  1. "The Gargoyle" is sticking in my head right now.....
  2. Time stops in that heat. I thought I had it bad at 107 last Saturday.
  3. I nominate a Koi pond. I built one & it was beautiful and had waterfalls and plants. Not too much maintenance with the right filtration & you love the Koi. The waterfalls are very therapeutic sitting there with a cold beer when you want to relax. Sadly I had to move from that property. nice job on the landscaping.... <thumbsup>
  4. <thumbsup> 2650!!!!!! Wow maybe I gotta try that stuff too. How much powder in there to get that with them A-MAX's?
  5. Over here in Kalifornia we get plugged 20 rnd Pmags that only allow 10 rounds loaded. Interestingly I got mine wet up that way from LWRC, and they are stamped "RESTRICTED maximum 10 round capacity".
  6. Mine works perfectly in my LR-308, and so many others too.
  7. I'm using the CAR-10 XH buffer in combination the JP LMOS (low mass operating system) BCG. After I bought the parts I became worried they wouldn't work well together. So far, since I started to shoot the finished AR-308, it's working flawlessly. Hardly any felt recoil at all, it's like being hit in the arm by a down pillow thrown across room. She has been cycling flawlessly. So far this combo works great, my worries have subsided. I will post if any change.
  8. "out by midnight" I assumed they wouldn't last long so I posted this the minute I got email. Hope it helped at least someone.
  9. Just received email from Ranier Arms they are now in stock if you or anyone you know needs one.
  10. The anti's never advertise the statistics of when the gun saves lives and/or solves crime such as in a home intrusion. I wonder why <dontknow> No I don't.
  11. yes UBR and Slash's CAR-10 XH buffer/spring = $370 to me :cookoo: I did not intend to spend so much when i first started project but then i could not control myself. Didn't take long to say :fawkdance: the stash I'm going for it, paid cash for everything. I zeroed the reflex sight over memorial day weekend. I found it is very fun to shoot that way. It works great and is very fast <thumbsup>
  12. Senator Leland Yee Born: November 20, 1948 (age 63), Guangdong Province :o Education: University of California, Berkeley, … Need I say more?
  13. It's a "Blackhawk" mount. I got it and the sight at store called "Sheel's" in Reno. It was $50. The red dot is a "Sight Mark". Not a top shelf sight but it was $89. Looks like the 200-300 dollar ones, I hope it's holds up as well <dontknow> The mount I was hoping it would fit under the scope mount up forward but it won't, so I had to put it under the ocular of the scope. Brother Archangel, earlier today I was reading your thread about your new lightweight build. Looking forward to it.... You are heading in good direction. It will be light enough don't worry. My barrel 2 lbs 7 oz. It is not bad and I can wield it pretty good. I have the heavy UBR too and it helps a lot to balance it out. Makes it heavier but since it's balanced it really works everything out & feels real good. I know you aren't going that way with stock but yours will be lighter so that's good.
  14. survivalshop, thank you for the offer!!! I am all over that and would very much like your data you offer for the 16". My barrel twist is 1-10 and I was already stuck on 168 gn bullets before I bought any components. From allot of reading & talking I just came to the conclusion that that is what I should try first, I bought hundreds of them (Nosler Ballistic Silver Tips, A-MAX, SMK's) when we went to Reno. Shopped at Cabella's, Sportsmans Warehouse and this very cool store called Sheel's. But anyway I copied my brother in law's load that he loves in his 24" SR25. He told me to use it and it seems very good accuracy wise. But I don't think I went went about it correctly, I did not work up my own load. I have been wondering if all that charge is being burned off before 16" is used up and I bet that it is not. I feel I short changed myself in the experience of developing my own load. Yes I realize the shorter barrel will compete with longer up to a point, but beyond that point is not to be found around these parts so...... Nosler BST, A-Max, SMK, 168 gn IMR 4064, 43.5 gn (also is this too slow a powder for my 16"?) Cases; Nosler Custom, Hornady Match, Winchester. Remington No. 9 1/2 large rifle primer 2.815 average, or where they just fit in the Pmags. I need a chrono!!! bro in law's are broken :'(
  15. But, but, but I can't think of anything, brother unforgiven. Well, but, I wish we could do sound suppressors here in Kalifornia....
