  1. ^^ <lmao> <laughs>
  2. I could technically do it off the radar. Mostly it's paperwork. Still waiting on my FFL (07) but once I have that in hand I have to pay the SOT-2 tax and I'm good to go to make them. Technically I will be able to shoot them under manufacturer testing but I can't own one until I get my NFA stamp, so it'll belong to the shop as "inventory".
  3. Mostly cratering, enough to leave a ridge around where the firing pin strikes. I don't see that in the factory loads (which to me, feels hotter). I adjust the COL for different projo's to ensure that the lengths are correct, as I've compared the profile of the different bullets. On a side note, I've regularly loaded Barnes Match Burners (175gr) and have had excellent results, perhaps a little better than the SMK's. Always wanted to load some TTSX but I can't seem to find them anywhere right now.
  4. #3 here. Safety primarily. Especially with the little monsters around the house....
  5. Pics, as promised. It's eventually is going to get the full FDE treatment once I get some time.
  6. Yeah, I know... the projectiles are significantly different, but I like my hammers. I'm just wondering why I'm getting overpressure signs on a light load. Loaded 50 more A-Max tonight - this time took it down to 41.5 gr. Hope that fixes it.
  7. Haha... I guess I wasn't that clear. I'd like to eventually automate my CNC shop with material handling robots (e.g. ABB, Fanuc, Motoman robots) to load the materials into CNC machine so I can run "lights out" (i.e. the machines run unattended) like this, but on a smaller scale, with old used robots. :D
  8. I'm starting to think a replaceable crush washer (aluminum or copper) would probably be better. It would start to deform at the correct torque and still give some allowance in the "crush" to allow the barrel nut to align.
  9. Found some Privi match 168's here at $18.99... good price?
  10. Someone say "Industrial Robots" ? ....LMK if you find one in good functioning condition that's on sale for cheap. I'd love to run the shop lights out and use the robot to load the machines.
  11. Troy PGRSA Extra QD swivel.
  12. OP - nice ass.
  13. Like these guys in Nevada too....
  14. Like this?
  15. Not sure if it's the primer (F 210), but I did a set of light loads with 168gr A-Max and 42g (minimum recommended load) of Varget. Shots were landing 1.5 mil low + 1.5 mil left of my regular loads (42.5gr I-4064, 175gr BTHP) . Funny thing is the primers all looked cratered with the minimum load....is it overpressure?
  16. Bah.... gas port hole is .098" IIRC. I'm confirming this with the manufacturer. Photos later tonite.
  17. Here's an example of a set for an AR15. I'm sure there are 308AR ones available.
  18. Lower parts kit, MFT stock and misc parts from PSA....this is gonna go into the new CNC'ed lower I'm going to make for the 300AAC upper I buiilt. FDE everything and the upper/lower will be Cerakoted to match.
  19. Might I suggest a barrel nut shim?
  20. Welcome from AZ, Ryan!
  21. I love the otis cable... wish we had them while I was in the military. Makes cleaning a breeze, especially when breaking in. You don't need to takedown the rifle, pull the BCG etc, to insert the cable and simply pull straight through between shots. This is the first time I got my eyelet caught... never seen it before so I assume it was a freak occurrence. The beauty of the 300 AAC Blackout system is the rifle fires both subs and supers equally well WITHOUT the need to adjust the gas flow, so no adjustable gas block is needed, suppressed OR unsuppressed. :D The research I did before I started on the project showed other shooters had various different results with the 300 AAC, most of them was the inability to cycle subsonic rounds when unsuppressed. Since that is the "most problematic" conditions for the rifle to shoot reliably, I set that as my goal in this build. I believe the magic is finding the right combination of gas tube length, barrel length, BCG, buffer weight, and buffer spring rate. Right now my formula is: - 14.5" Barrel - Pistol-length gas system - 0.098" 0.075" gas port - Cheapie BCG from PSA - Std carbine spring - Std weight buffer I spent a lot of time to make sure everything was assembled correctly and smoothly before the first shots were taken. Seeing that the charge in the AAC is limited, especially on subs, I wanted to make sure there was minimal resistance in the action and maximize the energy from the gas return to cycle properly. Upcoming Part Three: CNC'ing my own lower for the 300 AAC upper and maybe a suppressor while I'm at it.
  22. Very nice!!
  23. Welcome to the forum! Windham Weaponry was established after the Freedom Group bought out Bushmaster and moved the manufacturing facilities out of Windham, ME. The local gunsmiths etc that were working for Bushmaster set up shop to make their own line of firearms. In effect, you have the old Bushmaster crew making the Windham firearms. That said, I have not seen a Windham SRC 308 anywhere, but I would assume it would be on-par with the offerings from DPMS, CMMG, S&W, etc. If you see one at a good price, buy it and let us know how it does! The difference between a 16" and a 20" is about 150-200fps in bullet velocity. Not much in the big scheme of things, but you'll have a slightly larger holdover with the 16".
  24. My only reload duds were the two that were missing the primer. I guess that's operator error. LOL
  25. Part Two Finished up the rest of the 300AAC subs I had, a little over 100 rounds. Hiccups worked themselves out after the 1st mag today, kept everything oiled and everything ran like clockwork (except the 20 rounds of crappy reloads from my buddy). I think there's something to be said about using the pistol length gas system that allowed it to fire subs unsuppressed using the 14.5" barrel. Pretty happy with the MAS Defense barrel for what I paid for it; groupings were tight and consistent (averaging around 1.5" at 100 yds). This is probably the easiest gun that I've shot ever. Next time for my own reloads. Scored some 208gr A-Max yesterday at sportsman's. Gonna see how they do with the recommended AA1680 powder..... I so need to get a chrono. -S
