Over now, the Coho are all up the river dead now after spawning. Waiting now for the Brown Trout to come back down to the big lake after spawning. Temp was 61 F yesterday, keep up like this I will be fishing again into December off the boat.
  6. Man I am going to respect you for stating your opinion if I agree with it or not! If we all agreed on everything we would be bored out of our skulls.
  7. Two years ago two guys I know both nearly died from falling out of tree stands. One guy only survived because they found him by his cell phone gps unconcious with a broken neck. Other one still limps from all the steel pins in his smashed ankle. Because of my size and age, I have retired from using tree stands. Too many accidents. Even with a safety harness which I used, accidents can happen. My Dad lost a finger from a horse bolting and the lead rope wrapped around his finger and snapped it off. Landed in a pile of horse manure so they decided not to reattach it.

These showed up on my game cams yesterday. Hunting alone this year son won't be hunting.
  10. EngrBob, been using those Sierra 165 gr game kings in 30-06 since the 1970's in almost the same load as you. They are killers. Almost always find though that they break in two and go different directions when they hit bone. Had one bullethit the sternum of a buck and half took a right turn and exited his rib cage, and the other half went through his heart and out his ass! Was a bit of a mess, but we saved the meat.
  11. Any fine upstanding Wisconsin man needs one. Shepp is one of our smoker experts. You are in the right place.
  12. For me 165 is well done. Sounds right.
  13. Except bear. Bear in Wisconsin has a high incidence of Trichinosis. One meat you cook the crap out of. Everything else Mag is right.

Nice, just put out my game cams for the gun deer season. Nothing showing up on them yet. A thousand feet from where I sit.
  17. Think the rebuilt 5.56 Galil's Century was selling were called Golani's- a mix up of Israeli and American parts to satisfy American sourced requirements.
  18. Good one! I knew it was coming, just a matter of who. https://www.amazon.com/Fighting-Rifle-Complete-Study-Combat/dp/087364297X
  19. Back in the Pre Clinton Ban days, Chuck Taylor rated the Galil 7.62 X 51 one of his favorite rifles, along with a shortened FN-FAL with folding stock he worked up himself. Israel took what they learned from the six day war and the Yom Kippur war, and the reliability of the AK in the desert, and worked to improve accuracy and better manufacturing/machining techniques to develop their new individual small arms. The U.S. stifled them by basically giving Israel unlimited M-16's for free. As nice a weapons as the Galil's are, free was hard to say no to, so the Galil's have sat in limbo for a long time. The 5.56 Galil was eventually overtaken by the Tavor, I don't know about the 7.62. I thought Century Arms was unloading some rebuilt Israeli based Galils in 5.56 under another name a few years ago. Reviews said they were pretty beat up with a lot of malfunctions.I always wanted to get my hands on a 7.62 model to see how good they were. For $2000+ though, I will pass. Good looking rifle though.
  20. Do you know of any good articles on the M1 Garand?
  21. Going back and buy them out.
  22. Up in Isle Royale it is the moose with the cysts, same issue though. Have to filter drinking water down to 1 microns or boil it to keep from ingesting live eggs.
  23. Hope you find some.
