  1. I love pablano peppers. When I lived in my old house I had a huge pepper garden in the backyard. I grew everything from super hots on down to cute little Pequin chili. It's hard to say what I miss growing the most but pablano is way Up on the list. I love using them for chili rellono. The smell of roasting pablano is heavenly. Every weekend morning during harvest season I'd go pick 2-3 of them and my wife would make me amazing breakfast w them. I can't wait to move out of my current place and back into something w the space for a garden.
  2. I've become a big fan of the Barnes ammo. The 150 and 168gr have always been really consistent for me and worked great for everyone I know that uses them. They are also very accurate out of my rifle. I was hoping to try their 110gr black tips out of my 300blk this year for deer. I wish they weren't so damned expensive but I love how they perform.
  3. That sucks to hear as I have 100rds of it I planned to burn up this weekend. Do you happen to have a lot number?
  4. I haven't seen your other posts so this may have been addressed already, but I would take a look at your extractor. It may not have enough tension or it may have a messed up claw on it that doesn't properly engage the case. That and I would check your chamber for burs, scratches, buildup, or just being too tight. Do any of your spent cases have odd scratches on them?
  5. I never remove the ribs/placenta, that's where all the magic comes from. :) . Habaneros and scotch bonnets are sweet to me when grilled/cooked and don't hit me anywhere close to certain types of jalapeños. I also do the poppers w real super hots like yellow 7pods, ghost chili, and Butch T scorpions. Those are truly hot. Especially the butch t. I'm definitely a fire eater though. Everything I make has a to have something habanero or hotter in it for me to even register it anymore.
  6. How much lube? The answer is always "more"!
  7. I started shooting 22s and 1911s at 5. I've lead a spoiled life. Grandfather was an avid shooter and collector, and most of my friends are now in the industry. I get to play a lot. Now if only my shooting skills matched my experience level. :) Single shot 22 rifle 1911 Luger P38 1903 1903a3 1917 enfield Garand M1 carbine Johnson Thompson BAR 30-40 krag carbine US 1884 US 1873 Lots of mausers Too many bolt guns of hunting type to count in 22, 22-250, 222, 222rem mag, 30-06, 30-30, .270, .243, .300win, 308norma mag, 7mm rem mag, 338lm, 45-70, 308, 8mm, AKM Aks74u M92 M95 M85 Pmkms AK47 Ar15 of all sorts M16 M4 M249 M240b M2 Mp5k Mp5sd Pkm Rpd Rpk Rpk74 Ak74 Tantal Saiga12 Daiwoo Gali Micro galil Tavor Every country sks except North Korean Colt single action army Almost every model of S&W revolver Worthless Taurus Judge Lots of sig pistols Los of glock pistols Lots of Springfield Xd pistols Lots of Cz pistols G3 Hk ump Hk USC Hk sl8 Ndm-86 in 308 and in 54r Psl Tigr SVT Enfields of almost all models Pws mk114 556 Pws mk116 300blk Pws mk216 308 Kentucky rifle that's been in family for generations Hawken Barrett M99, m95 Barrett 416 Lots of European over under shotguns Rem870, 1100 Moss500, 590 Mini14 Mini30 M14 M1a 2 seconds of M134 10guage bolt action shotgun of some sort, stupid stupid stupid. 8. Check with SGC for the pmags. I just bought some from them and they had a ton of them on the racks.
  9. From personal experience I have had a disconnector cause short stroking. My 300blk upper behaved exactly like an under gassed gun. 556 uppers on my lower ran fine but wouldn't lock back reliably. After lots of cussing and head scratching it was determined that the slot the disconnector spring sits in was slightly forward of where it should have been causing it to be extremely stiff. New disco and it runs flawlessly w all uppers.
  10. They're small, I think 1 may just do it.
  11. Step 1: Unlock deadbolt Step 2: Kick back mother in-laws ill behaved dogs that I'm stuck watching for the week Step 3: Open door and wait for dogs to run out and down the street. Darn, they're still here. Step 4: Lift heavy box inside with only one good wrist while above mentioned ill behaved dogs jump all over me and do anything in their power to try and get me to drop said box with all of its mutt crunching weight on top of them. Step 5: Having made it to the family room without crushing dogs, set heavy package down. Step 6: Open package and rejoice at being able to finally go shooting again after the most recent ammo shortage. 240rds of 308 goodness to add to my fun pile. Today was a good day.
  12. Wow. Habaneros are what I feed guests and people I want to be nice to. Lol. Done this way they seem to be more sweet to me than hot. If I want them hot I make poppers w Yellow 7 pod peppers. Those....pain. Delicious, mouth numbing, drooling pain.
  13. Bacon Fire poppers. Sorry, no pics of it. Take habaneros with the stem and part of the top cut off and stuff them with cream cheese, mexican cheese blend, and chorizo if you want it. Take a slice of bacon and cut in half. Place in an X. Place the Habanero down on the Bacon X and fold the ends of the bacon up over the Hab and stick in place with tooth picks. Grill until bacon is cooked to desired level, slather in favorite BBQ Sauce towards the end.
  14. It depends on if you are pushing them super or subsonic. There are plenty of guys shooting subsonic lead bullets out of 300blk gas guns with no issues with leading. I wouldn't push them supersonic though. I can't even begin to imagine how hard it would be to get lead buildup out of a gas tube or gas block area.
  15. Honestly I didn't notice much difference between it and the fsc30 I had on it other than friends stopped complaining about the concussion they received from me. Maybe just a little bit more recoil than before but still very comfortable and easy to manage. This is based on a PWS long stroke piston system though and honestly their recoil feels a lot softer to me than a DI or Short stroke piston does so I'm not sure how exactly it would feel on another gas system. My friends that run them on 5.56 and 300blk guns love them. As far as muzzle rise it really works well for me.
