  1. It's not a big deal Ron, I was ordering some other stuff from Midway and saw the DPMS spring was in stock so I added it to the order. I've been taking my time on this build so I wasn't in any rush. Heck, the trigger group in it right now is the Mech Armor one from my LR308. Besides, all this extraneous schit I get and change out down the road goes into the bag with Josh's Matrix set. Let him deal with it! Bwaahahaha!!!
  2. Yeah, you paid the piper on that one but it was worth it in the long run!
  3. I bought a brand new 4" blued Python for $350 back in 1980 when I joined the local PD. I ordered it from a dealer in Shotgun News and my Lt. took delivery of it and did the transfer. He had a small firearms business that he ran out of his home. I let it get away from me several years later and a local farmer who's a gun nut ended up with it. He knows it was my duty weapon but won't turn loose of it. Now I probably couldn't afford to pay what it's worth anyway, he knows what they are selling for. I do have a 6" blued Python in the gun safe though, sitting right next to a 6" stainless Anaconda!
  4. Yeah, you're going to fit in just fine here! ROFL!!!
  5. ROFL!!!!
  6. 05titanle, it sounds like these guys are throwing a lot of questions at you but this is stuff that can really have an effect on the operation of the gun. Bear with them and they WILL help you get to the source of the problem! Welcome from New Mexico!
  7. Dude, that post is over 3 years old and this thread hasn't even been active in almost 3 years, not to mention the poster hasn't been on this board since it changed servers quite some time back. Your chance of getting a response is a huge zero!
  8. I agree!
  9. That's a great deal! There's a lot of other things that could cause ejection problems other than the barrel. Let us know how it works for you.
  10. A few jacketed rounds down the pipe and any burrs will be gone.
  11. I used an H3 buffer in my build. The heavy buffer for a 308 carbine at heavybuffers.com is listed at 5.5 oz. and their extra heavy buffer is 6.5 oz. priced at $100 and $125 respectively. The H3 is rated at 5.4 oz. and can be picked up for around $40. I just couldn't see paying the extra bucks for the tungsten buffer! I've got a DPMS carbine buffer spring in mine right now because DSG Arms was out of stock on the Armalite 308 spring (it's listed for use in both rifle and carbine). Now that they are back in stock I'll be changing the DPMS spring for the Armalite one.
  12. That's going to be a great looking rifle when it's done. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished piece!
  13. The one drawback to a lighter build in 308 is the heavier recoil. I haven't weighed either rifle, but my Matrix build is quite a bit lighter than my LR308 and I can sure tell the difference in the recoil! I put an adjustable gas block on the Matrix but haven't had a chance to tune it yet. I'm hoping that getting the gas block set will help tame some of the recoil.
  14. No, San Antonio is a bit too far away. Dammit!
  15. Yup! Mike never does anything halfassed!
  16. Or you could put one of these in it; http://www.midwayusa.com/product/198053/schuster-forward-assist-plug-delrin-ar-15
  17. Rene, you're going to be at Ft. Bliss in April? If so, we need to make plans brother!
  18. Take pics during the machining process brother! We all want to see!
  19. Can't say as I blame him, your work is amazing!
  20. Skip the blue Loctite, you use heat to get the different grades of Loctite to release so you're kind of spinning your wheels using Loctite. As Malig8r said, Rocksett is the compound most used to lock muzzle devices. It is ceramic based and sets up harder with heat, just the ticket for muzzle devices. To get it loose you just soak it in water overnight!
  21. Here you go MM; http://www.andersonrifles.com/product-category/barrels/ I used an Anderson 16" barrel in my Matrix build. So far all I've done is put 80 reload rounds through it for break-in and haven't put it on paper yet so I can't say how accurate the barrel is.
  22. We've seen this before. The quick fix is to stack however many quarters in the bottom of your buffer tube it takes to keep the bolt carrier from making contact with the receiver. Problem solved!
  23. Nice rifle! Welcome from New Mexico!
  24. Lots of them in the $20-$30 range at Amazon, just do a search for '45 degree iron sights'. You will have to mount the front sight on the handguard rail if the gas block rail is lower than the one on the receiver. If they are off very much in height difference you'll probably run out of adjustment before you get them zeroed. Dueck Defense has the best ones but they will set you back about $200! I'm not that anal and use mine on my 3 gun AR for close in shots so I went with the Amazon stuff and they work just fine for me. Nice looking rifle!
