Haven't got to do a Beta dump, but I once helped 2 other guys dump a case of 45 ACP through a Thompson M1928 on full auto as fast as we could keep the mags loaded! We were at an armorers class put on by the DoE at Kirtland AFB, and the gun belonged to the DoE. Rock & roll with a Thompson is a blast! <thumbsup>

Rene, stuff like that is hard to diagnose without having the pistol in hand. Clean it and lube it good and see how it does on the next trip to the range and let me know. Usually, slide lock issues are one of two things, either the contour of the tab on the slide lock that catches on the mag follower or the mag follower itself. If the lower barrel lug is fit really snug to the slide lock pin at lockup it might cause issues, but that usually works itself out after a few hundred rounds. If you still have problems make a note of which mags are in the gun and if the same mag does the same thing or if the problem happens with random mags. We will get it sorted out! <thumbsup>

Well, I believe I have fixed my problem. I got one of those replacement extractor springs with the little rubber o-ring and installed it. Went to the range and no more extraction problems! It's my understanding that extractor springs have a life expectancy, and I have no idea how many rounds mine had been subjected to. The gun was used when I acquired it.

The only workaround that I know of is to change out the gas block to one that has a rail that is on the same plain as the receiver rail, and then you would need a front sight that is designed to be used on the handguard. They are shorter than the ones for gas block mounting. THEN the 45 deg. offset adapters would work.

The front gas block rail and receiver rail are at different heights on that rifle. If you put 45 degree sight adapters on it you will run into problems with sight alignment. The lower front rail will cause the front sight to be moved over to the right quite a bit in relation to the rear sight.

I don't really need any help, I'm pretty good at getting pulled over by the cops all on my own! :o Fortunately it's always been someone I know so far, but that's changing. Half the force has changed since I retired! :(

Now I'm jealous! My local track is 20 miles away and I haven't had my Cuda out there in over 2 years! :-[

This stuff is very common with cops. Most generally they dream of a shooting and the bullets come out of the gun very slow and fall to the ground or their shots aren't having any effect on their target. Many times during my career I experienced the nightmare where I was shooting at someone and my shots were having no effect. It's a really shitty way to wake up! I don't believe I ever experienced the slow bullet one though.

<lmao> I can certainly relate to that, those guns were crap! When our department hired a retired NMSP Captain as chief his first act was to buy and issue 4006 Smiths to everyone. I was the dept. firearms instructor and armorer and found that pretty much immediately qualification scores dropped and officers that had no problem qualifying in the past now had problems. We also had malfunction problems and the ergonomics of the gun sucked. The chief was fired 14 months later (for other reasons) and we talked his replacement into getting us HK USP pistols. Everyone's scores went back up, malfunctions pretty much went away and the officers had a lot more confidence in their sidearm. If someone GAVE me a 4006 I would get rid of it!

I've been reloading for over 30 years, most on a Dillon RL550 these days and have to say, Jon pretty much covered it in his response. Excellent advice there! <thumbsup>

Tom is correct, I've been retired for over 10 years now and I still consider myself a LEO. If something went down around me I would react the same as if I had just gone off the clock this morning! It's something that gets into your blood and never leaves, ever!

I use tumbler with corn cob media and NuFinish car polish. Been doing it for years. I used to use the Dillon case polish but switched to the NuFinish after several guys over at brianenos.com recommended it.

I think it depends on the state, but most states that limit mag capacity have a clause exempting LEO's & military.

It has it's privileges! You can also carry concealed, supposedly anywhere in the country. I wouldn't want to take bets on New York or New Jersey though. Kalifornia cops are pretty cool about it though.
