I might just take you up on that Brother! Gotta make sure it shoots decent first, don't want to waste time on a dud. Who knows when I will get back to it but I'll give you a heads up for sure.

Finished mocking up a build with A-TACS AU receivers and furniture. Dust cover won't stay closed so I have a Strike Industries FDE cover on order since they are adjustable, should match better than black anyway. This is my first build dealing with a delta ring, turns out none of my barrel nut wrenches will work so I am waiting on a magpul armorer's wrench so I can finish it off. D Wilson BCG, LaRue MBT trigger, 1-7 twist 16 inch barrel from JSE surplus, Magpul furniture, and DPMS receivers. Undecided on optics, red dot or one of my Bushnell 1-6.5's. Gotta see what Brother Jacob can do for a matching sling as well.

This old war horse hit 100 this spring, barrel has a 3-18 date on it. I've only shot 20 rounds through it but it held 2 MOA at 100 yards, bore is nice and shiny. This one escaped being refurbished and sits like it did when it came home from WWI, as the story is told. Finish is worn all around and the stock has enough wear to obscure any stamps except the odd W in a protected location. Always felt the P17 got shorted in the fame department due to the '03 being an American design, fact is more of our boys used these P-17's than any other rifle. I bought it from an old man that said his father brought it back with him. It was used during the depression to put venison on the table then put in a corner of a closet till it was sold to me. The dust was thick but it had been oiled well when put away so it cleaned up just fine for my taste. If only the old war horse could talk......

Could be because their FDE just wasn't FDE. No match with anyone elses FDE, not even close! MI handguard, KAK "brace", BCM grip, and Magpul FDE cerakote receivers. The darker stuff is a custom black and burnt bronze Cerakote.

I do the shoot and clean break in, not because I have seen it make a difference but because many barrel makers recommend it.

It is like a virus, everyone that shoots mine ends up getting one. This leads to stamp collecting as well so it can end up an expensive experience

Careful with that, I am not an expert but recall researching the topic and found three acceptable methods, pin and weld, high temperature silver solder, and full seam electric or gas welding. Not sure what the ATF definition of full seam is but I would feel more comfortable pinning it.

Recently built with a Criterion bought from Fulton Armory with their high pressure bolt and carrier, it was a dead ringer for the JP BCG. It was a very good shooting rig

$99 DPMS AR15 STRIPPED UPPER/LOWER CAMO SET
jtallen83 replied to jtallen83's topic in Sales and Coupons
Picked up the two sets I ordered today. Blemishes are not real bad, upper and lowers match real well. Gotta give the deal a no go though, the ATACS finish bubbles up when the brake cleaner hits it so one set will end up Cerakoted something else. I found this out during my usual upper receiver lapping, I use brake cleaner to clean up the super sticky lapping compound. Both uppers were WAY off from square. It took forever to get them even, at least ten times the effort before they finally squared up. I now have grooves worn in my lapping tool, hoping I can figure out a way to flatten it up again or I'll have to buy a new one. -
Does anyone besides KAC make a correct M110 barrel??
jtallen83 replied to jdkno's topic in .308AR Parts
Never is a long time so maybe. If I did there would have to be lots of conversation and assurances, as well as a good price. I bought when they were first getting into AR barrels, price was a good 1/3 less than they are now. I will add that the chamber and the bore had the nicest mirror finish I have ever seen. -

There is a thread here somewhere, either under my Matrix build or search x-caliber. It was a 16 inch rifle gas barrel, came with the gas port way undersized . Had to drill it out a little at a time to get it to function. The x caliber rep came on here and spouted some real bullschit excuses that got him heckled off the board. Too bad they could have saved a ton on R&R by listening to the gurus here! -

Mine shoots fine now, had gas port issues to start though. -
Add some fiberglass cloth for reinforcing, that will help stop the flexing.

What do you have on order or in the mail? Part 2

Good God man, you make that full size combat pistol look like a colt mustang! I bet you have a hard time finding gloves that fit. -

http://pacifictoolandgauge.com/ar-tools/10318-ar-15-upper-receiver-lapping-tool.html A very well made tool! They have them for both platforms.

Bullchit, two pounds is two pounds. In the best shape of my life I can tell you every pound was felt and every effort was made to loose that pound if possible. Recoil is a moot point on a hunting rifle, you aren't going to shoot enough for it to matter.

It's always the next one.......... Since you lay down all the restrictions guess I'd say go to Fulton Armory and buy everything there, get the Criterion barrel. ...no fantasy........no fun.

I have a plug in the FA hole in my Matrix 308 build, never had an issue. Stupid thing was the plug cost me almost as much as a FA!
