Interesting it has been banned. Probably to put a hurt on Putin. At one time you could get that stuff for $129/1000. Friends bought a 5.45 AK just to be able to shoot the cheap stuff. I have a feeling that we won't see that or possibly 7.62x39 from Russia for quite a while.

Saw that holding out for the 62 grain X-TAC. PMC is quality ammo.

GM, thanks for the heads up on the sale. Your tip made it possible. Thumbs up man.

Now that I have had a chance to look it over, here are my impressions. It is a little lighter and balances better, at least with an empty magazine than my AR 10 A4. Three tenths of a pound, to be exact. The trigger, ahhh the trigger! My first experience with a modern National Match trigger, since my Colt NM HBAR dates to 1994. That alone was worth the purchase. I can see I will be spending some coin for some after market triggers for my other AR's. All in all I am very satisfied. But the range after break inwill tell the tale. I put my Old Sightron Red Dot on it for now, and it came with a Harris type bipod. A better picture is below.

Think you may be right, don't know how soon though. Same reason IRS. Might get a Lucid than transfer it to another firearm later.

A nice, calm and respectable lady went into the pharmacy, walked up to the pharmacist, looked straight into his eyes, and said, "I'd like to buy some cyanide." The pharmacist asked, "Why in the world do you need cyanide?" The lady replied, "I need it to poison my husband." The pharmacist's eyes got big and he exclaimed, "Lord have mercy. I can't sell you cyanide to kill your husband. That's against the law. I'll lose my license. They'll throw both of us in jail. All kinds of bad things will happen. Absolutely not. You CAN NOT have any cyanide. Just get a divorce." The lady reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of her husband in bed with the pharmacist's wife. The pharmacist looked at the picture and said, "You didn't tell me you had a prescription."

I just got the news how much I owe the IRS. ACOG is out for at least a year.

You are dead on. Any one below you in social standing was fair game. If after too much Absinthe had eaten holes in your brain, and you decided you didn't like any one below you on the social scale, you pulled out the sword and took off their head. Nothing would come of it. You wanted to sleep with the wife of a minion, you did. A vassal got married, you claimed right of maidenhead and spent the wedding night with her. You considered anything below you just an animal. Then the commoners got their revenge, at least on the French Nobles at Agincourt, by butchering them while they were stuck in mud with their armor. The long bow started to change that, but The real end was the reverse of the "All men are created equal, Sam Colt made them even." bit. All men were created unequal, until the invention of gun powder and firearms made them even. Then a commoner could kill a knight as easily as vice versa, and that was the end of the Golden Age of Knighthood, which wasn't so golden.

Came today 16" AR10T. Open mind as to optics. Any thoughts? To start thinking of a Lucid red dot. Eventually looking at LaRue quick release scope mount with a Nikon M-308 BDC 4x16 but open to good advice and suggestions thanks 98.

Even wolves couldn't stomach that stuff.

That's one of those I knew I was in trouble the moment I said it.

didnt say it would be scientific, more an excuse to shoot off a few rounds in both of them. As far as length and girth, it is best to have both. I'm just sayin.......

Good thread. Thanks for the information. Just for the heck of it I am going to set up a comparison between the AR10 A4 20 inch barrel I have and an AR10 T 16 inch target barrel I have on order. It is kinda apples to oranges, since they are not the same model, but I know the 20 " is extremely accurate. It is kind of a comparison between length and thickness and which affects accuracy more. Armalite says the AR10 A4 should shoot 1.5-2 MOA and the AR10T carbine 1 MOA. Wjth the nut behind the gun, we will see.

Needle in a haystack. Find a needle, there are a lot more where it came from.

I am guessing a lot of us have the same problem. This is my range bag after I took my son and a couple of guests to the range last fall. And I always wonder where my money goes.........

It wasnt killed in Wisconsin. The blog attributes it to Alberta, but thats the Internet. It gets shot in Idaho and somebody steals the picture and claims it for somewhere else. Wisconsin wolves are nowhere near that big. 100 pounds is probably average. That monster's ancestors had to come from western Canada wherever it was born. Biggest strain of wolves as of 1975 when I last studied them was the MacKenzie river strain out of Alberta, British Columbia and NW Territories. They averaged nearly 175 pounds. I am betting that is where they got the wolves transplanted to Idaho back in the early 90's.

This is taken from FAQ on the Armalite website: Maximum Sustained Rate of Fire for the AR10 ANSWER: It is the same as that of the M-14 rifle in rounds per minute for a maximum period of: -- 2 minutes...............................40 rounds per minute -- 10 minutes.............................30 rounds per minute -- 20 minutes.............................20 rounds per minute -- 30 minutes or more...............13 rounds per minute See your owner’s manual for more information You can shoot up to 300 rounds in a ten minute period. Or more than you can carry.

I'm worried about putting the stock Armalite light profile chrome lined barrel through a high sustained rate of fire. I'm afraid of severely degraded accuracy due to rapid overheating, or worse yet, permanent damage to the barrel due to rapid fire. Are you going for a class three full auto license? Unless you fire at least three magazines as fast as you can pull the trigger and reloading as fast as you can, I don't think that will be an issue with a semi auto. That kind of torture you would have to start with at least a Bull barrel, and more likely a quick change barrel system to deal with the heat. I kinda think we have exhausted this thread. Other point: Check with Armalite's service department. Their engineers can tell you the rate of fire which could damage the standard AR10 chrome lined barrel. That is what I have and I have never had a issue, but I am not doing half hour long multiple mag dumps either.

I did not like Lake Trout at first when I tried it, but now it has become one of my favorites. Again, you are what you eat. If they have a protein rich diet they taste better. If they eat trash fish, they don't taste as good.

The nuts and bolts of it is any reputable manufacturer makes a good weapon to meet your needs. Just get one flexible enough to adapt as your needs change. You have heard our opinions, take what you need of them but follow your gut instinct in making your final selection, and you will do fine.
