  1. Another welcome from Wisconsin
  2. Mike, good to see you are just getting warmed up for your 70’s! Take that sturgeon as a sign- he is a lot older than you, so he is showing you you have a lot of living left to do! Beautiful country!
  3. A story on the Original AR10 and Armalite back in 1959 started my fascination with it as a kid. No link to the story, just the picture.

    Good deal?

Follow up: The WTP holster fits it like a glove. I had reservations About an IWB Kydex holster, but it is comfortable to wear and is secure.
  5. I have a friend with a one off AR10T “B”model rifle in 338 Federal. Already has a triple lapped medium heavy target barrel. Never been shot. Wonder if I should talk to him about selling?
  6. Boon, what’s your barrel twist, 1 in 10? You might take a look at some of the Barnes bullets. They kind of rewrote the book on some of their lighter 150 gr range projectiles having a high ballistic coefficient. But you should be able to comfortably go up to 168 gr or 175 gr and do well.
  7. I think it is just vacuum formed plastic, but I will take a closer look at them. Maybe borrow a heat gun and see if it is malleable.
  8. I need a higher cheek riser for my M1A. I am going to play around with a couple of Delta risers I have for use with a fixed handle M16 with a scope on top, and see if I can get them to work.
  9. Galati is a good source for parts you can’t find any where else. That is a good find! At old prices no less!

    Scratched my itch.

Fall Coho spawning run is on. Picked up a 20 “ brown and a 22” Coho today. Panko crusted fish filets for dinner!
  11. By the way, did you ever find some Gen II magazines?
  12. Congrats Jay, looks good. As you know by now, Armalites are great shooters. And everyone will be happy because your scope mount is not backwards!
  13. That Armalite field repair kit was put together by the former Chief Armorer of Armalite. It is a handy thing to have. When an extractor spring goes, it is the difference between ruining a good day of shooting, and a ten minute repair. I speak from experience on that one.
  14. 9 mm 45 acp, 357 mag, 44 mag, 20 ga, 12 ga, 22 lr, 22 win mag, 30-06, 5.56, 7.62x51, 300 blk. 7.62x39. Think I will always have something to shoot. Decided to use my Arsenal AK in 7.62 x 39 with iron sights as my hog gun.
  15. “round not ejecting and hard to pull the charge handle to remove the spent round“ Trying to figure out what would make it difficult to remove the spent round. Tight chamber?
  16. Sometimes I wonder, but if times got hard, 5.56 x 45 or 223 might be all that I can find. So I hang on to them.

    Good deal?

Got out today and put maybe 15 rounds through it. I like it. Comfortable to shoot, good enough accuracy at 10 yards. Need to drift the sights a bit as it shoots left, as most pistols do for me. That isn't the best story of the day though. While I was at the range, there was a nursing home taking some of their residents to their weekly shooting range.day! Is that great or what! They were having a gas!
  19. Sounds like a good plan to me. I think you would be safe in doing that. I am a long way away from being a reloading guru however, see what everyone else says.

    Grilling

    A beautiful sight to behold!
  21. Finding out different case capacites by weight is pretty easy, and I do it as a matter of course. A good idea for safety purposes. After that, I do as you suggested. I load a single brand at a time, then see how the groups match up when I load the next brand, looking for signs of high pressure. For mid range loads, you are probably fine. If you start to push the pressures towards max loads, then I would maybe get a software program like Quickload lets you look at what projected pressures are by case volume, bullet, and powder combinations. I tend to step back one or two levels from max loads anyway, as I don’t get the opportunity to do much distance shooting.

  23. I came to 308AR to find out about big bore AR’s. I stay because it’s more entertaining then anything on TV or Netflix. We have comedy, we have drama, no “Real Housewifes of Orange County”, but we have something better; 98’s latest plan to accomplish his latest conquest. It’s like a moth to a flame man, I just keep on coming back for the latest episode. Plus, I get to learn about guns! Ain’t no downside! Scuse me while I get some popcorn!
  24. Never used a Gen 1. But agree with JT. Or test it and see if it works if you have time.