  16. I've been putting this off. But just wanted to clarify that now that i have finished the assembly of my rifle, but I suppose I should refer to it as a carbine, I have nothing bad to say about the JD Machine receivers or anything. Everything is working perfectly, Pmags work great with it, everything. The thing fires like a dream and it has convinced me. It has convinced my stepson. He took one shot with it, one shot only from prone, hit his mark at 200 yards and now he wants one. I don't know what he'll do, he'll do it different, try to out do, and I hope that's what he tries to do. He asked what I dumped into it, I told him and he didn't balk. He was shooting his 30-06 bolt gun. That thing hurts & he's no wuss. This one I built no bad felt recoil at all, my .44 magnum lever action has more and you definitely feel it. So I am happy with the choices I made. I am very happy with the JP Enterprises parts that I used exclusively in the upper and also the JP fire control group I chose. I had no fitment issues with anything. And there is very little movement between the two receivers, then I did eliminate virtually all of it with a homemade wedge using some dense rubber foam material that has adhesive on the back of it. She is light, handy and looks to be a smooth & very accurate shooter. I was lucky to acquire the optic that I did. A used USO 1.5-6x28 with reticule in FFP. I wasn't interested in big time magnification, up to 9 or 10 power would be nice, the new Mark 8 Leupold 1-8x is nice but I just can't pull that off. But this USO is good enough, I never expected to shoot past 4/500 or so, and my environment does not usually support that anyway. So my dream was this relatively light and handy .308 gas gun that looks evil and I believe it is accomplished. Next stops 300 & 400 yards, I'll find some meadow up in the mountains to accommodate. So thank you JD Machine & thank you JP Enterprises and Slash and Magpul too. Thank You, Bradley, for that scope!!! <thumbsup>
  17. A lighter bullet, and you can up the charge a little? But I knew velocity was the trade off when I went 16". In my case there is nowhere I can shoot +600 anyway so the choice was pretty easy. There is the argument that shorter barrel more accurate due to higher ring frequency (less wobble).'makes sense to me. My load I'm probably at around 2450 fps, I'm not concerned. I would like to chrono though so I know.
  18. Okay I'll try... I have a 16" stainless match barrel on my LR-308 type build. I am doing hand loads for it. I have to be honest and say I don't know too much, really nothing, about all the different powders and how they compare. I relied on my brother in law for his advise on what a good load is. He shoots a Stoner rifle with a 24" barrel, it is very stupid accurate. He gave me the load he uses for his SR25. Now like I said I knew nothing about where I should begin with my 16", why should this load he told me to use be good in a 16" when he loves it in his 24"? Well I don't know if it matters. The load fills the case and I can hear the crunching of the stick powder a little bit sometimes when I seat the bullets. He didn't instruct me to work up the load, just do it. Stupid me I just did it then. But you know what? It works very well I think so far. This is the load; 168 gn Nosler Ballistic Silver Tip Nosler Custom Case IMR 4064 43.5 gn Remington #9 1/2 large rifle primer... He said it's brass is thick and better for a gas gun so less chance of slam fire. I am using this load with A-Max 168's and Hornady Match Cases too and this so far has been most accurate. Also 168 SMK's in Win brass and those are good too. But Nosler's also very good, but more expensive. I will not up the charge in this load, maybe I should reduce a little, I don't know what if anything I should change right now but it is working very well in mine, tested out to 200 yards at over 8000 feet, it is very accurate.
  19. Brother unforgiven, thanks for this link!! I did not know about it. I all but forgot about this issue. Well cool!! I live in Alameda County, this county is where Oakland is by the way. The fairgrounds is in Pleasanton which is much easier for me to get to than is the Cow Palace in San Francisco County. Now I only hope lots of good vendors will show up at any gun show in Pleasanton. Stupid that guns will have to be secured to tables, but anti gunners are, after all, stupid. Surprising that the Ninth Jerkit Court of Appeals did this, they are by far the most liberal court in the nation.

This is GOLD!!! thanks you guys <thumbsup>
  21. Yes brother unforgiven, you wouldn't even know we were there after we left. We raked the camp fire remnants away like it never happened, all traces of our presence cleaned like we were mafia, except for the bullet holes in tree trunks everywhere ;)
  22. Went camping in Sierra Nevada's over memorial day, the Sequoia National Forest on hwy 108, to be even more precise the Herring road camp sites, we were at around 8200' I think. Awesome country. It was actually snowing when we got there. After few days snow melted and then we could see dead fuel littered all over the floor. That place is going to explode some day soon if it isn't cleaned up. At least firewood detail was easy <thumbsup>
  23. JP low mass bolt carrier will save you, I think it's 4 maybe 4.5 oz. Their light contour 16" Supermatch is 7.2 lbs, I could be wrong about that, memory sux... They have this new Silent Captured spring that replaces traditional buffer design, I don't have that, don't know the weight but looks like it could be light <dontknow> If Cha-Ching no object call and talk to them. So far their LMOS BCG works great in mine, barrel is all about accurate too. I'm using Magpul UBR and it's plenty heavy but it balances out the weapon and is tough as nails. I think it probably weighs in at about 10 lbs. (UBR has to be the big difference) empty before I thru the scope on. JD Machine receivers light and I bet lighter than MATEN, and their 14" hand guard is extremely light weight, the smooth tube one. Not trying to sell u or justify what I did just forwarding what I know. Anyway, so far I'm very happy with the components themselves. Oh yeah another thing is I chose Slash's Heavy Buffer CAR-10 XH 6.5 oz. sooooo....... Yeah ultra light weight wasn't my ultimate goal, just light enough, which it is to me.
  24. That's so nice.... We goes mountain camping this holiday too
