  1. 5.56 model is sold, 7.62 is still available.
  2. Now that I'm changing out my muzzle devices for AAC 51T 's I will not be needing these, never got around to installing them. Bought them on a blem sale from SLR but don't see any blems. I have one on a 308 matrix build and think it works well. There is a video of one in action in this thread; https://forum.308ar.com/topic/11730-az-end-of-summer-shoot/?page=1 i'm asking $23 each or $43 for the two, shipped in the US, paypal, check, or cash. Both the 5.56 and the 308 come with new crush washers, the SLR stickers are gone.
  3. Ounce for ounce, inch for inch forged is a touch stronger but billet can be machined to be stronger by leaving thicker material at stress points. Most of it boils down to aesthetics, billet will usually have more artistic lines, integral trigger guards, bigger openings in the magwell, stuff like that. The integral trigger guard is the biggest plus in my book, saves the stress you have worrying about breaking off an ear when installing the roll pin for the trigger guard, doubt it happens very often but always stresses me until the pin is in.
  4. Saw a comparison article in Shotgun News on forged stripped lowers last year. Prices ranged from $70 to over $200. PSA and Anderson were the least expensive and scored at the top for tight tolerances and finish. Unless you need billet or proprietary ambi stuff either of those would serve you well.
  5. Yep, somebody in Illinois was selling the 51T flash hiders as "take offs". They looked new with no signs of ever being installed, came in the package with the tube of rockset. My LGS sells them for $90, the brakes for $110. Looking like SLR will be getting a bunch of my money next for adjustable gas blocks. then I think I may need one of those Geissele alignment rods for peace of mind. This silencer addiction is a pricy one!
  6. Any particular reason you don't want 3 slots? I don't see any 2 slot blocks at Brownells or Primary Arms.
  7. I agree it is very complex but a major step in understanding what is going on is keeping up with the Putin/Russian perspective. I agree, strength is all he will understand, that strength would go a long ways in tamping down the muslim threat as well.
  8. I went to the LGS today and bought an FDE Andersen set after seeing all the out of stock listings on the internet, it's going to be a 300BO after I recover from the silencer shopping spree.
  9. I've been researching this a bunch lately and didn't run across any silencers that mounted to a standard flash hider. I ended up going the AAC SDN-6 route. Several here had nothing but praise for AAC products and I noticed they had great specs for the price. They also have better prices on the needed extras like muzzle devices. I've been picking up new take-offs for 7.62 and 5.56 at $50-$60 on ebay for the last couple months, paid $80 for the 51T brake.
  10. In Iowa we are instructed not to mention you are carrying when pulled over unless the officer specifically asks if you have a weapon. I thought that was a little odd at first but there may be some logic to it. A hard look at factual statistics show that LEO's have reason to be nervous when interacting with young black males. "Training " them to ignore facts is not training but brainwashing. Second guessing them on every hard decision is easy but not helpful to them or the communities they protect.
  11. What a beauty! If only rifles could talk.......
  12. The rapidity of the state governments calling for federal investigations into these incidents sheds light on just how far this country has gone down the road of a national police force. There has been zero evidence showing these as race based shootings, the only way they could be remotely given federal jurisdiction. This country has been fundamentally changed. and he was right!
  13. Looks like a long hot summer for LEO's in the big cities.
  14. Start with some reading here, the basics of building a 308AR and an AR-15 are very similar; https://308ar.com/
  15. Sadly I think they had no choice if they wanted to make sure they saw their kids that night. Reported man with a gun, suspect was non-compliant. If he would have followed the directions given he would be alive right now.
  16. For handloaders the Lancers allow the longest C.O.L. I've seen besides my ArmaLite B mags, even more than the Pmags made for M118LR ammo. Lancer mags will be a permanent fixture on my Christmas wish list!
  17. Ran across this interesting perspective on WWIII from a Russian viewpoint; http://www.unz.com/tsaker/how-russia-is-preparing-for-wwiii/
  18. Watched the Jaws marathon on the 4th, strange how life imitates art........

  19. Welcome from Iowa! Sounds like a really nice collection in a short time, love my Armalites' as well but have really enjoyed the ground up builds I've done with the help of my friends here. It might be a sickness but it's a healthy one!
  20. Dealer told me his contact at ATF said they were worried about fire code violations due to the boxes of forms lining the hallway at their office. Hope they have a plan besides just making us wait! So far my LGS pricing is within $20 of Silencer Shop, nice to be able to support my local but Silencer Shop seems to be setting the prices for the market.
  21. I've been watching inventories shrink fast at the LGS and the Silencer Shop website these last few weeks. Thankfully I'm not noticing any price gouging on what's left, speaks well of those in the business.
  22. Lots of macaroni and cheese with hot dogs for dinner these past few months. I've been waiting a long time for Iowa to decide I could have them then the deadline for the new rules on trusts caused me to do a bunch of buying in a hurry. Might be some time before I can afford a 300BO build but then it doesn't cost to plan.
  23. Saw a 150 round box of this at walmart for $23 so I thought I'd give it a go. No malfunctions or fliers but it is hands down the dirtiest ammo I have ever used. The "Clean-burning powder" left the inside of my MK25 caked with gray, clay like gunk. I'm not sure what comparison they used for the clean burning claim but it is by far the worst I've shot. The " proprietary surface treatment" on the cases leaves your fingers and everything you touch a dark gray. Looks to me like they tumbled the stuff in moly then it went straight in the package. At 16 cents a round it is cheap shooting but I think I'd rather pay a bit more and shoot the Federal aluminium case from walmart or wait for internet sales on good brass cased stuff at 20 cents a round. I'm thinking the little I saved will be spent on extra brake cleaner and hand soap! http://www.winchester.com/Products/handgun-ammunition/Value/usa-forged/Pages/WIN9S.aspx
  24. My LGS is getting it down pat now, 15 minutes in and I was signing the credit card slip for an AAC Ti-rant 45. I decided not to wait for the Illusion-9 to come in stock, looks like the Ti-rant 45 will be a more versatile suppressor anyway. Didn't hurt that the LGS agreed to do the labor on any sight and barrel work I need at no charge ATF charged the $200 on the second SDN-6 last week so things are proceeding on track so far. Got to handle all the suppressors today, watched them shoot a FNX 45 Tactical at the indoor range but the steel bullet traps kind of ruin the experience so I'll wait to shoot mine till I can take them outdoors. Time to start planning a 300 BO build!
  25. Welcome from Iowa!
