  1. Thanks for the response. I went back through the optical section and saw nothing on them, so i guess I am obligated to write up a report and review when I get them.
  2. Has any one used the Yankee Hill Machine gas block adapters on their AR10? I want to mount some 45 degree offset BUIS on both my AR10 and AR10T , and as I don't currently have full length picatinny rails, need to get them on the same sight plane, front and back.
  3. An aquaintance got a case from eating Elk he shot in Colorado. It is very similar to Jakob Creutzfeldt Syndrome, or Mad Cow Disease. Caused by a Prion which is essentially a glorified protein. Can withstand heat to 1600 F so you can't cook it out. Best thing is to inspect the animal for general health and like said above, stay away from organs, brains and bones.
  4. I have an Arsenal AK with a milled reciever my son has adopted. IFirst time I fired it, at 25 meters I couldn't see a hole in the target, than I realized it was a perfect bullseye. Arsenals are all sighted for 25 meters at the factory. It will keep things in a softball sized circle at 100 yards, and for an AK that is fine. They are fun, and cheap. I respect and understand the negative feelings about them a lot of ex servicemen have since they were the weapon of the enemy. That said, Mikhail Kalishnakov put together a weapon that met the mission requirements of the Soviets and then some.
  5. Agree, for no other reason then I value my AR10's more than my other rifles, and I like to reload. But my AK gets nothing but steel and works fine.
  6. At a certain point, it is not hard to take some stories with a huge grain of salt. I have been attacked by dogs twice in my younger days, but they were both in an urban setting, by individual dogs. I find it hard to beli ve that if a pack of wild dogs were attacking people, that the DNR or local government wouldn't be set to exterminate them. With all due respect Ma Deuce, it is a tough story to believe. But I have never lived in rural Florida either.
  7. Although I am an Armalite fan, I am going to wait and see what the Army Marksmanship Unit adopts before I jump on the bandwagon. The extras look good, but unless they improve the accuracy or handling, they are window dressing. At this stage of the game I like what I got, and want to see some proof they are actually better for what you have to spend.
  8. Same here, but that is just me and I have never had any 308 but Armalite. Couldn't tell you a thing about Bushmaster from personal experience, either good or bad. Can say I have over 1000 rounds in two AR10's without one FTF or FTE, or any problem of any sort.
  9. I think I do and your right.
  10. Didn't by chance write down the model numbers? Then we could compare apples to apples. Sounds like the Bushmaster had a magpul or Ergo style stock. I shoot Armalite myself and am partial to them, but if the Bushmaster had extras on it it might be a good deal.
  11. Very nice, good story too. Elk roasts in the middle of winter, no better pick me up. Congrats.
  12. Use the same press, works great for the price. If you are using the scale that came with it, borrow a scale to make sure it is accurate. Mine was plus or minus 2 grains! That is just way too much. I went to a digital scale. And I have a lot more peace of mind.
  13. Have to try that, I am still using the lube pad.
  14. Great area except for California government. My sister used to live in the area between Mendocino and Ukaiah in the redwoods. Pretty area up there, but you had to be damn careful where you walked. Think you know why. Always liked Sonoma valley before it got "discovered".
  15. Leave it to Texans to figure out how to make shredded pork BBQ in one easy step.
  16. I am an old guy, still waiting for it to appear.
  17. Mix em with some cheddar and have a Great Cheese Danish.
  18. Get a couple of those big mongrels Shibi, and have a neighborhood BBQ.

    Sky carp

Great name for those suckers! There are a bunch of em around this year. Was down in Madison on Thursday, they were thicker than thieves on Lake Mendota.

    It's here!

Like this thread as I want to get a 227.

    SIG SP2022

I got the SP2022 in 40 S and W. I picked up a 357 Sig. Barrel for it but havent tried that yet. Like a lot of carbon fiber frames it feels top heavy and takes a little getting used to. It is huge! But makes up for it by being light. It weighs 3 oz less than my 1911 Officers model. Fobus makes a pancake holster that fits it nicely. My son doesn't like the trigger, but it doesn't bother me. I have the Sig night sights (fixed). They are designed to "cover" the target like a lot of modern pistols, rather than a "6 o'clock' sight picture. They shoot dead on at ten yards for everyone but me who has tried them. They shoot two inches left for me, but that is due to eye damage I got a long time ago. Overall, for the price it is a heck of a bargain. I am thinking of upgrading to a Sig P227 in 45 ACP, but if I do I may just hang on to this one any way. I have size XXL mitts and really like that they have multiple backstrap inserts of varying widths to best fit your hand.
  23. Nice looking rifles.Look forward to finding some reviews and tests on them.
  24. Interesting perspective. If you are going up against a well trained beast, yep KYA goodbye. If you are going up against a dog that has simply been trained to be aggressive without any other training, you have a chance to survive with some injuries. Like Robo says, only as good as the handler. I have been attacked by just aggressive dogs three times in my life. Got bit twice but except for some interesting scars, have nothing to show for it. One was a Weimeriner, the other a chow. Key was neither was a trained K9. I can't think about any scenario where I am going to even try to resist a trained K9, since I tend to be a law abiding sort. A simple aggressive dog, that is another story. Lucky for me the jammed forearm worked both times. No guarantee it would work now, since I am 30 years older, and a lot weaker and slower, So a 45 JHP is a much better option. Back then, concealed carry permits were next to impossible to get in our area, the upper midwest. So if a dog attacked, you better have an edged weapon out quick, or you were relying on basic skills.
  25. Picked it up. A very nice setup. An incredible amount of room inside. It has eight locking points, all protected by another 1/4 steel plate. Because of the waterproof seal, however, it does retain atmospheric moisture so you need to use a dessicant, which you should anyway. So far I am pleased with the quality. Discovered that Stack On is the actual manufacturer.
