  1. Decided to swap around some gas blocks so I have been removing and replacing several of my AAC 51T muzzle devices. I time them with shims, even the plain flash hiders because I'm anal about it, no other good reason to do it, or so I thought. When I took the flash hider of my X-Caliber barrel I realized it had been torqued down on the muzzle crown and not the shoulder and shims like I had thought, not sure how I missed that but I did. No worry about damaging the crown as it is recessed but the alignment of the suppressor had been borderline when checked with a gauge. I also noticed the carbon build up was very uneven with one side of the muzzle buried and the other almost clean. Used a more substantial shim and confirmed I am on the shoulder and not the crown now. The alignment gauge is very close to dead center on the can now, a big improvement. I found it strange the crown was off while the shoulder was good, must have been a different operation in the production of the barrel. Hope I get a chance to check accuracy and POI shift this trip home, I will report back when I do whenever it happens. Curious what others experiences are with torquing muzzle devices, how much, against the shoulder or crown, and have you seen changes with torque values or seating location on accuracy and suppressor alignment?
  2. Just gotta keep them face down in the pillow then slide out the door before the lights get turned on.
  3. One of the many reasons I want nothing to do with deserts. "Sandstorm" my arse, fuk'n rocks will fly through the air!
  4. Do some research before buying the RRA triggers, not long ago there were lots of reports on them going to crap really fast. Fast being relative to how much you shoot.
  5. Gas tube is a perfect fit, dead center of the cutout. Just ordered the Aero 9 inch rail, hopefully the tube makes it past. Had bought a cheap rail local but the barrel nut blocked the tube from passing into the upper, had a spare nut from a MI rail and the tube just barely made it in, as long as the Aero nut doesn’t have any more meat than it I will be good. Next trip home I will start a build thread, CDNN still has a pile of those 12.5 inch barrels, with the SB3 “brace” you can make a nice 308 pistol about as close to a SBR as a guy can get.
  6. Polygamy Nitro Porter from Wasatch Brewery in....wait for it......... Utah! Smooth, sweet, creamy, chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. A hint of that roasted flavor but that seems to just add a dark chocolate flavor, did I mention the chocolate flavor? This is an outstanding porter, watch out cause it goes down quick!
  7. Bad idea to use it, nice to have just because it scares snowflakes.
  8. Never cared much what people call things, don't even care what they call me. Getting bent up over Christmas/ happy Holidays never made sense to me. I just assume a person or company holds certain viewpoints by what word they use and spend my money accordingly. Never imagined the 4th of July or Independence Day to be a big deal at all, thought it had more to do with ad space for the companies than anything else. What I don't care for is word police. Liberty First!
  9. PSA always makes me happy.
  10. Haze, another of the Tree House IPA's, this one is a double and I can tell! This might be the most complex of the three I have tried, has about every flavor I can think of in an IPA but none of them are overbearing, just transitions from one to another. A bit spicy bitterness but at the same time there is some sweetness and a light hint of fruit, has a fruity/citrusy aroma. These guys know how to brew a tasty beer!
  11. Surprised I don't get hassled more. I always wear something 2A or gun related for a shirt and have never been singled out. Now I always get a localized pat down due to the metal buckles on my overalls but never pulled out of line.
  12. These guys are fast! ordered at about 1000. Got a call to confirm the order about 1330, very good customer service, he went over exactly how I got the measurements and what I was building so he would be on the same page. At 1545 I got the tracking number! I may just get to mock this thing up before heading back to work.
  13. Gas tube ordered, went with 11 inches after a little more precise measurement. $35 from White Oak Armament, expensive for a tube but with the price of the barrel being so cheap I am still ahead, as long as this works!
  14. That magic number from the Houston warehouse testing ? Find it surprising that manufacturers don’t offer that length since it is fairly well known information.
  15. Teach'em all to suture themselves My favorite med lesson in RIP!
  16. The local store was out of Sir Mocha Lot today so I'm scanning the shelves in the Iowa brews section and see Pseudo Sue from Toppling Goliath brewing in Dechora Iowa, knowing @ shepp is a fan I sprung for a 4 pack. The master is correct, fantastic beer, much like those Tree House IPA's. A bit of a fruity note but not a fruity beer, a great hop flavor but not the dank one just a citrusy taste, super smooth and super refreshing. Pricey but now I can have something very similar to those great New England IPA's on a regular basis. Thank you @shepp!
  17. Much appreciated Brother! The printer is spitting out a stack of 50 as I type! I really like this for a zero. 55 grain is my normal go to round so it will be perfect for several of my rifles. I need to do the math on the app and see what the best zero will be for some of my other rifle/ammo combos.
  18. Missed that, hope you didn't feel to rough anyway.
  19. Pissing me off, can't get that target to print from a jpeg, anyone sees a 36 yard zero target in PDF please post up!
  20. Happy belated birthday! Hope you don't hurt too bad when you wake up and read this
  21. Keep me posted!
  22. You could see them getting sued in a negligent discharge scenario, mag was only supposed to hold 10, counted ten and thought it was empty. No real excuse if someone does get shot but lawyers can convince 12 sheeple that it wasn't the man with the booger hooks fault any day of the week.
  23. Be nice if the ammo choices would increase as well. No reason 260 FGMM should sell for anymore than it's big cousin. With thousands of once fired 308 cases stashed I can see myself reloading it once my work life slows a bit. @98Z5V Are the LaRue OBR barrels plug and play with the DPMS platforms?
  24. Hurricane, and Alter Ego from Tree House Brewing in Monson Mass. are two great beers. A nice citrusy hop flavor with just a hint of sweetness. Alter Ego has a bit stronger hop flavor, a bit of that green weed taste, but both are similar in their complexity and full bodied flavors. The fruitiness is subdued in the flavor but prominent in the aroma, not fruity beer but a beer with just a hint of fruit. Goes down smooth and leaves you wanting more. Thanks to a new England Brother for turning me on to these IPA's, I have not been an IPA fan but these have converted me, got one more to try, Haze. I will be watching for Tree House on the shelves for sure!
