Good news! I found a pair on Amazon that were mislabeled as standard N frame grips. I took a chance and ordered them. THey are just a standard dark brown hardwood, but are the same size. So I popped them on the model 28 for now and they are just fine. Only $62 instead of $199. So if anybody wants a new pair of standard N frame grips, let me know. I will give you a deal.
The wood gripped N Frames are a work of art. I just pulled my oversize goncalo alves S and W target grips from 1977 off my Model 28 and put them on my Model 29. They no longer make them, and they are going for $199 on EBay. I paid $28 for them in 1977. They really help with the kick.
it is accurate, now I have to settle on a favorite load, then fine tune the sights for that load.
Turned out not to work that great. The Hi Vis sights are so easy on the eyes, I found myself ignoring the laser and using them. Impressed a kid with an AR15 at the range, he wanted to know all about it.
Just caught up with your report Fletch. Excellent job. Thank you. Wind is always the big variable. You can plan for just about everything else, and shifting winds like that will still throw a wrench in things. That could be a good thread on it's own to hear how people adjust for those conditions. I have a Simmons scope on my AR10T that has windage dots for holding off depending on wind speed and caliber, but I really haven't messed with them like I should. Where I normally shoot is at the top of a 400 foot ridge, so winds can often be a problem. I need to do more practice compensating.
Salt, bay leaves, granulated garlic, dried onion, black pepper. That's it. Nothing out of the ordinary. Son was home, so we put a good dent in it, but brisket sandwiches for a few days. Brine or injector, both work.
Happy Father's Day 2016 -Brined brisket, dry rubbed with seasonings, olive oil and minced fresh garlic. Eight hours in on a 12 hour smoke. Will be served with homemade barbeque sauce with no high fructose corn syrup to be seen.
Looked good brother until I saw $50.75 a box! But I am going to start looking around for a box of it. I think I will save my M118LR brass for that one.
I think I will set 30 brass aside and load up a good soft point for next years deer season and load 100 for max accuracy.
I just cleaned, sized, trimmed, deburred, and primed 130 7.62 x 51 cases. Can't decide whether to load my old standbys, 175 and 168 gr SMK BTHP's or try something new. Always open for suggestion. Any thoughts?
