MikedaddyH, cost starts at $35/person and I believe that will get you one loaded magazine out of a Sten MKII or other 9mm subgun. One of the regular donors supplies both Class 3 and Class 2 weapons. They have everything from 7.65mm Skorpions up to belt-fed Eastern block goodies. Last one I attended also had a MaDeuce at $10/round...and people were shooting LARGE portions of belt on that! Breakfast burritos will be provided, t-shirts, hats, raffles, and meet your next Sheriff (if you live in Pima County). What else? Jon

Just found out that Pima County Sheriff candidate is holding a fundraiser Machine Gun Shoot on July 4th!! This will be held at Marana Shooting Club 11900 N. Sanders Road, west of I-10 and Avra Valley Road. I believe the shoot starts at 0800. They would like folks to RSVP...so let me know if you can make it! Jon

You guys and this OCW... who you working for that you want to shoot LESS ammo? <laughs> Incremental is fun! Jon

I personally use steel and brass and have no issues. My friend shoots LOTS of steel case through his M&P15 with no issues. Steel comes in lots of different grades suitable for everything from rebar to armor plate, just as brass comes in different alloys. For ammunition cases, they use the more pliable alloys of either. The girl's BWK-47 in .223 puts a massive dent in brass and steel cases. Jon

Good stuff, Seasprite! I have a pack of this ammo too. Got it SUUUUper cheap at AIM Surplus on sale. Jon

Wasn't it Winchester Black Talons? Now the Ranger SXT or such? Jon

I teach people to LIVE! If not by avoiding through awareness, then by ventilation of the threat through various means at their immediate disposal. Jon

That big cross-border fire is down there by Tom. You been shooting tracers Tom? <lmao> Jon

Thanks shepp! Don't forget to arrest the survivors and break out the iron goodies from medieval times to show them what real torture is too! Jon

I also shot some Accelerators in my .30-30 way back when. Something like 3,750fps...it was instantaneous gratification! Squeeze the trigger on a 2-liter bottle of water at 150-200 yards and the very INSTANT your brain realizes that the hammer released, the bottle is exploding in a cloud of mist, followed by recoil. The .30-06 Accelerator is somewhere north of 4,000fps. Jon

I would...but some people may get offended! :o Jon
-
A stupid one. Too offensive? How about immoral? Unethical? Intentionally ignorant? Intentionally abusive? Watch the documentaries on Waco. The agent getting shot on the roof was the LAST person of the entry team to climb the ladder...rest of the team enters the window, he starts shooting INTO THE WINDOW blindly...the shots that came OUT through the wall and window were from his team members protecting themselves from the dumbass in back. Warrantless searches, illegal siezures... Letting criminals take guns to Mexico and trying to FRAME United States Citizens for the crimes, in order to reinstate gun bans! BATF&E agents ARE "enemies domestic"! Remember that! Jon

Screw the asswipes at Olin/Winchester! You need to get a lawyer and start screaming class action lawsuit! Three or four years ago I had a student show up to a Basic Pistol Shooting class with Winchester ammo in the red plastic box. On one magazine she said "Something hit me!" She was shooting a Ruger MKIII Hunter with this ammo. After looking, we found the case head completely detached from the case, the case still stuck in the chamber. Doing a careful examination of the case and case head revealed a nick in the rim. We looked at the remaining ammunition and one other round that was STILL IN THE BOX had a similar nick, same shape and everything. I contacted Olin/Winchester with the lot number and events, offering to send them the fouled up ammo, with no reply. Over these last years more stories are coming out about kaBOOMS with Olin/Winchester .22 Rimfire ammo on several firearms and shooting forums. They don't want to correct their production techniques and continue to damage peoples' nice firearms, possibly inflicting injury, they need to be sued! And boycotted! Jon

Well thanks guys! Shucks! :-[ Now I'm curious...is it Tom or Edge that we're now calling Tia? <laughs> Jon

That thars some funny poop unforgiven! I have a few friends up there Chicago way, one is dating a newly minted cop. They said the place is on LOCKDOWN with NATO big wigs there. Jon

LAR-8 Elite-O. Just Ordered. (Advice: Handguard & Optics?)
planeflyer21 replied to GS455's topic in Rock River Arms LAR-8
Welcome GS455 (from the AWOL dude)! I have an RRA EO and a Operator too. While I haven't shot the EO as much as the standard Operator (the Freedom Machine), the handguard getting hot isn't an issue on either one. Although after SEVERAL magazines in the 20", the receiver gets pretty warm to the touch. Been pretty darn busy the past few months. The last time I took out the EO (Liberty), it was to sight in an EOTech and a MagPul rear MBUS. The triangles are cool but so is a red donut! As an aside, I had to lower the front post on the stock gasblock front sight WAY low, so I no longer get a good cheek weld using the irons (plastics?). Got the MagPul MBUS front to rail mount, hopefully it will square up nicely with the rear now. Oh yeah...100% reliable on both rifles! Jon -
Woohoo! Done with the training program, which has been deemed successful! Compressing an 18-month curriculum into 4-months (3-months was the ambitious goal) was quite the challenge for all involved... We will know if we graduate by June 10. So what's been going on in my absence? Haven't watched t.v. or any real news in 4 months. Do .308s still exist? :o Jon
-
That must explain the odd shuffling noise when I'm in the shower. <laughs> I'll be back semi-fulltime in a couple more months. Jon
-
Greetings Brothers of The Bigger Bangers! I'm about halfway through our intensive training and thought I'd throw in a "Howdy!" Howdy! The pilot program to condense an 18-month licensing program into 3-months looks like it will need a bit over 4 to complete. All in all it looks like success in awesomeness of phenomicity! Hope everyone is well...back to my cave! Jon

Their little 8x3.5x3 boxes ARE my organizing system! Jon

Ssooo...I gather you like waffles? <lmao> Was eating a jellyfish that really caused you to buy impulsively? Jon

Thanks! <thumbsup> Jon

There is a guy on another forum, who goes to the local "high power" matches at his club and uses his Marlin 1894C in .357 Magnum. He consistently does well against the .223 crowd. For those tuning the load to their barrel length with handloading, you should be able to find a more suitable powder for more suitable power out of 16" and still retain more than acceptable performance for long-er distances. Robocop, the last thing I saw on 3-D printers, they were combining essentially a polymer-squishing "hot glue gun" tool head/tip. This was working at VERY high-speed, working off of what looked to be a G-code. The final result for what they were making was intensely strong but not very detailed. I would think a person could squish out what is essentially a polymer forging/casting, do some final machining ops (on plastic, should go quickly) and voila! I'm still waiting for someone to start paying attention to ceramics again. Jon

Much, MUCH better! <thumbsup> "Same thing"! <lmao> <laughs> I nominate that for the "308AR Forum Line of The Year 2012". Jon
