  1. It wears on you after a while, but we don't have Cottonmouths, Brown Recluses, Black widows, and very few rattlesnakes in the south and southeast corner of the state. We do have a lot of Lyme disease however. And a lot of cold and snow. Unfortunately not a lot of shooting ranges. Main reason I am told is liability. But getting permits approved I think is also a problem.
  2. They say the resin tip improves the ballistic coefficient to enable the bullet to maintain the ability to stay supersonic to 1000 yards. Guessing it would be an extremely hot powder load. I like my AR10's and I worry now about long term use of M118LR after I put it on a chronograph and saw how hot it was.The bullet is only one variable, so I am guessing it could, but I probably wouldn't unless I was the Army Marksmanship Unit and had a squad of full time armorers to service my weapons. The Hornady could probably do so as well but at what load and what long term price to your weapon? As the TMK is out a while we will get more info on recommended loads and we will see just how better it is.
  3. Able to maintain supersonic speeds to 1000 yards in 308. These are gonna be hot. https://www.sierrabullets.com/store/product.cfm/sn/7775/308-dia-175-gr-Tipped-MatchKing-TMK

Wonder if he had his safety on?
  12. Saw this on another forum. Some people like to bad mouth the French, but their Legionaires are tough. Read what his opinion of his American counterparts in Afghanistan was. http://www.warriorlodge.com/blogs/news/16298760-a-french-soldiers-view-of-us-soldiers-in-afghanistan
  13. The next Corvette will be midengined, close to 1000 hp and named the "Zora". Also jut read a review of the new Charger Hellcat. It actually beats the Challenger Hellcat's times around a road course. Now that is a four door sedan I could come to love!
  14. I would take a C7 ZO6 over a Hell Kitty any day. Straight line the Kitty might be a shade faster but through the curves it would be in my rear view mirror My standard C5 convertible can take on the SRT Challenger as it stands, at least with the drivers sround here. Hemi probably lucky you don't live here.
  15. I gotta get some of these. Tired of messing around with trespassers. Lol. http://www.wideopenspaces.com/trespassing-hunter-gets-blasted-paint-video/?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_term=WOS%20Main%20Production&utm_campaign=WOS_newsletter_12.16%20-%20wos%20sup%20MI%2C%20TX%2C%20OR%2C%20OH%2C%20NY&utm_content=B
  16. I know a lot of you guys have built your rifles and are rightfully proud of them and their performance. That being said, I picked up an Armalite AR10T last fall that has a 16" Stainless Bull Barrel, an Armalite National Match trigger, and a free floating foreend. I doubt I could build this quality of a rifle for what I paid for it complete: $1,299.00. It is more accurate than I am, and Other than Optic, bipod, BUIS, and a sling, I have added nothing, and don't really see a reason to. With everything on it, using a Burris 2x12 Fairfield scope, I have $1750 invested. I did miss out on the accomplishement of making it myself, but the point is, if you want, you can get some great deals on manufactured rifles, especially right now. And the same goes for Optics. I think building your own rifle is a great philosophy, but it is just that, a philosophical difference.
  17. MC greetings from Wisconsin. You will like the Nikon Monarch, great optic for the money. Might check out the Nikon 308 BDC also.
  18. Freezingduck, Armalite, Armalite, Armalite. You won't be sorry.
  19. Glad you came through ok I used to sell the anticoagulants to prevent blood clots after total knee replacements. I have observed those surgeries. As far as the back, I share your pain. Two bilateral stenosis that I feel every day. Have you tried an inversion table? It helped me.
  20. After looking at your picture I went back and moved mine back to flush with the front of the hand guard. Looks better and less overhang to catch stuff. Like you said, a neat piece of kit.
  21. Friend, your right, I just need to adopt the attitude of a 66 year old pissed off rutting bear! Who happens to be carrying an AR10 through the brush. You know this means I gotta go to the Doc for a whole bunch of new prescriptions!
  22. Yep! Just about says it all.
  23. Getting back to thread; As the four pages of on and off topic responses have illustrated, every one has an opinion. 1. You are going to have more bullet and cartridge choices with a 30-06 no doubt. 2. You are going to have less bullet drop and more velocity generally with a .270. 3. Both can do what you want to do, and more importantly is the amount of shooting you do with either one to get to know the cartridge and the individual rifle. If buying a 30-06 lets you shoot more ammo because of good ammo prices, you would be better with a 30-06. 4. If ammo cost is unimportant, The 270 will have a small advantage at distance because of the cartridges performance values. 5 there are several other cartridges that will do as well or better than either one based on your performance criteria of 500-700 yards in bolt guns. There is no right answer by the way.
  24. Check the AR10 section for a thread on YHM gas block adapters as a possible alternative for low profile gas blocks.I just installed one on my AR10 T carbine. Havent used it yet however. Oops! Just looked at the picture won't work.
  25. Finally got my YHM adapters after being rerouted all over the country by the UPSP and UPS. To be honest, partly my fault. The adapters go onto the rail of the low profile gas block quite easily and tighten with a hex key. My offset BUIS slipped on quite easily as well. The sight ends up sitting ahead of the gas block. Good news: A slightly longer sighting plane. Bad News: Under real world use, I can see webbing, straps, branches, etc. slipping into th gap between the front of the sight and the barrel and causing all sorts of hang ups. May not be a problem, we will see. But for $45 dollars versus the price of a new free floating front rail, it gives me a set of easily usable BUIS. Will report more after I get a range visit with it. The addition of the 45 degree offset BUIS definitely makes this rifle take up more safe space.
