  1. I put the enhanced spring in and took the weights out of a buffer. No test fire going to happen in this weather but I tried cycling some rounds by hand. First thing I noticed was a much louder "sproing" noise. It also has issues stripping every third or so round from the magazine. The bullet gets stuck on the feed ramps between lugs, pull back the carrier and let it go and they chamber. I tried it with a regular weight buffer and got the same thing. Put the standard spring and buffer in, same issue but the bullets get set back more often and further than with the enhanced spring. Tried the test with a P-mag, Lancer mag, and a metal mag, all the same results. Looks like I'll need to do a little research on ramp polishing..........I don't own a Dremel.....yet.
  2. A serious enabler friend! Just wish it would figure the shipping cost into the price per round ..............I could spend my money faster that way ;-)
  3. The lock on my Magpul ACS does a great job of making a solid feel. I really like the new Magpul Slim Line stock I put on a 308 build, it uses a couple leaf springs that press against the tube so there is no extra lever or button to push and it is very firm, had to put some lube on the tube so I could adjust it easier. https://www.magpul.com/products/moe-sl-carbine-stock-mil-spec
  4. Here is a link to the manufacturer's site, they sometimes offer free shipping; http://zqiammo.com/ Seems like an odd combination selling IMI and ZQ together since mooselimbs are usually shooting at Jews?????????
  5. I use a very light coat of oil on the extension, that seemed to be the consensus when I did some searches. I use a bit of moly grease on the barrel nut threads, they just need some lube so you don't gall the threads, lots of different opinions on that subject though. Never heard of anyone recommending loctite on either myself.
  6. I'd start with an assortment of bullet weights and brands. Even rifles with consecutive serial numbers can like different loads. No sense stocking up till you know what they like to shoot. For cheap plinking ammo I like the ZQ stuff sold at Walmart, about as cheap as you can get a brass cased M-80 clone load.
  7. Condolences for you and yours Blue, rough way to start the year. Hope they catch the shooter soon.
  8. I have a couple the Viridian I won on a raffle is set up for a rifle and I run a M6X on my MK25. I don't shoot much with the laser but a good light is a must, my 600 lumen Surefire still doesn't seem quite enough. In a pinch the laser could come in handy but the biggest use I have found for it is dry fire practice. My wife has greatly improved her trigger control by watching the laser move around as she pulls the trigger.
  9. Dooooh! ....I'll read twice next time!
  10. Had a similar issue with a matrix build, swapped the extractor spring for an Armalite version and it ran fine. Another member here swapped out his ejection spring to solve a similar issue. What BCG are you using?
  11. I got the rail in the set from Chris. http://www.centralfloridafirearms.com/product/cerakoted-fde-ar15-receiver-set/ I had thought about a shorter rail but for the price of the set figured I could sell the rail if I didn't like it, that's not happening though, I like it! Only downside is now I have to invest in keymod gear for it. Went with the regular SLR adjustable, titanium was too pricey and shiny for my taste, plus I'd hate to compete with breastguy for most anal lightweight parts buyer ;-) Pinned a standard flash hider on the 14.7 inch barrel, the comp I had was just a hair short of the 16 needed, kinda glad I went that way now, trading the minimal recoil reduction away is balanced by the lack of concussion felt. I think I'll yank the buffer weights tonight and hope for a decent day to test fire, range is pretty well snowed in right now.........
  12. Welcome from Iowa!
  13. Yep, that started me thinking. SLR gets it from Taccom3g where I picked up the buffer spring. It appears there would only be a bit over an ounce difference if I just remove the weights from a carbine buffer instead of buying the plastic plugs from Taccom3g. Hope to put something together for the wife and grandkids that shoots real soft and is nice and light. Haven't test fired yet but had them all hold the rifle and operate the controls. Biggest complaint is the balance is nose heavy but I don't see where I can lighten it anymore. I'm hoping a Beachin sling used properly will help them overcome the nose heavy balance issue rather than add weight to the stock. Here is a link for Taccom3g recoil management products; http://www.taccom3g.com/ar15-components.html
  14. I'm sure they can, and have, all read....................BRING BACK TOM! Don't care how you do it just make it happen............
  15. I'll ask Steve if I can check his fridge myself............... Rep. King is a good conservative but being a politician I can't believe anything he says......
  16. If I post from my iphone I can use the emoticons from it, otherwise I have to save them to your computer from an alternate source then "choose file", find them, and add them....way too much hassle.
  17. Can you build one in Jersey? Just had a flash hider pinned by Adco, $36 including shipping. Armalite still sells non-adjustable carbine buttstocks. You wouldn't save much if any money but you would get to pick each part....or should I say select from what Jersey lets you have.
  18. Desktop here..... phone says Dec 15 like yours.
  19. One would think having the ability to firmly grip the weapon would make it safer? I think the real intention may have been to make it so uncomfortable to use that it just sits in the safe.......
  20. Normal date on my end.......
  21. You actually have to keep that abortion of a "grip" on that beautiful receiver set? At least you can still get most of an AR...........
  22. I really miss old banana man and his host of friends. It is way to time consuming to add emoticons from other sources. The emoticons really help with expressing the context of a post. and I miss my Brother Tom! BRING BACK TOM! please?
  23. Amen Brother!
  24. No experience with the DPMS but, WELCOME from Iowa!
  25. If I denounce you then I'm not going to call you brothers and sisters, friends.......just don't feel it from this guy.