  16. Left to right is my wife's 5.56 Mk114, my 300blk Mk116 on a noveske gen2 lower, and my Mk216. I originally had the acs-l on the Mk216 when I painted it but then ended up needing the larue RISR so I switched the stocks around and haven't had a chance to repaint the 308 or paint the others. I also swapped flash hiders between my 300 and 308 to make the side blast a little more tolerable for friends that I shoot with. I actually really like the triad on the 308. The FSC on the 300blk will be getting changed back to a triad in the near future. The suppressors we are building for all 3 won't need a special mount and will be made to work with these existing flash hiders. As far as the AFG, I am not sure if it will stay on there. It's a love hate kind of thing with that. I don't have any better pics of my 308 right now and can't find the ones I took when I did the paint on it. I'll get some better ones once I have time to finish painting. I'm a PWS whore. Can you tell???
  17. I put a pws triad on mine after getting sick of hearing friends complain about the side blast of the fsc30 I had. It reduces muzzle rise decently and does a great job of throwing sound down range instead of back or sideways. Also works great as a flash hider.
  18. Aji is hit and miss on some pricing, but their owner Jeff is a really standup guy and will work some deals w you. I only deal w him.
  19. I've always been an AK guy and hated cleaning AR rifles. I liked shooting them well enough, but have always been less than impressed w 5.56 ammo and again, cleaning is not a joy to me so I stayed away from the stoner design. Then I shot a friends pws mk114 in 5.56 and fell in love w how soft it shoots and more importantly, how clean the inside of the receiver was compared to standard ARs. Still had the 5.56 issue but then along came 300blk and I made the leap knowing I wanted a suppressed rifle platform that I could also comfortably hunt deer and cow elk with. I bought a mk116 300blk upper from pws and slapped it on a Noveske gen2 lower. That started my AR sickness. From there I started lusting after bigger and better things. At the time my precision 308 rifle position was filled by an Ndm-86 in .308. Extremely accurate and beautiful gun but spare parts are non existent and stupid expensive when you find them. I refused to sell it due to rarity and my obsession w SVDs. At that point in time though one of my dogs ended up needing surgery and I had no cash for it. I made a quick deal and made a nice chunk of change selling the NDM. Unfortunately the week before the surgery we had to put that dog to sleep due to too many complications. I was left w a couple thousand dollars, an empty spot in my safe, and a lot of grief from losing the best dog I've ever had. I decided since my Boerboel was gone that I would replace the 308 in my collection and started shooting as many different variants as I could get my hands on. The only rifle I didn't get a chance to shoot was the Noveske N6 but didn't care for the mag setup anyways. Of all the rifles I shot in 308 the pws guns tickled me the most. Softer shooting and just seemed to balance better for me. I could run their 16in very close to how I can run a normal ar15 in terms of speed and target transitioning. I was hooked on them. So the search began for one. Then one day while killing time at SGC between appointments I saw the Mk216 hanging on their wall. It was $500 cheaper than I'd seen one anywhere online. Hmmmmm. I came back the next day w cash in hand, talked them down another $250 to beat most of the tax and walked out w it. It has become my favorite rifle to shoot.
  20. Aji in apache junction az has always treated me well, but my favorite ffl is Azex Arms in Queen Creek Az. Derek has always taken excellent care of me with many custom builds, transfers and service work. He isn't a normal brick and mortar sales shop but is a custom manufacturer and often has numerous pieces for sale on his walls.
  21. Believe me I know. I used to be that guy. Bad. Then one day it hit me that I can only run so much at one time and I sold off a ton of my collection and consolidated calibers. It's amazing. I ended up gaining a whole bedroom worth of space that I turned into a music room along with a couple of top quality pieces that I truly love to shoot. Some of my gear I hadn't touched in 5 years. It looked lonely. I felt bad for neglecting it. Or something like that. :) My only regret was selling my NDM-86. That one hurt to part with but I was too afraid to shoot it due to no spare parts available without first having and then selling a few kids. Right now my biggest upcoming wallet pain is going to be 3 stamps for some suppressors in the next few months.
  22. I've been able to pull off 3/4in groups with my Mk216 with a few different 168gr loads using a 4x scope. That was when I was sighting it in for Elk last year. Most of my shooting with it has been more fast paced multiple target type shooting. I haven't had a single failure with it of any kind, even with DPMS mags and I'm putting good consistent groups at center mass with it. The thing I've been most impressed with it is the lack of recoil. It just feels really smooth and easy run. I just wish It came with a slightly better trigger. I changed mine out to an LWRC enhanced group that I had on hand but will eventually be putting an SSA or some other trigger in it.
  23. There's no way they are gone. There was a huge amount of them on the rack behind the counter late this afternoon. They may only be doing in store purchases on them if they aren't on the website.
  24. Thanks all. I'm glad it's going to start cooling off here again soon. I finally get to go shooting again this weekend and coyote hunting in 2 weeks. I've been dying to get out all summer but lack of ammo and the heat has kept me in town. As to my wallet it has been thoroughly whooped on this week. Lots of decently priced ammo and several Pmags have found their way to my house. Now if only I could find some decent 300blk I'd be super happy.
  25. I can't believe Troy and HS precision would even think about employing the likes of these two jackboot clowns. You would think Troy would have learned after the whole fiasco w hs a while back. The day news broke about Troy I had just placed an order for 20 of their mags and a set of iron sights which I promptly turned around and canceled. Looks like magpul will continue getting my money.
