  1. I don't have the time for games anymore. If I screw up I admit it and move on. If someone else screws up and admits it I accept it and move on. If they offer excuses or blow it off, I write them out of my life as a friend or to be trusted. I wouldn't trust them to tell the truth after that. It isn't the screw up, its the lies and BS covering it up I can't stand.
  2. A lot of different 308ARs in that price range as well. You could also get a base model of a DPMS Oracle or a Armalite Defensive sporting rifle for under $1000 and use the extra money in your budget to add custom features. An M1A is fun but is a completely different shooting experience and doesn't have the aftermarket customizing potential that a a DPMS 308AR pattern rifle would have. Personally? Screw the budget and get both. You might as well get your 308 addiction off on a proper foot.
  3. He said it very well. I would be reluctant to buy a Sig right now. Glad I went for a FNX 45 rather then a Sig P227.
  4. Man, part of my youth just left..............
  5. Decided to try one of these for my 300Blk. Even though it is a 223 BDC. I am going to experiment and see if I can use the holdover marks to compensate for subsonic bullet drop at 100 yards both unsuppressed and suppressed. That way I can keep a zero for my supersonic load and not have to mess with adjustments when I switch to subsonic and/or suppressor. I am not really anticipating that rifle being used much past 150 yards. If it doesn't work out I have a safe queen AR15 I can put it on. With coupon code and free shipping it is costing me $90 delivered to my door. So right now I have a total of $509 invested in my 300 Blk with optics. A lot of bang for the buck.
  6. Like that barrel. Interested to find out how the groups hold together when it heats up. No big deal in a hunting rifle, which I assume is the intended use. Nice and light.
  7. Welcome back Ed.
  8. I actually like the concept of Glocks just don't like the trigger or grip angle.
  9. "Is that a Glock in your pocket, or are you happy to see me?"
  10. Shared before but one of my favorites.
  11. SS you caught me!
  12. To quote the Who; "The kids are alright'" And Shepp buddy, at my age, everybody under 50 is a kid.
  13. The next batch of supersonic loads I am switching to H110 powder, 10.7 grams, again with the Sierra Matchking 175 gr BTHPs.

    Hello

Welcome from Wisconsin. Might want to warm up your checkbook, this forum is financially dangerous.
  15. Welcome from far north Wisconsin
  16. Fortunately I know a few Millennials who are anything but this, my son being one of them. He goes to school, graduating in December with a business degree, he works 32 hours a week, and he has plans for his future. One of his best friends is going to college, paying for it himself, bought a house, AND is working 40 hours a week to get his business degree. There are some good, hard working kids out there along with the slackers. Thank God.
  17. Another range day. Reached in the back of the safe and brought along my first AR10. Standard Rifle, nothing done to it except adding a Nikon Monarch 4x16 when I got it in 2012. Fed it some 168 gr, Sierra Match Kings in front of 41 grains of RL 15 in the Indian Army brass I mentioned above. Had one bad case that would not go into battery, otherwise every thing was good. A 10 round group at 187 yards below. A damn fine rifle.
  18. Took the Radical Arms 300 Blk out to the range today to test some handloads. For $449 current price, I am really impressed with this rifle, coming with a key mod floating handguard and an Ergo grip standard. Currently have a cheap red dot on it. It handled 50+ Supersonic hand loads, subsonic hand loads, and Seller and Beloit subsonic factory with no FTFs or FTEs. Accuracy was quite good at 100 yards. the loads I shot are listed below. All Lake City cases. 98's instructions for case prep were spot on. 175 gr Sierra Matchking 15.8 grains Accurate 1680 208 gr Hornady AMAX 10.7 grains Accurate 1680- printed 15 inches below the above load. The Seller and Beloit factory rounds printed very close to this loading.
  19. To each their own. I carried 9mm for years, went back to 45 acp and 1911's 5 years ago and haven't looked back. Either one will do the job if used properly.

    Grilling

Picked up my half a cow. $3 @pound this year. 282 pounds wrapped. BBQED a 2" thick roundsteak to test. It's a good one!
  21. Loaded up 25 test subsonic rounds in 300 Blk with Hornady 208 grain AMax and 10.7 grains of Accurate 1680. Also 75 Supersonic 175nSMK BTHPs with 16 gr of accurate 1680.
  22. Found an old picture of the summer camp where I was voted favorite camp counselor/educator.
  23. Glad everyone is OK.
