  1. It will definitely function better with a can on it. I would pull the adjustable gas block off and use it for another build than can better utilize the adjustment feature, 300 BO is a somewhat undergassed round to start with (especially with subsonic rounds) and doesn't need an adjustable gas block. I shoot both subs and supersonic with the can on or off with no problems and my gas block is just a generic steel micro gas block I agree with Tom on the gas port, start drilling it out a step at a time until you get reliable functioning with the subs and no can. It should then function just fine with everything.
  2. Mike, have you ever tried doing that? A 308 case won't even seat into a 45 ACP chamber! It runs into the chamber shoulder and stops about one inch short of going in all the way. Not even close to working!
  3. If you like mountains take a hard look at Arizona too! I'm in New Mexico and we have the mountains too, but stay as far away from the Albuquerque/Santa Fe areas as possible!
  4. I got mine about the end of July brother! Built that 6" suppressor and put it on the 8.5" barreled 300 Blackout SBR. That thing is STUPID quiet with subsonic ammo! It's my house gun now, overall length is the same as an AR with a 14" barrel.
  5. I've got one of their 16" 308 barrels that I used in my Matrix Aerospace build. I haven't gotten back out to the range to put it on paper after I wrung the bugs out of the gun and got it functioning okay. I will say this, the chamber in my Anderson barrel is tighter than the chamber in my DPMS LR308B. The reloads I did a while back work fine in the DPMS but gave me fits in my Matrix gun. I switched to factory ammo and the problems went away. The reloads were made with a set of standard set of 308 dies and I've since ordered a 308 small base sizer die and resized the brass that I had already resized with the old die and could definitely feel the new die sizing the brass down more. The tighter chamber in the Anderson barrel COULD result in better groups but I haven't had the chance to find out yet. If you reload make sure you use a small base sizer die, you're a lot better off in the long run.
  6. That right there!
  7. Hat is off to Secretary of Defense Carter for doing the right thing! Now our government needs to do the right thing and erase any debt these soldiers might owe because of this. They stepped up in good faith and nothing less and we, as a country, owe it to them!
  8. Illegal as hell blue! As soon as you pull the trigger on one of those you've committed a felony!
  9. Just so ya'll know, Tom grills a really good burger! Just sayin!
  10. Check this out, great price and it looks like they're made in El Paso! http://rebelsilencers.com/sos-hunter They are aluminum so I kind of have to question their durability, specifically the first baffle, which is subject to the muzzle blast. The modular design does mean that you could rotate baffles when one starts getting a bit of erosion though,
  11. Gotcha!
  12. I built a 6" direct thread suppressor for my 8.5" barreled 300 Blackout SBR and thought I'd post the results here. It's a pretty cool package with what works out to 14" overall on the barrel and suppressor. This one will be staying on the 300 hence the reason for going with direct thread. I built this one with what worked out to about a 1.25" blast chamber baffle, then used a titanium automotive valvespring retainer for the first (blast) baffle with a .5" spacer after that and the rest is all freeze plug baffles. I was pretty impressed with how quiet it was with supersonic ammo, pretty much the same as the 8" suppressor was. I just got my hands on some subsonic ammo the other day and this thing is stupid quiet with that stuff! My oldest son and grandson are down here from Juneau Alaska and we took it out to the range (along with other stuff) and shot it with both types of ammo. When I touched it off with the subsonic stuff I was impressed but handed it to my grandson and told him to shoot it. I wanted to hear it without the recoil spring and buffer next to my ear. Damn thing actually sounded a little quieter than a .22 rifle to me! Now I'm all pumped to get on the Dillon and knock out some subsonic loads!
  13. The damage is already done brother! She shot competition for a couple of years already, just dropped out while going to nursing school.
  14. According to my dealer, who is a 'class III' the only box that is supposed to be checked by the FFL when selling a stripped lower is 'Other Firearm' since it is neither a pistol or a rifle. What kind of 'registration' are you referring too?
  15. My wife is a lefty and recently decided she wanted to get back into shooting USPSA with me when I told her about the new 'Carry Optics' division. She tried a few different pistols and really likes the Smith M&P.
  16. That's correct. If the 26" rule applied to pistols you would need a helluva flash suppressor for your 2" Chiefs Special!
  17. You'll love that rifle! I built mine with a 16" barrel and have absolutely no regrets.
  18. He offered a great deal on some Matrix Aerospace 308 receiver sets to the members on this forum a while back and I just finished a build on one of the two sets I got from him. I LOVE this rifle! Just to let you know what kind of guy he is, he sold out of the blem receiver sets he offered us and when I showed my son (who was in the Marines at the time) my set he wanted to know if he could get a set. I emailed Chris on a Sunday and within an hour he answered me back and had a receiver set for my son. That's a tough act to follow!
  19. Yes, Chris had Central Florida Firearms.
  20. I think it looks ugly as sin, but then that's just me!
  21. Isn't Live Free Armory ran by Chris Riedeman? If so, he is a member of this board and you couldn't pick a better person to deal with. Also, his customer service is outstanding!
  22. I'll have to check with him and see if his wife will let him go! Right now the only gun he has in Tucson is his Kimber 1911 and it's locked up in his father-in-law's safe. They have an apartment and not much room so his safe and all the rest of his guns are here in New Mexico. He's really paranoid about someone breaking into that apartment. (Or maybe his wife told him "no guns in the house!")
  23. Not the same brother, just not the same. Besides, I've always wanted to see if Matt really looks like Steve Carell!
  24. GAWDDAMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to be in Miami for the holidays!
