  1. B model Gen II are, I'm afraid, going to be a thing of the past.
  2. ^^^Beautiful. Only thing to add: Michael Moore, you are a sick little loser.
  3. My advice: I am 66 and have two Armalites. If you can find a last years AR10T in rifle or carbine on closeout, buy it. It will be plenty accurate. Under 700 yards, the carbine will be fine with the right ammo. Same for the rifle out to 1000. Standard AR10 rifle is accurate as well. I can't vouch for the standard carbine, but I am guessing it will be a little less. My AR10T carbine is as accurate as my 20 inch AR10 Standard rifle. That stainless bull barrel on the AR10T carbine helps even things up a lot. Hunt around and there are still some B models on closeout around. Just have to use the Gen II proprietary mags. Which are very reliable.
  4. I see new bells and whistles, but not that impressed. Maybe a piston AR10 would have done it. When they start demonstrating what the performance of these new rifles are, I will start paying more attention. Will the 3 gun AR10 outshoot my AR10T carbine for quite a bit more money? I need to see the proof for those prices. That money would buy a lot of ammo.
  5. Saw the movie tonight. Powerful stuff even after the Hollywood massage job. Now I am raising a glass of Jamisons Irish Whiskey to Chris Kyle and all his Brothers in Arms in harms way.
  6. Come to think of it, I gotta go have a cigarette and a nap.
  7. Can't blame you, I am thinking about picking up a Volkswagon Phaeton W12 433 hp AWD. The fastest VW you never heard of. Only 300 in the US. Trouble is finding a low mileage one.
  8. Saw it a while ago. Damn good movie, my wife said the book was even more graphic on what happened to him. Short term courage is admirable. Long term courage like Louie's is to be revered. It is one thing if you know its gonna end. Another thing entirely if you don't know it ever will. Going to American Sniper tonight. Can't wait.
  9. That is flat out gorgeous! Agree with you on what should have replaced the M1 Garand.
  10. You don't wash out of this course, if a stray round doesn't take you out, you get a pass.
  11. Nice walleyes Shepp! My advice for ice fishing: stay south where you are. The DNR instituted an emergency one fish limit on Lake Trout on Superior because of overharvesting by the gill netters the last ten years. The Lake Trout fishery has pretty much been destroyed. Heres hoping the Brown Trout fishing is good.
  12. Agree, feeling a little puzzled about these new rifles. Courts out until we get a chance to shoot and evaluate them. Bit of a gamble.
  13. Glad she made it OK. Had some edgy times when I was young traveling by bus, I will stay home now rather than take it.

    savage vs remmy

Until you shoot both, there is no way to say which is "best" for you. Either rifle is more accurate then I can probably shoot I shoot a Savage Model 116 bolt, my Dad shot a Remington 700, my son shoots a Savage. Find a way to do range time with both before you buy.
  15. Put him in a room full of fathers who have lost their children by tragedy, wait one hour and scrape up whatever is left and flush it down a toilet.
  16. The DEF should work with any thing right out of the box. Lube it up good and shoot a good number of rounds. If it does not loosen up fairly quick, take advantage of that sweet lifetime warranty that Armalite products have. They will make it right.
  17. If compatible, I would replace the carrier with an updated one without the ridge, if it is compatible with the older rifles. Armalite Tech Dude should be able to answer that. Then you don't have to worry about a repeat.
  18. I concealed carry. I Would open carry only if there was a high probability of being engaged, say 90%. As in normal life the probability having to use my weapon is way less than 1%, concealed carry works fine for all the reasons above.
  19. If you own an Armalite, or for that matter, any AR type, The Armalite Technical bulletins on their website make for great reading.
  20. Agreed. Don't put it on unless there is an overwhelming need for it. As a lefty I should put on an ambi safety.

What not to do: in the gym yesterday I got distracted talking to a young lady, didn't noticed I put four 50 pound plates on instead of four 25's. I lifted it off the rack Oh.... S.......! No wonder I am so sore today. Did do a five mile walk this morning with a pack. Now I am going to abuse my body at Christmas Eve dinner.
  22. Your right there, a helluva of a bullet for hunting, and accurate.

" Keep moving when you stop you are fubared." Best advice in the thread. To paraphrase the Stones: If you can't get the exercise you want, get the exercise you need.

    Bill Cosby

I spent three hours in the same room as the guy 20 years ago. My impression: despite the way he came across on TV, he is a very angry man. I could see him doing it.
  25. Amen, Hallaluiia, I have heard the word! Say it again Brother! Look up "Awesome" in Webster's Dictionary, and there is a picture of an AR10.
