  1. Know why .22LR ammo is disappearing? Because it was mentioned in passing that .22LR ammo should be attached to any gun ban or ammo restrictions. Ammo manufacturers usually produce in batches. The more popular rounds get longer production runs, the less popular ones can get left by the wayside. Last time around the ammo that was on the shelves the longest, once gone, took the longest to reappear. And when it did it wasn't pretty. Factory .25-20 went from $32/50 rounds to $65/50 rounds. A couple of boxes of .405 Winchester that was on the shelves at Sportsman's since 2005 finally disappeared and has yet to rematerialize. Jon
  2. That is great! Our current sheriff will never never ever be on there. Jon
  3. This was a cool read! http://badassoftheweek.com/churchill.html I may have to subscribe to this for more interesting people. JOn
  4. One thing I do not like about the Crimson Trace...when I have my finger off the trigger (as it should be) and along the frame, it blocks the laser and makes a big ol' honkin' red glow out of my hand against the firearm. While a person may be in their rights to dot someone and blast away under the law, positively identifying your adversary is nearly impossible in the dark with a laser. I recommend bright-and-blinding white lights for positive target ID. We had a guy here last year blast his fiance' away in the dark...swore she was in bed next to him. Jon
  5. He mentions that is how intelligence is gathered...a piece of info here, a piece of info there, connect the dots. Jon
  6. Beautiful day, storm rolled in while I was at the range doing drills with friends! Even better I didn't clean my truck, 'cause now there's fresh mud on the floor boards. <thumbsup> Just got home, dried and oiled up Grape Ape (.45 Colt levergun). Decided it is going to get some purple when it gets here. Jon
  7. Three schools of thought. Tumble before you resize/deprime, as the tumbling media has a tendency to get stuck in the flash hole. This means if your primer pockets are especially dirty, you will need to brush out the pockets to ensure proper seating and ignition. Tumble after you resize/deprime to get the primer pockets clean as well. As mentioned above, you may get a chunk of cleaning media stuck in the flash hole. Each piece of brass must be inspected to ensure that the hole is clear. Proponents of stainless steel tumbling media use this as one reason to buy the pricey stuff. Ultrasonic cleaners (what I'm using now) clean the whole brass, inside and out, WAY cleaner than I've seen standard tumbling media get it. Resize/deprime prior to using these. An issue is that most US cleaners are too small for the amount of brass I like to tumble. After looking at all the jewelers and firearms marketed US cleaners, I got the Hornady Magnum version. Then one day on Amazon, I found HUGE US cleaners, that would hold probably thousands of rounds of handgun brass and nearly any disassembled firearm we own. The price wasn't too much higher, considering the increase in capacity and capability. Hope this helps! Jon

  13. Those .300 Win Mags hold twice as much powder as a .30-30 does. I don't need another caliber...I don't need another caliber...I don't need another caliber... Jon
  14. I was going to say AR-18/180. But that rear sight is odd. Look at the buttstock attachment screws. Jon
  15. There was a case out of NYC. NYPD sent like 30 officers (many of them SWAT) to arrest a person. He shot and killed quite a few IIRC. His lawyer was that tall skinny dude with a skullet. Got off on if it was just an arrest warrant, why did they need 30 cops? Every single one, 100% of the Branch Davidians charged with the murder of federal agents in Waco was acquitted of murder/homicide charges. A couple of weapon charges stood against 2 if IRC. 100% won their lawsuits against the feds for excessive use of force/abuse under badge of color. I'd hate to be in that situation but it is good to know that someone may be on my side and see it my way. If I survive. Jon
  16. Yup. That'll do it. Might have been real fun on an 1100. Jon

  22. That's still orginally broadcast on December 15. Someone elsewhere said there has already been a FOIA request for the coroner's report. Thursday is Feinstain's official release of her gun ban wishlist. That's tomorrow. Jon
  23. I don't know how the twits can look at their recent history and think that politically correct gun-ostracizing can benefit anyone, other than criminals and muslim youth. Jon
  24. On another forum a guy said "Nothing a 12 gauge and some #4 shot wouldn't cure!" Someone replied "That would destroy the memory card. I want the last images on there of me mooning the camera." Another "Me pissing on it. With one of these in my mouth (picture of a Cheech N Chong joint)!" <lmao> Jon
  25. I have no control over it. Snow hog! <laughs> Jon
