  1. Welcome aboard. Where in AL? I've got too many favorite haunts there to keep track of (Gulf Shores, Auburn, Anniston, Birmingham).
  2. How many rounds through it? I needed ~120 before the bolt would lock back. Break in is important.
  3. Unless you're running steel pins and wet tumbling, a regular vibrator with corn cob or walnut media isn't going to clean the primer pockets.
  4. Why? You're just adding another step.
  5. There are plenty of YouTube videos of people using drill presses with regular HSS bits completing the 80% lowers. Just look them up.
  6. Anyone have an upper and lower 308AR action block set I could borrow? I'm about ready to start another build and I'd like to try using blocks this time.
  7. You are off to a great start. I would have recommended the Dillon BL550 or any other good progressive loader, but that horse is out of the barn. The dimples on the cases come from too much lube on the shoulders, as you've found out. I started out with the RCBS case lube kit, but have switched to the Dillon spray on lube. It's the bees' knees. Put your cases on a cookie sheet, spray a couple squirts on them, roll them around the tray, put them in the sun and let them dry (about 10 minutes). No more dimples. You got the case gauge. Use it. Often. If you need more .308 cases I've found the current batch of USGI 1X fired cases from Widener's to be top notch. All LC12 and in great shape. Cancel the Sinclair trimmer. For trimmers the Little Crow WFT works great. You get a square trim every time and it is fast, fast, fast. Giraud makes a similar one that deburs and chamfers simultaneously for a bit more but I've no experience with that item. Good luck, and be safe.
  8. Might have left it alone after the "happily ever after"...
  9. This looks like a good magic trick. I'd like to know how they did it.
  10. WOW! Talk about girls with guns...
  11. GET A CASE GAUGE!!!
  12. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your prayers and help, but on Aug. 29, my little girl passed away. She had just turned 21 in July. We thought we were getting up on the brain tumor, but it came on with a vengence in late June and there was nothing we could do about it. The outpouring of love and prayers for Kelly was fantastic and the support she and we received from her friends, teammates and family was immeasurable. Without saying a word, she touched the lives of thousands. God Bless You Kelly.
  13. So where do you get that LW barrel? The choice seems to be unanamous. Are they that much better?
  14. Is that because you Armalite guys' lugs are so small... ::)
  15. If you used quality components, don't be too quick to change things out. Mine took ~120 rounds to break in. I also had a loose barrel nut. Once everything was adjusted and broken in, perfect function.
  16. So, will this 16" barrel give you 1MOA? Also the generic "AR10" does it mean Armalite style only, or will it fit a DPMS receiver/bolt system?
  17. I'm thinking in terms of shooting in standing, kneeling and sitting positions. Most people couldn't hold a rifle like these steady enough to use the level's info. From a hide or using a bipod, sure, I guess so. I look at doodads like that and wonder "why"?
  18. I'll amplify this, the coonasses (term of endearment. For those of you easily butt hurt get over it) down here don't have to be hungry to eat anything available. I know oil guys who put crab traps on deep sea diving remotes and bring up the crabs and boil them. These are not "Deadliest Catch" Kings or Opelias. We don't know what the hell these things are, but the guys eat them anyway. :cookoo:
  19. And global warming is Bush's fault.
  20. Frankly, I think it's superfluous. You can't really use it from a non-bench situation, and if you can't tell a rifle is vertical when using a bench rest you need to move on to another activity.
  21. It's a very nice looking piece of equipment, but I still don't get the integrated level. What's that do?
  22. Shootersproshop has .308 168 BTHP available again. $21.95/100 http://www.shootersproshop.com/nosler-products/nosler-blemished-2nds/nosler-blemished-bullets/nosler-30-168gr-custom-competition-hpbt-blem-100ct.html
  23. This is such a crock of crap that it wouldn't even make a bad grade "B" sci fi movie. I don't read the EU Times (actually, I'd never heard of it) but if this is their level of investigative reporting, it's not even good for fish wrap. Oh yeah, and it's Bush's fault.
  24. Welcome. You ever get to G.S.?
