  1. Glad you guys are enjoying some nice balmy weather. It was -8F at 3 am when I got up to stoke the wood boiler up the hill, and rekindle the fire in the fireplace. 12 inches of snow projected for today. A picture of the big lake the other day. It is lake effect snow season. Haven't decided if it is long underwear time yet.
  2. Beach nice of you to do this.

  3. Welcome from Wisconsin
  4. Would prefer they put their creative efforts towards a 308 AR. Or maybe something taking from both the 308AR and the M1A? I really don't know if there is much compatibility there, but it might be kind of interesting to develop. Wonder how a direct gas impingement M1A hybrid would shoot?
  5. Then I think about the crap our veterans and current active duty people put up with and went through in Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam and other places and it was a walk in the park.
  6. Nice pack Mineralman, be interested in your furthur reviews. Used to do the winter camping thing in my 20's and early 30's. Coldest it ever got was -22F. At that temperature you are going to be cold, period. Look up The Kekakabic Trail in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of Northern Minnesota. 42 miles of ungroomed survival test in the middle of winter. Back in the 70's we didn't have cell phones to bail us out if something happened.
  7. An M1A with a 50 round drum? That is gun porn of the highest level!
  8. Beautiful! Now that Dodge is quitting making them, they will start to climb in value. More than twice the horsepower of my stock Chebby Corvette C5. But I do drive a Ram Laramie which I love.
  9. Should be able to get some type of Uncle Sam grant for the ammo. Maybe apply for "A working Historical Preservation of American Ingenuity in hand operated implements" grant from the Smithsonian. Say $75,000 to start, should cover a day of lighting it up in the desert, or at least until we melt the barrels.
  10. This sent chills down my spine. http://ijr.com/wildfire/2016/12/753347-the-navy-army-games-powerful-rendition-of-natl-anthem-puts-every-nfl-player-who-took-a-knee-to-shame/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=owned&utm_campaign=ods&utm_term=ijamerica&utm_content=sports
  11. Truth, It is odd though that factory tolerances are different than they were 5 years ago. Enjoy it if it works. I enjoy mine.
  12. Well said.
  13. R2 saiys it well. these are bad pictures I.just took i low light, but neither of my AR10's built 5 and 6 years ago show gaps like that. you cannot see daylight between either one. My Armalite loyalty is to rifles they apparently no longer produce. If I was to buy an assembled rifle now, I would go with Rock River Arms. otherwise, I would build.
  14. It transfers as a regular rifle. Guessing it would clog a supressor within seconds.
  15. I picked up a G2S a year ago with the plan to put it in my old Colt HBAR, forgetting about the fact that needs a large pin instead of the small pin system used now. And those large pin ones never go on sale! I am going to put the G2S in an Olympic Arms carbine I have when I get around to it.
  16. Only if you are a part owner of a lead mine.
  17. Figure will need 5 or 6 Dillion electric progressive reloader's, and truckload discounts on cases, primers, powders and bullets.
  18. I'll bring the beef.
  19. Wouldn't bother reloading, I can buy steel case ammo for a 7.62 X 39 a lot cheaper than I can reload. It is not much more expensive than 22 rimfire at times. $7.99 here for 22 box of 50. I have gotten 7.62 X 39 as cheap as $4.32 for 20. 16 cents a round for 22, 21 cents a round for $7.62. Even at $5 a box it's 25 cents a round.
  20. Sketch thought this should be in this thread, and I think he is right. https://www.cdnnsports.com/colt-1877-bulldog-gatling-gun-hispeed-45-70.html?___SID=U
  21. I eat all the wrong foods, but damn, I'm happy! Do try to stay away from refined sugars and carbs as much as possible. But still weigh too much.
  22. Finally did EAA's museum in Oshkosh a couple of months ago. Enjoyed it, especially the 1/3 size F22 mockup.
  23. We will definitely need to get a Dillon progressive press and a volume discount on primers, cases, powder, and bullets. Make that 5 Dillon progressives and truckload discounts.
  24. Had a 1 and 1/2 inch thick round steak the other night rubbed down with my home made roasted garlic paste with sea salt and rosemary, and grilled to medium rare over a 600F charcoal fire. The cow was raised and butchered locally, fed on a grain mix in the winter and grass pasture in the summer. Round steak is usually a little tough and needs to be pounded. Not this, could have cut it with a butter knife. Still working on it with steak sandwiches for lunch. Tonight locally butchered pig country style ribs slow cooked. What is this about vegans?
  25. There are bears and then there are "bares"! Anyway, my friend George up there "disappeared" after breaking into a compact car with 50 pounds of sunflower bird seed in the back seat. The owner woke up to the horn blaring and George was in the drivers seat with his ass up on the steering wheel and his head in the bag of sunflowers in the back seat. He disappeared shortly thereafter. Interesting but there was a loud shot at dusk one evening. Now back to the regularly scheduled blonde,.. Oops I mean programming.
