  1. Damage Industries is having a 20% off sale on AR-15 parts not already discounted with code "AR-LOVE". Good deal on a milspec 7075 receiver extension!
  2. The diameter of the hollow portion may not be the same size. Mine has a heavier carrier and thus a smaller hollow portion that doesn't fit the buffer's guide rod.
  3. You're right. I forgot I have a different forum's discount there.
  4. Rifle length does make for a smoother recoil impulse. There aren't issues with it on a 16" .308 like there are with a 16" 5.56mm barrel. Knight's uses rifle length gas systems for their SR-25 carbines. I ordered an 18" SS barrel for my MWS that I'm going to have cut down to 16" and dimpled.
  5. Ditto this. On a .308 gun the standard 1.5" rings are too high to get a good cheek weld IMO (ends up being more of a chin weld). I ordered an LT120 low mount to replace my LT104.
  6. Then we're in agreement ;)
  7. Desert Warrior Products has the GG&G XDS-2 QD bipod for $183.96 shipped with coupon code "SNIPER". That's slightly less than I paid for it on Black Friday. Tax for CA residents :(.
  8. I'm not arguing that the longer barrel won't be more accurate at ranges where the shorter barrel's velocity isn't high enough to stabilize the round (hence why you can't shoot factory loaded 168gr SMK's out to 1000yds reliably with a 16" 1:10 barrel), however if both a longer barrel and a shorter one stabilize the round at a given range the initial trajectory is inherently more accurate with the shorter barrel (even if it's not by a huge amount). It's basic physics, and if facts won't change an opinion then nothing will. Here's a graph from a study where they took a 26" long Shilen barrel, and then cut it down to shorter lengths recording groups at each length. Notice how the shorter barrels maintained tighter groups (excluding 13.5" because at <16" a .308 cartridge has too low of an initial muzzle velocity and tends to perform similar to 7.62x39).
  9. You'll need to provide some theory in addition to the hand-waiving and conjecture if you want to convince anybody of this.
  10. That's pretty interesting. I'm looking forward to finding out why!
  11. What you just said says nothing about a longer barrel being inherently more accurate, but only confirms my claim that longer barrels give you more velocity. We all know that you need a certain level of velocity in order for the bullet to maintain stabilization. Obviously a longer barrel is going to allow for higher velocity thus keeping the round super-sonic for longer (and giving more range over a short barrel), however as long as a bullet from a shorter barrel is still stabilized it should be more precise due to its initial trajectory from less barrel movement.
  12. Longer barrels give you more velocity, but not accuracy. In fact it may be less accurate due to barrel movement since the end of the barrel isn't supported as well and is less rigid.
  13. I doubt it helps much when running suppressed. There's still going to be a good gap between the receiver and charging handle. The RTV silicone mod can be done to the other charging handles as well. The BCM is the cheaper than the others but is still plenty durable.
  14. Yup, after comparing devices for our roundup (still waiting on some people who said they wanted to send in devices for the comparison ;) ) the Griffin and PWS are my top picks for compensators.
  15. Bubbasks has one. You need to make sure your bolt carrier has enough of the rear hollowed out for the rod to fit. This buffer system wouldn't fit in my PWS .308 carrier.
  16. Sounds like you should get an AR Gas Vent instead. Then go with a BCM Gunfighter Mod 3 or 4 charging handle and add some RTV silicone to fill the gap!
  17. Welcome! Is your piston system going to be long or short stroke, and what will differentiate your system from what's on the market today? Thanks!
  18. I use a GG&G XDS-2 QD with my .308 guns. No issue at all. Desert Warrior Products has the XDS-2 QD version for $195.46 shipped with coupon code "SHOT" (good till 2/2 on orders of $199+ pre-coupon).
  19. Mark 8 is nice, but heavy (like the HDMR). I'm waiting for somebody else to come out with a real competitor to the Mark 6 with a sub 25oz weight and greater than 10x mag.
  20. Rockwell Arms has the tan milspec EMOD for $87.72 shipped with coupon code "20."
  21. G&R Tactical has the 10rnd PMAGs for $14.40 a piece.
  22. It's the seller's responsibility to make sure the package gets to you. In the event that a package is lost you should be refunded and he should be the one having to deal with the insurance to get his money back.
  23. Flats huh? Sounds like you need a crows foot wrench to put on your torque wrench.
  24. What? The ACS 10rnd mags I got were the biggest pieces of junk ever! They don't feed very well at all.
