  1. I was speaking more in terms of the protection of our second amendment rights. When it comes to the overall picture, as I said before, this country's economy is going to collapse, I don't see any way around it. The American people aren't willing to do what it would take to get us back on track. The welfare system as it is today needs to be completely eliminated, the political machine needs to be overhauled, and the federal budget needs to be gutted of all the BS spending! It's been band-aid on top of band-aid on a crumbling dam, and the dam is ready to burst. It's coming!
  2. Shepp, I gotta apologize to you, this has been one monumental thread hijack!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <lmao>
  3. My wife came from Cuba, she's already been through this once and the only argument I get from her is why am I not buying more ammo and reloading supplies!
  4. That's a classic Jeff! <thumbsup>
  5. Romney and a republican controlled house and senate is our only hope for the next 4 years. After that who knows. I truly believe that sooner or later this country is going to collapse like a house of cards because the people of this country are not willing to commit to the belt tightening that would be necessary to get us back on track. All we can do is prolong it and prepare for it!
  6. Well put Rene! <thumbsup> BTW, even with differing opinions I would still stand with anyone on this board if the flag goes up!
  7. I agree with you 100% on Holder and the DOJ, the point I was trying to make is that NOPD is the only department being held up as an example for this situation and they had serious internal problems beforehand. Their actions after Katrina brought a lot of issues to light. As far as I know, not one other law enforcement agency below the federal level has pulled the stuff NOPD pulled. It is just another thing that gave law enforcement a black eye and people who don't bother to research what they're spouting use it to cast a bad light on all LEO's! Every cop knows what the Constitution says, and there again you take the actions of a certain few cops and the use it to generalize the whole profession! I guess we will have to agree to disagree and just leave it at that.
  8. The best thing we can do right now is talk to friends & family about their vote and hopefully we can remove this clown from office!
  9. I'm retired and I said throughout my whole career that if I was ever ordered to disarm law abiding citizens in violation of the 2nd. Amendment then I would turn in my badge. As far as NOPD goes, why is it that they keep being brought up whenever this comes up, but no other department is ever scrutinized for the same thing? Could it be that maybe it was an isolated incident and maybe that department is so corrupt and mismanaged that they are now in the process of being overseen by the DOJ? http://www.policeone.com/patrol-issues/articles/5845549-Huge-reforms-required-for-New-Orleans-police/ Their actions after Katrina brought a lot of problems to light that had been there for some time, and if you insist on using them for the standard by which you judge all law enforcement in this country then I can see where you get your views. I'm not going to argue the point anymore, I know where most of my brothers stand on this issue.
  10. Quote from JeffryC; The cops in New Orleans most certainly did. As did National Guard troops from several states. The sad unfortunate truth is that cops and soldiers are like every one else in the US, most of them do not know what the Constitution says. They will follow orders assuming that their leaders would not give them illegal orders. The NOPD is so corrupt they are now being targeted for reforms by the Justice Dept. because of the crap they pulled after Katrina; http://www.policeone.com/patrol-issues/articles/5845549-Huge-reforms-required-for-New-Orleans-police/ That whole system is as rotten as Chicago's politics! I stand by my statement that it won't be cops confiscating guns. As for the Natl. Guard, I made no statements about their position on this matter and can only assume you threw that in there to give more weight to your post! BTW, the U.S. Constitution is thoroughly covered in every police academy in the country as far as I know. LEO's are probably better educated about the Constitution than most U.S. citizens are! You need to get your facts straight!
  11. You got it Tom, but I probably won't wait for a mechanical problem to take a trip over there. <thumbsup>
  12. I believe you are sadly mistaken on this point brother. Are you a cop? Have you bothered to question any cops about their views on armed law abiding citizens? The cops will NOT be the ones kicking in doors and confiscating guns. Most cops are pro 2nd Amendment and will stand down if ordered to do such a thing. Don't believe me? Go read the responses to the article on Bloomberg at policeone.com (at last count there was 244 of them and all saying basically the same thing) and then come back here and tell me if you still believe that statement! Here's the link; http://www.policeone.com/patrol-issues/articles/5846523-Bloomberg-urges-police-strike-over-gun-control/ Every cop takes an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution when he gets his badge, and the majority of us take that oath very seriously my friend.
