. Senator Ted Cruz, of Texas to be exact. http://www.scribd.com/doc/122799297/Letter-from-Senator-Ted-Cruz-to-Chicago-Mayor-Rahm-Emanuel-Bank-of-America-TD-Bank-Group-Smith-Wesson-and-Sturm-Ruger-Co Kick ass! Jon
  22. Do you really need to 400 grit the Parkerized stuff? Jon
  23. CNC or manual? I had a Smithy Granite. And a slew of old books. It would hold to 0.001" if you took your time. Talking with users of cheap Chinese mini machine tools, those will do the same (when talking to a competent machinist). You have to remember your rules for cutting direction and backlash. My HOA was on my ASS about stuff, so I sold it (should have enclosed it). Dude I sold it to for what I had in it, made all his money back with the first job. The smaller CNC mini-mills, like Taig, will do some kick-ass work for you! While it isn't a Haas or Fadal that can hog off 1/2" passes in aluminum and changes tools automatically, it is certainly faster than manual. Jon
  24. In Pappy Boyington's book, he was commenting about going to some island and there were like 3,500 soldiers standing in a line that extended hundreds of yards. He asked what was up and was told there were THREE prostitutes taking like $10 a pop. Eewwww!! Jon
