Is your rifle the Standard AR10 or the AR10 T? There was a fellow a while back who had a similar issue. It turned out to be an undersized out of spec gas port hole in the barrel. But DO NOT mess with that until you try all the above recommendations. If they don't work, it is time to take advantage of Armalite's lifetime warranty. They can check the gas port problem quickly and easily. Check out the thread below:

A lot of it will be dependent on your physiology. What is the level of your eye when you have an optimum cheek weld that you can repeat exactly the same for every shot? The key to distance shooting is to exactly repeat your shooting position, breathing, trigger let off, etc exactly the same on every shot and the scope position should be part of that. That is where experimentation on your part comes in. What has worked best on your other builds, as far as scope position and comfort? That is a good starting point. Adjustable cheek risers help, but the optimum scope height for an individual is part of that as well. Personally I find my head is so big, that a low mount scope for me is very difficult to get a consistent comfortable cheek weld with. A mid height mount works best for me.

My son got back from college last night and so we hit the range with the new AR10T carbine as well as a newly modified Colt AR15 HBAR sporting a new flattop upper reciever, and an Arsenal AK 7.62x39. Just forget the camera and the cell phone, so no pictures. We were shooting 175 SMK's in both Federal Gold Medal Match, and M118LR's in the AR10. Just shooting off the bipod. Took only six rounds to get a zero, and almost every thing after that was in the bullseye. At 100 yards. Of the 45 rounds we both shot after zeroing, 2 were in the nine ring and one in the eight. Rest were in the bullseye. Which were quickly obliterated on all the targets. While I did not measure any 5 shot groups, From the results I am confident this will be a sub MOA rifle. Very little stringing of groups was observed, maybe because of the bull barrel. The only problem I foresee is that it is now my son's favorite rifle, and I don't know how often I will get to shoot it. The Burris 3x9 Scope was very nice with excellent eye relief and very precise adjustments. I am very satisfied. The AR15 shot well also just shooting M855's to get some brass to load some 75 grain Hornady BTHP. And the AK? Well it is an AK.

So much for my idea of replacing the salt with white phosphorus. Fly ala Flambe.

Maybe LR308's, but last I heard Armalite is the only company making "AR10's". -
Had to order it, we have a fly problem every summer, might as well enjoy it.

Is the 'open carry' movement going too far?
Sisco replied to gnatshooter's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Call me old school, I was trained as a kid that Alcohol and guns don't mix. It must have taken, as I don't do it to this day. Guns are stored before I have a beer. I just don't trust others to be that strict. My nephew used to be a bouncer, and an acquaintance who was also a bouncer got into the middle of two drunks disagreeing about something. One had a gun, he lost his life. Now it was an illegal gun and was not open carry, so you can't really compare it, the point is, alcohol clouds judgement, and with firearms you need absolutely clear judgement. If you have gone through a CC course, you are at least trained into the legal issues and responsibilities of firearms carry. Personally I believe the same training should be mandatory before a person can open carry. If you want to carry it, have the training you need in order to do it. It wouldn't solve all potential issues, but it would help. -
Is the 'open carry' movement going too far?

Open carry mixed with a place serving Alchohol is not a good idea, period. All it takes is one person who cannot handle their alcohol. And I am guessing we all know one person that that combination would be dangerous in. -
If I remember correctly the IRA liked the AR180 because of the ease with it could be "modified".

Kids raised properly and as responsible citizens to counteract these slime balls are our only hope.

After handling that SASS, I can see why you feel that way.

Ar10 users are like the people who go to KFC...we don't get up before noon. I have two, never had a problem. Accurate as all get out. Good customer service. A wide product line. Better than a DPMS or Knights Armament or Rock River? Depends who you ask. If you want a rifle that is pretty complete to start with, and really doesn't need much added to make it a good all around black rifle, Armalite is excellent.

And yet again , more ammo for the DHS

Purchasing agents in government justify their existence by purchasing. Bulk is better is their mantra. I don't think it is a conspiracy, I do think it is hoarding by homeland security in case of future budget cuts. -
Sweet rifle RSquared. I guess it's time for me to fill out the paperwork and get a can or two. Any tips for my friend specific to the SASS? He has shot my standard AR10, and I suggested he run it wet, particularly for the first 200 rounds. Also, what is your optic? He is planning on a Leopold which I thought was the best choice for this type.

Like our previous discussions, the Eastern coyotes are now pretty much wolf/coyote hybrids, plus cold weather selects for larger body size among animals. By the way Bubba, looks like a fun weekend, congrats, glad you had a good time. Snow and rain here, staying close to the fireplace.

Had the first chance to handle a buddy's new Armalite Super SASS today. First impression, what a beautiful rifle! Really does not need one thing added except the right optic. Ceramic coated stainless steel bull barrel, adjustable gas block, A great combination of rails and hand guards, a Magpul PSR stock, what is not to like? Except.... The weight. 11+ pounds is a bit of a trade off, but man, what a precision piece of equipment.

Get a few boxes of different weight ammo and see which does the best. That is why I always buy adjustable sights on my pistols. Hope you find something that works.

You are talking sense. The problem is, unless a person is involved in the case, the media cherry picks to make headlines. You just can't believe anything any more without corroboration. This is a complex issue and it is gonna take a lot of work to figure it out.
