98Z, now that we have totally pirated your thread, have you decided on that 300 WM 700?

Nothing is worth bringing those types around.
  3. Based on some of the concerns of some of the other forum members which are quite valid, I am withdrawing my suggestion. Don't want to ruin a good thing!

So be it, I guess we don't.
  5. Amazing the things a few well placed rounds of 308 will fix.
  6. Got the same issue. Never got used to pistol shooting with the left hand, though I can do it. So I trained myself to shoot right handed with my weak eye. It works.
  7. While this is primarily a 308AR Forum, and the best one on the web, a number of us also have 30 caliber service rifles, like the M1 Garand, or the M1A Springfield M14 clone. While there are other Forums specializing in them, how about a section on here for us to talk about them? Just a humble suggestion.

Even though this is a 308AR Forum, and the best one, maybe we should have a section devoted to M1A's M14's and M1 Garands? Call it the Service 30's or something like that?
  9. Just don't wake up to one of these at the foot of your bed. Wrong kind of mushrooms. But he does know the proper torque needed with an armorer's wrench.

About this time I start talking about a woodie. Humor aside, my first ever rifle as a 12 year old was a sporterized 1917 30-06 Enfield design made by Winchester. This brought back memories of carrying and shooting that during deer season- a wood service rifle stock has a feel like no other. I love my 10's, but this is the service rifle of my youth, and when I was a kid I couldn't read enough about it. So yeah, it feels fantastic. Can't wait to go again. A totally different shooting experience than an AR 308. Definitely not as technologically advanced, but solid as all steel and wood can be. First thing my son said, "That is a beautiful rifle".
  11. If you can't figure it out, definitely use that Armalite Lifetime warranty. Send it back and have them go over it. Include the magazine when you do.

Thanks, that was actually 2- 3 shot groups.

Thanks Brothers. Took a while to dial it in with M80 then adjust for my reloads. But I am happy with the result. those are standard, not National Match sights. not going to scope it. It taught me sight picture discipline already, learned scopes and red dots have made me a little lazy. Like the feel, guess I am a little retro old school, still love my 10's though.

    Enough said
  15. Found it.
  16. My OAL is exactly 2.80. I am using Armalite Gen 2 "B' mags, and they handle them just fine, as well as the M118LR's. I don't have that problem that some of the DPMS/KAC standard Mags do of not being able to use the M118LR. I think Magpul makes a special mag for that. That isn't a problem with the Armalite standard "B" mags. That issue has been reported in some threads here before.I looked but I could not find a reference. If I find one I will post.
  17. I used to believe it when they said cereal was good for you, until I passed a magic decoder ring. I am gonna be checking the cereal boxes a little more carefully.
  18. Picked up some of that on JT's recommendation. It's nasty!
  19. 120 at most use whatever you want, should work fine.

Son is coming home for a couple of days. time to smoke some meat and hit the gun range!
  21. We have one wanting to go in near us less then a quarter mile from a trout and salmon stream. 10 Million gallons of pig crap a year.
  22. I have the Burris fixed mount, which works fine, I have heard of problems locally here with the QD Burris. After you switch that, think about other things. Did you do a break in procedure on the barrel when it was new? My current favorite for my AR10's are 39.6 grns. RL 15 behind a 175gr Sierra Match King in my 1 in 10" twist 16" barrel. Winchester primer, M118LR Lake City case. In my 1 in 11.25" twist 20" barrel rifle, I am using 41 grns. RL15 behind a 168 gr SMK BTHP, Winchester Primer, M-80 Lake City case. Not max loads by any means, but quite accurate.
  23. My 16" has a 1 in 10" barrel twist, by the way. Probably why it likes 175's.