  13. Wow, talk about a poop storm! Check out the comments to Bloomberg's BS over at policeone.com; http://www.policeone.com/patrol-issues/articles/5846523-Bloomberg-urges-police-strike-over-gun-control/ 224 cops responses so far (you have to be an active or retired LEO to register on the site and post responses) and every one anti strike and pro 2nd amendment except for one who is a Canadian cop! Did I call that or what? I've said it before and I'll say it again, if someone comes kicking in your door to confiscate your guns, it won't be the cops.
  14. Tom, that's a pretty fair sized Harley shop too! I was an automotive dealership mechanic for 5 years way back when and have always built my own muscle cars, so I do my own work on my Harley. The $75 an hour the dealer charges is a bit steep in my opinion, and after my 1000 mile service 3 weeks after I bought the Ultra it hasn't been back in the dealer (well, except for that little crash ::) ). Sorry to hear about your bike Rene, that just sucks! >:(
  15. Okay, my bad! <thumbsup>
  16. Uhhh.....Bloomberg is the mayor of New York City, definitely not from the UK!
  17. That douche bag is so out of touch with reality it's almost pathetic! If you go on policeone.com and read some of the comments there you'll find that Bloomberg is considered a clown in the law enforcement community and that a HUGE majority of LEO's are pro 2nd Amendment! Police go on strike for more gun control? <lmao>
  18. That's correct, and we're the only country in the world that does that! WTF!!! >:(
  19. Time to throw some more fuel on the fire. My son is going into the Marines in October and since enlisting several months ago he has been to a couple of exercises to get him ready for bootcamp. Last Saturday he went to Las Cruces for an exercise and my wife informed me that it was for some type of riot control training, and that he was told not to discuss it with anyone! My wife is an RN/Director at the local hospital and is the hospital rep. in the local emergency preparedness group. They have done several scenarios in the past involving hazmat (we have Interstate, railroad & pipeline running through town all within about 200 yards of each other), traffic accidents (interstate again) and shootings. She said they are having a scenario this Thursday involving a riot with high casualties and she wondered if it was tying in with the Marine thing. She said they have never had any scenarios with anything pertaining to riots and thought it was odd due to the small population in our area! Now, you can take this info for what it's worth, but with all the crap going on now and especially the Canadian news article about a DHS agent's claims of Obama's intention to induce riots around the country in order to postpone or do away with the elections, it does make me go hmmmm............!
  20. Weaponizer, I see you have an old Lyman turret press. That is the press I started out with when I started reloading, and I still have mine. Other than mine, I haven't seen one of those in years! I would hate to try and guess how many times I've cranked that handle up & down. Those things are as tough as an anvil.
  21. Exactly! Every LEO who puts on the badge is my brother or sister, and every American who serves in our armed forces has my utmost respect up to the point when they become a threat to the freedoms this country was founded on. Once they cross that line they are the enemy! That is non-negotiable!
  22. How much you want to bet they will check whoever's name is drawn to make sure they are a registered Democrat! <lmao>
  23. Thanks for the link, I'm going to have to look into that! As for the lead, I'm saving that stuff for a rainy day (or something like that!) <lmao>
  24. Seagiant, I've been shooting reloads in my LR308 with no problems. I'm loading military WCC brass that was most likely fed through a belt fed gun and was somewhat beat up. I'm using Lee dies on a Dillon RL550B and have the sizer die adjusted down to where it just sets against the shellholder at the top of the stroke. The cases are trimmed and deburred the first time they are sized, and I've been loading them with pulled M8 147 gr. FMJBT bullets. So far, I've had no problems whatsoever with function.
  25. This is some scary poop! I don't put a lot of stock in one or two news articles or videos, but it does have me assessing my ability to defend my home and family if some entity should ever try to force their way into my home illegally! If need be, I WILL die a free man!
