  1. @98Z5V I used the center of the cam pin cut out in the upper to determine the 10 7/8 inch length, that should get me what I want won't it? Would I be better fudging a little to the short side then opening up the port if I need more gas? I don't want to custom order a tube only to have the tube bottom out in the carrier key.
  2. I was just looking at their gas tube page thinking someone has to be custom making some of the lengths they sell, they will get a call Monday. Hope they can help, too nice and too cheap a barrel to give up on. The shoulder at the gas block is way off but the dimple jig makes gas block alignment foolproof. If they can make it I may have them make a few and then grab more of those $79.99 Sig barrels.
  3. So I'm trying to build a pistol with a Sig P716 12.5 inch barrel. My measurements from the gas port tell me I need a 10 7/8 inch long gas tube to make this work and I have not seen anything close except a reference to an Armalite super SASS carbine length tube at 11 inches. I'm afraid the 11 3/4 inch for a mid-length will be too much. If anyone has a source for something close to this odd length tube please let me know. Push comes to shove I'll just have a spare barrel for my 716. On a side note the port in this barrel is .071, might help explain why my 716 has symptoms of being under gassed.
  4. Function check on the Sig bolt complete. Headspaced fine on my X-Caliber barrel. Put the bolt in a D. Wilson carrier and shot 10 rounds in my Matrix build without issue. It appears these bolts are DPMS pattern. Now to sort out how to convert that Sig barrel CDNN has to DI function, it will happen when I figure out the gas tube length.
  5. Redwing composite King Toe, best safety toe boots I have ever walked in. You won't even know they are safety toes, skip the styles with the new metatarsal guard, they will rub you raw!
  6. If you live in a communist state possession of an eleven round magazine could lead to butt rape in prison where they don’t use condoms , a serious safety issue !
  7. Bet it feels good climbing those ladders!
  8. I trapped a 60 pounder and thought that was a monster, 100+ pounds is a beast!

    uncle Ted

But will he show up? He attended exactly ZERO meetings while an NRA board member, disappointing since his views on issues would have greatly benefited the organization. Attendance data; https://www.google.com/amp/www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2017/11/luis-valdes/nra-membership-petition-to-reform-the-board-of-directors/amp/
  10. Depressing that some lunatic is allowed to backseat the testimony in Congress of an obstructionist douche bag. People dying is a tragedy but what the establishment is attempting to cover up is even more sinister.
  11. Just dropped another hundred there myself.......
  12. Looking forward to seeing how the accuracy is from that barrel. Nice looking build!
  13. Thank you sir, thought that Vltor may be the same but the descriptions made me hesitate. Just got my discount for Aero so now I can get all the major components ordered, just have to decide on a color now, if not black then maybe gray.
  14. I can't seem to find anyone that has these in stock, I have a spring and can substitute any H3 buffer or even make one with some tungsten weights but need the AR-10 carbine buffer tube. Armalite just doesn't seem to be able to get parts in stock on their site and everywhere else seems sold out.
  15. And in other Beachin Tactical news;
  16. HOPPYUM by Foothills brewing in Winston-Salem NC. Now this is dank, a strong but pleasant weed flavor for sure, bitter but it doesn't hang there long. A really complex flavor that keeps changing from front to back, the dank, a little malty, a little sweet but leaves with a clean hint of citrus. I will get more of this one for sure.

    Bacon

My hometown is said to smoke more bacon than any other single location in the world. The Smithfield Farms Farmland plant there was killing 14,000 hogs a day, that's 28,000 bellies to smoke! There is another plant there that does nothing but bacon, no idea what their production or brands is. The address on the package could be from about anywhere but a very large amount of what you see on the shelf is actually processed in Denison, Iowa. https://www.smithfieldfoods.com/our-brands
  18. Welcome from Iowa, via North Carolina!
  19. Use one of these and you can go as short as you want on the barrel without the paperwork and still use a standard carbine buffer tube. https://www.sb-tactical.com/product/sba3/ I have a 12.5 inch build in the works with one of these right now. My Sig P716 has a 12.5 inch barrel but the piston system makes it a bit of a pig for such a short weapon. I like the MK 319 mod 0 ammo for the short stuff, designed specifically for short barrels. I haven't shot the 716 much past 250 yards or so but it does just fine and could most likely stretch out a bit more without a problem.
  20. None taken, we enjoy being the little guy or rather the elite system There are different Matrix versions just like Armalite versions. My first Matrix has the Armalite thread pattern, second is DPMS. They look like Armalite pattern with the angled cut on the receivers but do not mate up. With no real standard for large frame AR's it can be a crap shoot for some parts but most interchange, different doesn't always mean it won't work.
  21. Can they be made in different weights?
  22. Can you do both large and small frame versions? I may just take you up on that come late summer/early fall when I will be around home a bit.
  23. If I hear of some of those carrier weights becoming available I might drop it in the mail so the shipping can be cost averaged a bit, suckers are heavy!
  24. Two DPMS AR-15 uppers pretty much ruined my AR-15 lapping tool they needed so much off. These tools are an expendable thing unless you get a machinist to reface them after wearing a groove and they would most likely charge as much or more than a new tool.
