  1. I know this gets a lot of play, but it would amaze many folks how much ammo it takes to qualify quarterly, conduct make up shoots, SRT/SWAT/SORT Training, two or three extra range days a year. It is purchased in bulk and I ain't talking about a pallet or two, I mean bulk and we burn through it pretty quickly. The purchases and contract prices are set based on pretty massive order typically HQ controlled. The variety of calibers is easy to explain. A wide variety of calibers are fielded as well as varying weights. Take a look at the varying loads. .40 (165gr and 180gr) 9mm (124gr and 147gr) .45ACP (230gr) 10mm (180gr and 190gr) 5.56 (55gr, 60 gr, 62gr) .308 (168gr, 165gr, and 175 gr) and last but not least, the old .22 long rifle. This maybe unrelated, but it is something people should consider. And FWIW all Govt Agencies are way too unorganized to be a viable part of any conspiracy.
  2. I second that. Backorder with confidence from DSG.
  3. Well I guess now I can legitimately buy one for the article.
  4. Thanks for the link. I joined and poked around on the site. There are some pretty industrious fellows over there. Reading around almost makes me want to build a 1911........ Almost.
  5. More power to him. I enjoyed it while it was in place. Let's just hope Rainier, Brownells, Leupold and DSG don't have to follow suit.
  6. What I have done is purchased the LMT bolt carriers from Damage Industries and bolts from Rainier. It has worked out well with very little wait. Damage has both full auto and semi carriers.
  7. Somewhere inside this guy, there is a republican fighting to get out to drink a case of Sam Adams, say the Pledge of Allegiance, and thank a Soldier in the Airport.
  8. Imschur, Thanks. See that was history I was unaware of. Sorry for recommending a banned party. Never claimed to be smart, guys. <dontknow>
  9. I don't know all the history with this guy. I had purchased the barrel when I was TDY in TN. I found some of the Internet stuff after the fact hence the comment about mixed reviews. All that being said, it is very good barrel. I can't defend or accost the man since my experience with him was a one and done deal. Neither positive or negative....just a business transaction. :)
  10. You won't regret buying the select or any *See Site News* barrel. Just know that you are buying an accurate barrel and not a match grade pipe. Keep expectations reasonable. I don't have an issue with SS barrels in a SHTF scenario. If the situation is so bad that i am shooting these barrels out, then I will grab another gun off the "thing" that was shooting at me.
  11. He said it himself....you can't stop being who you are.....loosely translated. He was born a douche and he can't stop now.
  12. What is the max magnification that you are interested in?
  13. <lmao> you beat my edit. I didn't want them to see that and put us on their radar too.
  14. For the money, you can't go wrong. I have a select in 308 and it shoots very consistently and accurately. I have a 556 barrel made by the same company as the RA,though not a RA select 5 groove, and it performs very well. That being said, they are not my best barrels, but they are close. You can't beat the price on these. AR15performance makes a SOCOM profile 16 inch that is amazingly accurate and consistent for $190 price tag. Just giving you options. Some people have mixed reviews about the owner, but I believe he sells a whole lotta barrel for a very fair price.
  15. Perhaps a million man march.....without our guns of course ..........is in order. It works for everyone else.
  16. It is my sincere prayer and hope that common sense prevails, there is no ban, and prices are rock bottom with even some personal safe liquidations. Now experience has taught me that hope is not a viable plan of action...so I am relying on prayer and activism. Thanks for the heads up.
  17. Keep in mind that the BATF is always on the hook to get absorbed by another DOJ agency. Rumors abound every fiscal year, which is why they guard NFA violations like a starved pit bull. Like most rumors they have been just that.....at least since the late 1990s. Great people work there, and many are gun nuts like most of us, but from a corporate standpoint I'm not a fan.
  18. If only ole Joe would take him up on his offer....
  19. I am a huge android fan, but I bought my wife an ipad mini for our anniversary and I really like it and recommend it. We only use it with WiFi (no monthly plan because we live in the land that cell towers forgot). I believe it to be worth the price tag.
  20. I will buy from Guns America from now on since we obviously agree about Mr. Jones. ;D
  21. Nope. I was going to keep mine personal so I wouldn't get flamed. If enough people are interested we can certainly start one.
  22. Here is another with a different twist. http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=c3K2G2X-Cxo
  23. I have been circulating this jewel all morning. Excellent find and excellent post.
