  1. After talking to a friend who has done three African Safaris on all sorts of game, I have decided to switch to exclusively copper bullets for hunting. I have had enough Sierras break up in deer that I needed to clean out lead and waste meat because of it. He uses nothing but Barnes and marvels how they open up and stay together on all different sizes of game.
  2. Might try another shop. That sounds high.Look in the 308 AR archives, there are some threads on barrel nut wrenches. I paid $29 for my barrel nut wrench. Even if you need to buy a torque wrench as well they are not that pricey.
  3. He must not have had the outdoor blade attachment. It sharpens at a 25 degree angle rather then Kitchen cutlery 20 degree. My monster Cold Steel Outdoorsman fit right in and came out sharp enough to shave with. Kiwi, you always gotta have one of those for the field, even if you have a fancy one for the home bench. If your using your knife day in day out, it needs a good tune up along the way.
  4. I am sure this topic has been covered else where, but I looked and, couldn’t find it.I have always been a traditionalist, using whet, oil, or more recently, diamond stones to put an edge on my kitchen and outdoor cutlery. On a friends recommendation, I picked up one of these; https://www.amazon.com/Work-Sharp-Knife-Tool-Sharpener/dp/B003IT5F14/ref=sr_1_10?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1535228246&sr=1-10&keywords=Knife+sharpeners And I got to admit I am impressed. Very sharp edges on all sorts of cutlery. Anyone else have any personal favorites?
  5. Go to theCamp Perry rifle matches and stay there on the way back.
  6. This thread should be renamed “ Eat the canned Phoenix” because it keeps coming back to life out of the ashes.
  7. Well said!
  8. But does it trap the heat?
  9. You will enjoy this.
  10. Believe it. When I was single I always gravitated towards “man eaters”. Got me in a bunch of trouble after all the fun and games. Finally learned my lesson.
  11. Somebody needs to teach that kid that at his age prioriies should be ultra hot vixens, and not some shoot em up video game. He could get himself a 308 AR AND still pair up with her. Who knows, maybe she enjoys shooting?
  12. I would forecast premature ejaculation.
  13. Amazing how the presence of a woodie can totally mask batshit crazy. I mean it is the ultimate stealth! No clue! Then all of a sudden the craziness appears after your needs are taken care of. “Where TF did all this come from?” It was there all along just masked by the Woodmeister.
  14. All those rationalizations sound good until the hormones kick in. Then it’s like; “WTF have I done!?”?
  15. Been reading about that south Wisconsin flooding. We are dryer than a bone right now.
  16. Pretty accurate. But I do remember one night in the “no go zone” and to this day I wonder where that batschit crazy plain woman learned everything she did.
  17. If any of you don’t recognize these three, I probably have stuff in my refrigerator older than you.
  18. You can leave, all offended and butthurt - or you can stay, and possibly learn more. Once you decide that you know everything, and stop learning, and you refuse to grow. That's when you get surpassed, by everyone else that's still willing to learn. Everyone, all the time, every single day - needs to learn something new... Those are really good words to live by. But I am still not going to learn to eat a whole canned chicken. ?
  19. I have been looking at these for a while now. http://woodforar.com/walnut-rifle-grade-a/
  20. Distant EarlyWarning System. DEWS. Those monster radars in Alska and Greenland to pick up ICBM launches.
  21. Didn’t last long, but I do like wood furniture on an AR. Maybe someday.
  22. I will do that. He is up in Santa Rosa right now.
  23. Sorry I asked him a question. Robot post maybe? A smart A-s robot??
