Most of the time checking the gas port diameter would be way down the list but then I read "X-Caliber". The barrel I got from them was way under-gassed so it might be worth checking to see what size they gave you before you do much else. 3rd page of this thread is where my port size issue details start;

Of course I can't find it now but I did recently read about a hybrid 7.62/308 chamber on the lines of a Wylde. I'll keep looking to see where I read about it.........

Great to hear your feeling some energy again, take your time and let everything settle back into place. Ask the Doc for just five minutes alone with the robot;-) After they messed me up I told the Doc if he ever sees me behind the wheel while he is crossing the street he better run cause I'm not stopping........because of all the muscle spasms he left me with of course;-)..........he isn't my Doc anymore.............

So far the polymer hasn't given me any issues but I haven't had one out in any real cold yet. I wish I could get a metal one with the same adjustable detent, it would minimize the wear and insure good functioning.

And that is the crux of the situation, just plain old government overreach!

So far my 16 inch rifle length gas is running even weaker ammo down to 23 degrees. We haven't had anything colder to shoot in yet this year but when we do you can bet I'll be giving it a go. I like to try everything I own at 10 below or colder.

Just chucked it in the mail to Adco. The only local welders I would let touch it didn't want to "work on guns". I broke two bits trying to drill the flash hider so I'd had enough, for $36 shipped Adco does them and I figured they would have a pile of experience compared to anyone I would eventually find around here. I do like the blended washer idea, might hit you up on a future build. Gotta love this forum full of great members!

Couple friends have the M308 and they love it. I'd say you're doing right giving a loaner a try first. Along with the class do a ton of reading and watching reviews, lots of good links floating around the site here. For what you want to do good glass will be just as important as the rifle, many say to spend more on the glass than the rifle!

Don't know anyone with that specific model. Those that have gotten to built in rangefinder scopes always comment about how large and heavy they are. This one seems to be set up with odd ballistics, most 5.56/.223 specific scopes just use standard M855 or M193; "Developed specifically for the trajectory of the .223 Rem 5.56 NATO round with 55-grain polymer tip bullet at approximately 3240 fps" Should be real close to the military spec ammo but seems odd they would use this instead?????? Nikon is usually good chit though.

The enhanced has a slot inside that lets you pull in the pin from there if the hole for the hinge is covered like most billet models, the standard model you have to push the hinge pin in from the outside, if you pop it into one with a closed hinge hole you'll be breaking it to get it off. "Billet and other certain Mil-Spec Upper Receivers have the port door hinge capped off so the original UDC will not be able to be taken off once installed so make sure to get the Enhanced UDC."

I've got two now, one on my Matrix build and just added one to an AR-15. The 308 model was real snug but some light sanding and I have a perfect fit. I had to adjust the detent down on the AR-15 model but it is a perfect fit. So far I really like them. To simply call them "rifles" would be WAY to objective for a yahooooo report, better to throw some red meat for your left wing clientele than just report facts.
